Without any hesitation whatsoever, Ecko steps through the portal. "Rest? Relax? Who doesn't want something like that?" he muses, not an air of caution around him. He curiously inspects the lilac statues - guessing if it was a carving or some stone transmutation. He does, however, wait for the rest of the party - somewhere in the back of his mind he thinks this could be dangerous. Just in case, he traces a detect magic spell in the air before happily continuing along.
Stepping through the portal, you see a gorgeous sight. The Temple of the Restful Lily is built around a hot spring in a large open grove in a massive forest. The woodland trail accessed through the portal created by The Price of Beauty leads to the temple from the east after a journey of a quarter mile.
See the map in Discord. You arrive along the path at AREA T1.
Garmus eyes the portal with suspicion, his hand resting on his axe. "Hmphf! I'm thinkin' rest and relaxation are the last things we'll be findin' in this cockamamie place." he grumbles as he follows the others through the portal. "Keep yer guard up, ya know this ain't nothin' but trouble."
The double doors open to the sound of a bell. Beyond the doors is a large lobby, the air heavy with the scent of fresh lilies. A desk stands at the center of the room, holding neatly piled papers and fresh-cut lilies in a vase. A dark-haired man in fine clothes stands up from behind the desk as he sees you. Eralynn blinks at his attractiveness. Speaking of cock.
“Welcome, friends, to the Restful Lily. Freshen yourselves in our luxurious bathhouse. Or perhaps you’d enjoy a massage? Haircut? A shave or pedicure? Oh! Road-tired feet simply cry out for comfort! Whatever your pleasure, I am here to serve.”
- Entry to the bathhouse costs 5 gp per person and includes the use of the enchanted baths, a comfortable robe, and a private changing room with a lockable trunk to store weapons and equipment. - Lodging for visitors who want to stay overnight at the temple is available at a cost of 4 gp per person. Meals cost 5 sp, and the lounge offers a wide range of beverages. - Characters can enjoy a haircut, a shave, or a waxing for 2 gp, 1 gp, or 10 gp, respectively. - Massages can be booked for 20 gp and last for an hour. - A manicure and pedicure costs 2 sp. The pedicure might incur an additional fee depending on the cleanliness of the customer’s feet.
Garmus' eyes start to water and you hear him start to sniffle and snort. Right as the man finishes his spiel Garmus lets out two giants sneezes, loud enough that surely the whole place heard.
The host takes out a handkerchief and wipes his face, folding it and putting it back in his coat pocket. Eralynn slams down some gold on the table, as if in a big hurry, and some of it rolls and drops off the table. In a few comedic seconds of clumsiness and bashfulness, she nearly trips and stumbles trying to get them all back on the table.
Garmus wipes his arm across his eyes, trying to stem the flow. "Tell me ya don't got these noxious flowers through out this whole place?" Garmus asks, one eyebrow raised, staring at the host. Unfortunately, his usually intimidating visage is undone by the tears streaming down his cheeks into his beard and his continuous sniffling.
Ecko takes amusement in Garmus's struggles, unleashing a host of mimics of laughs selected from various voices he's heard over the years. "What's wrong, Garmus? Bested by a flower?" he giggles before approaching the host and fishing around for some gold. He extends a feathered palm. "I'll take a few massages. I don't know what's up with her," he comments, jerkily tilting his head towards the fumbling Eralynn. "But she's usually awkward around people she likes," Ecko continues, simply stating an observation he made rather than attempting to draw any implications. He's not particularly wise. Nor capable of reading social interactions too well.
Ecko requests and pays for a massage, leading him...somewhere. I don't know where, but somewhere. Ecko is approaching this place like he would a party in Hupperdook - try everything. Do everything. Party hard. Don't sleep.
Garmus wipes his arm across his eyes, trying to stem the flow. "Tell me ya don't got these noxious flowers through out this whole place?" Wait a minute, are you allergic to lilies?Eralynn wonders, smiling.
"Oh, how dreadful, I apologize."and the host removes the lilies from view. "I am Saeth. Please let me know how I can be of assistance."
"What's wrong, Garmus? Bested by a flower?" he giggles before approaching the host and fishing around for some gold. He extends a feathered palm. This generates another snort from Eralynn. "But she's usually awkward around people she likes," Ecko continues, simply stating an observation he made rather than attempting to draw any implications. Eralynn laughs very nervously, turning cherry red.
"I see."Saeth smiles, as if he's heard it a million times. "Come. I will set you up with a massage."he tells Ecko.
AREA T2
A corridor beyond the lobby runs between two rows of curtained cubicles, where guests can change out of traveling clothes and armor. Each cubicle contains a wooden stool, two white robes hanging on hooks, and a large wooden trunk with a lock. If any of you pay to enter the baths or want to enjoy any of the other facilities, you're asked to change and store your weapons and equipment here. One robe of each pair is sized for Medium characters, while the other fits Small characters. Saeth gives you a numbered key that corresponds to your cubicle and trunk.
Since you want a massage, you are then led to..
AREA T7
These adjoining chambers, dimly lit with shrouded lamps, are each furnished with a bed whose frame can be tilted and folded into different positions. Shelves and counters hold an array of perfumes, oils, and lotions, and scented candles that fill the room with a pleasantly invigorating scent. Ilmar Mizzrym, a drow, works here as the head aesthetician of the bathhouse. He wears a simple belted silk robe and flat shoes, and speaks in a soft, hushed voice.
