Ecko scribbles some more excited notes into the margins of whatever book he picked up from the jackalweres. He remarks at the abundance of werefolk in these areas. "Is there anything in specific that helped you in killing these ghouls and wights? Was there something that hurt them more than others?" he chirps, following the wereravens into the house. Perhaps leaving Hupperdook wasn't so bad.
Garmus hangs the shovel back on the hook, assuming they are leaving the grave as is. "Anyone bring any cards? Sounds like we're gonna be waitin' for a bit." He says as starts towards the house.
"Is there anything in specific that helped you in killing these ghouls and wights? Was there something that hurt them more than others?" "It is their numbers that overwhelm us."
I can advance time forward, or you guys can RP some more. You decide.

"Well then, we shall be prepared for that then." Ysabell replied matter of factly before heading towards the house. Ysa then spent a few minutes walking around the building and making sure there was nothing of note lurking inside. (Detect Evil and Good lasts 10 minutes so it might still be up. Otherwise Investigation check: 18)
The building appears abandoned. Other than harmless, old, dusty mementos, the house is empty and creepy.
Around midnight, an arcane disturbance causes the graveyard to brighten, and a portal opens to the Shadowfell inside the empty grave, the swirling arcane energy in the shape of a portal about six feet down.
"The time is now. Good luck friends."
Eralynn is so afraid and pale it looks like she's going to vomit. There's just something about this place.
Raastin sighs, looks to the others and shrugs. Offering a ridiculously forced grin -- to accompany his forced bravery -- he steps toward the hole, gazing down at the swirling arcane energy. "My pa always said my curiosity would end with me 6 feet down in the ground...I'm not sure he was imagining this," he says, drawing his twin blades while raising one to his forehead in a mock salute. "See you on the other side."
He jumps in.

"I'll leave the little one with you if that's alright." Ysabell told Vinique as he placed little Nameless on one of the dusty tables in the house. "Be good and I'll be back soon." she then told it before rising in a swirl of dark clothing and exiting the house towards the now opened portal.
"Be careful on the other side everyone. And no rash decisions." she shared seriously with the others as she each of them a glance. "Now before we al--" she began before she watched Raastin jump into portal in a flash. Sighing a bit frustratingly, she nonetheless walked towards the swirling portal and carefully followed the Half-Elf to the Shadowfell.

"Scatter-witted mooncalf that boy is!" Garmus grumbles, shooing Eralynn after Yasbell. "Come on, Ekco, time's a wastin'. Let's get this business done with."

Ecko snaps out of a daze earned from staring down the ravens clustered near the top of the haunted mansion's roof. "Right!" he replies, energetically hopping down after the rest, enthusiasm only slightly diminished by the foreboding surroundings present within.
Ecko whispers a series of incantations. He had studies the nature of the undead mentioned and come across a unique array of sigils that may ward against them somewhere in a tome picked up from Candlekeep. The shield shimmers with light as he casts Protection from Evil and Good against Undead.
My heart was pounding in my chest, the level of anxiety was high. I thought I was going to pass out, or ralph all over the ground, but something inside me made me go. I had never done something like this before, nor know what would be on the other side. I was no planar traveler, simply an artist with a gift. I went through the portal of the Shadow Crossing, emerging to find a land similar in topography to where we just were, but with a few differences. I began to pant heavily with nervousness. So far, everyone emerged and was alive.
Everything in this place was a shade of gray. There was no color otherwise. I turned around to see that this place was like a mirror image of where we came from, but..darker. Gloomier. Evil. The Chalet was in ruins, and next to the graveyard up the hill was a massive mausoleum that was not there before. A thick fog covered nearly everything, and the glow of the portal in the grave was still there, indicating that it was still open.
It was very cold here, a chill, like a ghost passing by, or some other paranormal feeling. On top of the mausoleum, as we emerged, two large gargoyles came to life, and flew down to rend us with claw and teeth.
Stepping into the planar rift, Ecko reminisces over the similar feeling he experienced when being shunted through the Omni-Smelter's experimental portal. It was a fun feeling - dreamy weightlessness was akin to flight. Like most Kenku, above all, Ecko desired a means of flight. He tumbles to the ground and hurriedly picks himself up, eyes darting every which way - out of equal measures of curiosity and in an attempt to gather as much information as possible. Applying knowledge gained was Ecko's strong suit, and the Shadowfell was certainly a new experience.
Ecko opens his mouth to comment about the fascinating design of the gargoyles before he realized they were hostile beings. He quickly picks his shield up and gets ready to clobber some stone. "We can do this."

Hearing Eralynn's breathing quicken, he grabs her shoulder. "Deep breath, girl." He says as he takes in the view around him. "Just breathe." He repeats as much for her as for himself. This was...unnerving to say the least. As his eyes scanned the area he caught sight of the gargoyles. "Get ready!" He yells, pulling out his shield and axe.
“You may. I will unlock the front door and let the others know your intentions.”

"Lynny, are ya goin' ta be ok? Do ya need ta stay here?" Garmus asks, concerned about her appearance.
She inhaled deeply and puffed out forcefully. She shook her head no, and steeled herself. Wordlessly, she projected:
Where you go, I go. I can do this. I can do this.
"Atta girl. Yer stronger than ya think." He says as he clucks her on the chin then checks his armor, shield and axe before they head out.

Roll for initiative.
"Well, fu...." Raastin yelps, readying to utter a few arcane words while bringing up his hand and looking to sidestep one of the fiends.
