After Sphyboe’s attack and retreat, Ryndar also steps back toward Helena while confidently firing two arrows into the ogre’s huge form. (Thog’s Wisdom save: -1 )
The ogre’s anger turns to fear--of Ryndar at least. She howls in pain and confusion. Helena now steps forward, just enough to see the two goblins on the left side of the cavern. She casts Sleep centered on a point behind them, hoping to catch any other enemies who might be hiding in the darkness. Once the two goblins drop to the ground asleep, Helena retreats to east of the entrance to stay out of the firing line of the goblins.
The third round of combat starts with the ogre looking down at her club and her javelin. She starts to step forward, looks at Ryndar, and stops again. Finally, she simply hurls her javelin at Ryndar who hurt her so badly. (Attack at disadvantage: Attack: 13 Damage: 11 )
The ogre’s javelin clatters harmlessly across the stones just beyond Ryndar.
(The next attack on the ogre is at advantage. She is still five feet inside the entrance of the cave. Everyone should be able to see her still, except Helena. None of the goblins are in view at the moment. Daerthe is up, followed by Essie.)

Focusing on the her for she forms two more of the purple blades in her hands, throwing both of them in rapid succession.
As the ogre scowls fearfully at Ryndar, Daerthe takes the opportunity to fling two purple daggers at her. The arrow that had found purchase against her armor earlier hurts, but Essie pushes the feeling away. There's no time to dwell on that now. She hums softly, feeling her magic still hold. Good. With the various arrows flying about, she's sure her friends will need it. Then she loads another bolt into her crossbow and fires at the ogre.
Essie takes steady aim, and fires her crossbow. The bolt sinks into the ogre’s throat. She tries to suck in another breath of air, wheezes, and slowly falls backward, slain. Behind the fallen ogre, Essie, Daerthe, and Sphyboe see a goblin dart from the right side of the cave toward the left and disappear into the stalagmites. Another goblin voice yells, “Maach! Daan mel'daal daan orlaan!” Then all is quiet. There are no visible enemies. Helena saw two goblins fall asleep on the left (or west) side of the cavern, about 45 feet from the entrance. Earlier, Ryndar saw one on a ledge on the right (or east) side of the cavern, about 55 feet from the entrance.

Bearamble, from his perch, has been focusing on the entrance for the last 3-4 seconds, breaking his attention for mere fractions of a second to see some of his party retreating while others advancing or changing their positioning and some firing into the cave. He has also been trying to gauge his parties body language to see if enemies (or fleeing townsfolk) might be emerging. Unfortunately, none of this appears to be imminent, so Bearamble is frozen with indecision. He understands the goblin speech from the cave but has no way to communicate it to his party.
He checks again his footing in this precarious position and uses the ready action (again) to identify an enemy when/if they exit the cave and to crush them under his weight.

With a little wrinkle of her nose, Essie pulls the arrow out of her shoulder. It hurts, but it's easy enough to think past the pain for now. She tosses it to the side before moving up to the cave entrance, stepping carefully around the ogre corpse. She's about to reach out and touch D to heal her as she passes, but given the way the elf is crouching, Essie's sure she's trying to stay hidden. So she skirts around her, moving just a hair ahead. "I don't think it's very nice to shoot people," she says to the others. "But I don't appreciate being shot either. Are we continuing forward?"
As she moves, she slides another bolt into her crossbow, ready to fire if she sees an enemy approach.
After removing the arrow, Essie moves up just past Daerthe, peering into the darkness. Like the others who have approached the entrance, she sees a mostly unlit cavern about 80 feet wide and stretching beyond her sight before her. There are a few ten-foot high ledges on the sides and a forest of stalagmites in the center. Matching stalactites hang from the 30-foot high ceiling above. A perpetual dripping sound comes from this area. Closer and to the left of the cave entrance, a pool of what appears to be mud stretches for 20 feet.
The dead female ogre lies just inside the entrance, as well as a dead goblin just beyond next to the mud pool. This goblin has a dart in his chest that still glows with the Light, providing 20 feet of bright light and an additional 20 feet of dim light. Just beyond the mud pool are two more goblins lying on the cave floor unmoving. About 40 feet from Essie, on the right side of the cave lie the remains of another goblin with an arrow through her chest. Essie doesn’t see any living enemies, although she hears the pattering of small running feet in the darkness beyond the stalagmites. Essie, Daerthe, and Ryndar are pretty sure this is the sound of a goblin running further into the cavern away from them. After a few seconds, all is quiet except the continual dripping.
(At this point, we are out of combat, as all enemies have fled or are dead. What would you all like to do? Please roll any checks you feel are appropriate for your actions, such as Perception, Investigation, Stealth, etc.)
Bearamble, seeing some of the party enter or a least approach the entrance to the cave, will begin rethinking his strategy. He doesn’t want to land on any of his new friends. The thought comes to him that there was mention of other entrances, which means other exits. This potentially could cause the party to be flanked if the goblins or ogres are smart enough to think of it.
From this elevated position he lifts his head high and with his keen sense of smell (in bear form) will try to detect the hint of goblin, ogre, or other foreign stench on the air, or pervading from nearby bushes or leaves they may have brushed past recently, possibly leading him to a side entrance. Of course, he will be trying to filter out the smell that can be detected directly below him.

Sphyboe seems bothered by something when she nervously fidgets and bites her nails. She will move closer to the entrance while cautiously examining the movement of the Bearamble who's sniffing the air. There's another ogre inside the cave and he/they/she could be more menacing and ruthless than the previous two guards. Breaking the bad news will dishearten the party since they've expended most of their energy in fighting the ogre minions. She brushes off her troubled posture and expression, and attempts to sense the presence of the third ogre, she hopes that the third ogre is the last one.
"Everyone be careful of your surrounding! Don't let your guard down, there's something inside the cave which can be more villainous than the two ogres that we fought earlier."
As Bearamble sniffs the air, he does pick up a few different scents. From the west side of the hill, he senses a damp mineral smell mixed with that of goblins. From further up on the hill and toward the north, he smells the stench of dead bodies. From the east, he picks up an acidic flavor in the air. He can further explore one of these scents, but he will need to move closer to their sources and it will take some time.
Meanwhile, Sphyboe is nervously approaching the cave entrance. She remembers seeing the first ogre who appeared there, taunted them, and then ran so quickly at D. That one fell surprisingly quickly from D’s strange purple daggers and Bramble’s bear attacks. Then a second one came out of the forest of stalagmites, but never seemed to get a chance to attack. Its fear of Ryndar seemed to keep it from bashing any of them with its greatclub. It took longer to bring that one down, but multiple arrows, crossbow bolts, and daggers did the job. (Those are the only two ogres you all have seen.)