He introduces himself. "Hello, my friend. Welcome to the Treatment Rooms. I am Ilmar. I will be in your service today."
"What's wrong, Garmus? Bested by a flower?" he giggles before approaching the host and fishing around for some gold. He extends a feathered palm. This generates another snort from Eralynn.
"I can still smack a magpie upside the head with na problem." Garmus continues to sniffle as he digs the gold out of his pouch. Maybe a bath would help is beleaguered system and get the nasty stench of lilies out of his nose.
"Well this is certainly a change from the usual horrors we usual find within the books." Ysa replied pleasantly as she listened to the offers. "I bet the little one would've loved it here." she added on wistfully, imagining the little kitten getting pampered to its heart's content.
Turning to the host, she told him simply, "The lounge sounds quite nice," before leaving and heading forward into resort, walking around a bit before eventually finding the lounge (towards T3 I believe). She made no effort to change her attire or hand in her Scythe; doing either was out of the question.
Ecko gave the rest of the party a cheerful wave before trotting off after the admittedly handsome Saeth. Ecko admires the calming architecture and mood of the entire place. Different from Hupperdook, sure. Perhaps relaxing would do the constantly active Kenku some good. Ecko laughs to himself. Yeah, right. As if he would ever relax. That was boooring. He was here for some fun!
Upon entering the changing rooms he reluctantly settles down his gear and armor in favor of a snazzy, white bathrobe. He tucks his spellcasting gem into a pocket, though - he wasn't going entirely unarmed. Just in case. They had a mission here, right? Ecko abruptly halts. Right. He forgot. He traces an alarm spell around his gear to ensure nobody messes with it before exiting to the adjoining hallway
After trailing into the massage room, Ecko realizes he has never had one before. Hupperdook wasn't made for relaxing - such comforts were foreign to him. Oh, well - Ecko shrugs and immediately heads to the shelf with all the perfumes and oils, choosing to quickly rearrange them into a nonsensical array before stepping back, satisfied. He jumps as Ilmar speaks and abruptly turns around. "Treatment Rooms? That's for massages, right? Did I go to the wrong place? No? Anyways, I'm Ecko! Nice to meet you," he rapidly greets. A pause. He remembers the mission. "Is this place busy? As far as I've seen it's only been the group I came with and the people who work here. I mean, strange, but expected, considering you require people to walk through a mirror to enter. Talk about a magnificent entrance!"
"I can still smack a magpie upside the head with na problem." Garmus continues to sniffle as he digs the gold out of his pouch. Maybe a bath would help is beleaguered system and get the nasty stench of lilies out of his nose.
Eralynn agrees. It's been way too long since she's cleaned herself in many regards. Garmus and Eralynn were led to AREA T2 to disarm, undress, and robe up. Then Seade leads them both to the bathhouse, AREA T5.
AREA T5
A floor of polished white marble surrounds a large central pool of steaming turquoise water in this large, open-air bath. Stone pillars stand along the outside wall, sculpted with relief carvings of Sune. Between the pillars, frosted windows diffuse the light from outside through the mist that hangs in the air. This bathhouse is built around a natural hot spring. The pool is 10 feet deep. A very attractive half naked fae creature, some sort of dryad, is in the pool, tending to it.
"Hello, my friends! Welcome to the Bathhouse! Please let me know if I can clean any of you this wonderful day."
Eralynn swallowed very hard. She took off her robe, and wearing nothing but her underwear, slipped into the pool. It was perfectly warm.
MEANWHILE
"Yes!"the Drow says calmly, beginning to work oon Ecko. "It is a wonderful place. Not too busy, though. People have come and gone from this place. Some never leave. Truly a magnificent place."
Garmus waves the fae away and shucks off his robe, his short clothes still on and splashes into the pool, sitting down with an audible sigh and a few lingering sniffles. He dunks his head and comes up scrubbing his face and pulling the water through his beard.
Eralynn nodded, indicating for the fae to bathe her. She gave her consent. The fae woman came over with soaps and scents and began scrubbing her tenderly, and Eralynn gave Garmus a hand motion of "no peeking!" and she giggled.
Eralynn let the dryad bathe her. She was gentle, and caring, and Eralynn enjoyed the feeling of soft sponge and soap on her petite frame. The dryad servant made sure to get every nook and cranny. Yup. Every one. She then took time to pull her to a different part of the pool to enjoy a magical skin treatment where each and every unwanted hair was removed. Her skin was, once again, silky and smooth.
"May I tend to your beard, my good sir?"the dryad offered Garmus, her voice sounding like windchimes.
Garmus was a little disconcerted with the offer. "Ah...my beard? You? N..no...I can handle it just fine. I just need a comb and some oil if ya have it?"

Having never experienced a massage before, Ilmar certainly experiences some difficulty as the kenku squirms a little from the unfamiliar sensation before eventually lying still. Well, as still as Ecko can possibly be. “Really? That’s fascinating. How do you leave? The way you came? Why don’t people leave? Isn’t that…concerning?”
Garmus was a little disconcerted with the offer. "Ah...my beard? You? N..no...I can handle it just fine. I just need a comb and some oil if ya have it?" The half naked dryan bows deeply. "Of course, master. Here."like a breeze, she turns and gathers fine beard grooming instruments - towel, oil, and comb included. "If you change your mind, please don't hesitate to ask."And she glides away.
Eralynn is looking at you with a funny smirk, like she just discovered some hidden personality feature she didn't know about you.
