Eralynn nods vaguely and dreamily in agreement with Garmus, and turns to walk away, her head turning last. She nearly trips on herself, and when she does, turns back to Yalerion and sheepishly waves, giggling, and trying to play it off the best she can. Yalerion waves back and she nearly has a fainting spell, but she catches herself and sticks with the group.
(Once they had left Yelerion)
"You should draw him a picture for when you next see him. I'm sure he'd really enjoy it" Ysabell quietly shared with Eralynn before winking at her. Then looking to the rest of the group, "Well before we go on any grand voyages, we should probably tell the seekers what we've discovered. Perhaps they'll have some additional insights for us. Besides, I'd rather not have to make the voyage there if we didn't have to. I could see myself becoming... busy with other work if we did."
"The seekers are good people to ask and inform. If any other books came from the same location, we could stop a few more books from attacking. Regardless - Baldur's Gate? That's a funny name. Like Hupperdook. It sounds fun!" Ecko cheerily responds, fiddling with another contraption in his arms.

"I don't think I've ever heard anyone call Baldur's Gate 'fun'." Ysabell replied to Ecko, "Unless thievery, murder and general bloodshed are what you find entertaining of course."

Eralynn turns red again, nodding bashfully, but, as they left and continued on their mission, that's exactly what she needed to focus on, the mission. She straightened up and saved fantasizing about romance for some other time.

Eralynn liked that name. Hupperdook. It sounded cute.
We informed the Avowed of our plan. They told us that if we solved the mystery, we would no have to "pay" a book to return to Candlekeep. We prepared for our journey to Baldur's Gate.
Raastin sighs, "Fine. We go to Baldur's Gate." He looks about wistfully, soaking in all the scenery of the 'Keep. "But we're back here as soon as possible. I have unfinished business other than this distraction of ravenous books."

"Agreed. I would also like to solve the blight problem before the entire town slowly starves to death." Ysabell added.
(OOC: How long is a trip from Candlekeep to Baldur's Gate?)
Ecko fusses over which book he would provide upon reentry to the keep. He begins fastidiously stitching together scraps of his notes and whimsical observations that, by all means, are likely impossible to read for someone who isn't as eclectic or scatterbrained as a Hupperdookian Kenku. Half of the time, he gets distracted filling in the very margins with more thoughts.
"Where I come from, some people used to ride on these giant tortoises. Horizonback tortoises? Do they exist here?"Ecko openly wonders, completely forgetting about the cart entirely as he asks an adjutant for information on the subject. He eventually trails back, a jovial spring in his step. His large, almost bursting rucksack has been stuffed to the brim with trail rations of all kind for Ecko to try. "Agreed! Let's get back here soon - I'm afraid the curiosity will get the better of me if we linger in Baldur's Gate too much."
"Agreed. I would also like to solve the blight problem before the entire town slowly starves to death." Ysabell added. Eralynn nodded. She held up her sketchbook to Ecko. If we solve the mystery of the book eating monsters, we won't have to give a book to return.
(OOC: How long is a trip from Candlekeep to Baldur's Gate?) - It's about 250 miles away, so probably a week to get there? There are many caravans that go to and from Baldur's Gate - many of them are looking for protection from troublemakers as wel.
Ecko considers a fight. He shrugs - he didn't particularly enjoy combat, but he was trained to be on the frontlines as a war mage and wielder of the arcane. Admittedly, his interests were specific to teleportation and arcane means of travel, but he didn't quite have the power to do something like that yet. "Caravans are safe," he echoes, "And besides, we'll have more people to talk with! Each person has a story to tell. And I'm all here to listen. Reflect them, too - I've heard a many wise old gnome's tale, and I can repeat them nearly flawlessly," he continues in his usual piecemeal wording annotated by his sonograph. He then turns to Ysabell. "Do you have any leads on the plague? If the town's survived this long, a week or two won't hurt. Right?" Ecko frowns. His knowledge on agriculture was lacking. He lights up and jots a note on his pad - 'BOOKS ON PLANTS'.
Ecko approaches the rickety caravan, giving it a once-over after wiping his glasses on the neck of his shirt. He mumbles something about how this would barely be a passable vessel of travel compared to the magnificent creations of Hupperdook. "My, my - this thing looks right out of the junior's class in the Assembly Yard!" he exclaims, furiously rummaging in his bag to fashion some appliances to make the caravan more secure and provide a smoother ride for the occupants inside. Ecko wasn't one for walking. And he sure was one for comfort.
As the caravans are being loaded, getting ready to leave for Baldur's Gate, an inspector of some sorts with a quill and parchment recording inventory, asks us, "Travelling or protecting?" He looks up at us expectantly. Eralynn turned to the group, wondering this as well.
"I'll be on protection detail," Ecko mimics in Garmus's voice, bending his knees and walking with an overly gruff expression on his face. Garmus amused him.

"I'll assist in keeping the terrors that haunt this world at bay." Ysabell commented a bit ominously to the inspector. "This one though will be a strictly a traveler." she added lightly in a complete shift in tone as she scratched little Nameless' head. The cat echoed her sentiments and meowed happily at the man in front of it.

The inspector looks at you wryly for a moment, then turns back to his paperwork with a droll "Mhmm."
Garmus looks at Ekco, determining if he should be offended or not. He shakes his head..."watch yerself bird." He comments with an overly gruff voice and posture, clearly teasing.

There are regular caravans that travel from Candlekeep to Baldur's Gate. Are you ready to depart?
"Agreed. I would also like to solve the blight problem before the entire town slowly starves to death." Ysabell added.

"Do we want to travel fast and light or are we goin' ta hook up with a caravan?" Garmus asks the group.
Eralynn shrugged. She didn't mind either way. The caravan would be free as long as we provided protection, but any other method would cost us money.
"Well free is good for me, especially if there's a chance for a fight!" Garmus says enthusiastically.
