SO SORRY! I was gonna respond but then I thought that I had and then I got more notifications and...
Anyway, so sorry, please forgive me,
"Well, I suppose we all have our quirks, for example, our mayor, he has a weird ritual. He will go to my bar, have a few drinks, and leave to the mine. So strange."
"Well, the old abandoned gold mine, they left because there was something about some kind of energy? A... dark crystal or something like that. Our mayor is plannin' to go public with it! This little town should soon be quite busy!"
"Well... we'll get protection from the government. When they find out there's something special here, they'll have no choice but to help us. And that'll be a much better arrangement than what we have with those..."
She trails off, and then opens her mouth as though to say something before closing it again and turning and hurrying off.
(I'm so sorry for not responding, I was very busy those days to post something and I promise that if something comes up in the future I'll post a small text saying that I won't be able to respond for the day)
-True, she is hiding something, but it's not our concern. She did gave us a good option to finish the mission. We should check the mine to form a plan and later check the taver to see if the mayor is there.- answered Frekor.
“A fine idea. Let’s see if we can’t find this mine then.” I think Tyl will follow Frekor’s lead on finding a track or trail seeing as we don’t know where it is.
OK, you follow a trail leading to the mine, and find that the once well-traversed path is now overgrown but for a pair of footsteps in the mud leading up to the mine, but not back from it.
You reach the mine, and something is very wrong. You can feel it as you get closer, and the urge to run becomes stronger. You finally get to the entrance of the mine and look down to see a man of an athletic build and brown hair with his limbs sticking out at all the wrong angles.
Based upon the description you were given, this appears to be the guy you were supposed to slice. But you are unwilling to get any closer due to some darkness that seems solid enough to keep you away.
-This looks suspicious. I doubt the academy would send more than one group to this mission, so this must have been done by a third party.- said Frekor while looking the corpse.
The ranger looked at this solid darkness and casted Detect Magic

Farewell.
“What sort of mine?”

“That sounds... like the sort of thing that might get the town burned to the ground by zealous types. Are you sure this is a good idea?”

Tyl turns to Frekor.
”Well that’s a bit odd. Although probably tells us the reason we’re here.”

Is Frekor going to respond or is he gone?
Farewell.
Maybe he just missed it, or wasn’t sure he needed much response there.

Is he moving? How far away?
Paladin - warforged - orange
He is around thirty feet down, unmoving, and surrounded by a pool of congealed blood originating from the head.
Farewell.
“If that’s the mayor, then this may be a job well-done.”
Despite this, Tyl approaches to get a better look at what happened to him, and see if it looks like the mayor.

You are blown back by a gust of necrotic magic as the body turns into a shade and disappears.
Farewell.
Tyl uses his Divine Sense to confirm what he already suspects

You take a deep breath through the nose, and the stench of undeath fills your nostrils, making you choke. You stagger back and trip over Frekor.
Farewell.
“... go back and report? Or try to find another way in?
