(Well we likely need someone to do middle watch. The DM will let us know if there needs to be any perception checks, then we see if anything happens during the night.)
As Hesta settles into her bedroll, curled up next to Griff, she waves a hand, and another animal appears, curling up with Hessta. The new animal is a tressym, solid-black in color. The tiny winged cat cuddles in with Hessta, purring loudly. (Hessta's familiar.)
When Hessta is woken up for her watch. She stretches and brushes sleep-tussled red hair from her face, then sits up. She leans her back against the griffon, as she helps keep watch. Her black tressym sits atop the sleeping griffon, eyes scanning the area as well.
Perception: 18 (Hessta is giving the help to her familiar, who is keeping watch.)
(OOC: We have someone doing first watch, an open second-watch slot, and Hessta doing third watch. One of you needs to take 2nd watch, someone not already doing 1st watch. Then we need a perception check from whomever is doing 1st and 2nd watches.)
Watch 1: With the moon high in the sky, gleaming white against the dark sky, Cora keeps a vigilant watch, and notices the howls of wolves from the forest ahead.
Watch 2: Despite warning Bari about the wolves, she doesn't notice anything because it's dark, she feels cold, and she was having a nice dream.
Watch 3: Tasking her familiar with the watch, and snuggling into her new friend, Hessta sees the sunrise without so much as the hoot of an owl.
With the quiet night behind them, Hessta rouses the others once her watch is over.
"I don't want us to split up, so I'll have Griff stay on the ground with us as we start into the forest." Hessta tells the others. "I could fly overhead, but I worry that the tree canapy might keep me from coming to your aid, or might cause us to get separated from each other." With that said she would mount the griffon and be ready to start into the darkness of the forest ahead. She would tie the lead, to her horse, to the griffon, and trade back and forth if the griffon starts to look tired. It likely is not use to having a rider after all.
You ride into the dense woods, and the farther you go, the darker it gets. You strain your ears very hard, listening for anything that could indicate anything around the trees or on the next path.
Whoever is leading needs to make a survival check please.
(I feel I should make it clear that I do not wish for a perception check, since there is nothing to perceive, I just want to see whether or not you guys get lost.)
"Which of you is good at telling which direction is which?" Hessta asks from atop Griff. "I am horrible with that sort of thing, so likely one of you better take the lead in here..."
(OOC: Just look at your survival modifier. Hessta has a -1 to Survival, so likely any of you would be better than she is at it.)
(so what now?)

Hessta hypnotised the Griffon and it is now a pet.
A perception roll would be good please.
Farewell.

It could have been worse. I could have sprung an Owlbear on you while you were watching and had it slaughter you before you could so much as squeak.
