"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
"That's an impressive amount of coin but I'll only charge ya 600 gold if ya agree to what I propose."
She moves to several locations around the room, lighting a candle at each before moving on to the next.
"I know of a ritual. It will take about an hour to perform. Select the finest instrument you like from my shop and I will restring it with the heartstrings while performing the ritual."
After lighting the last candle she moves to the center and waits for you to present her with an instrument.
"Upon completion you'll have an instrument capable of recreating the awe inspiring presence of a dragon, but only once a day."
(ooc: able to cast Fear 1/day without components or a spell slot.)
Petcan sets 600 gold on the counter and says "Sold!"
He spends some time looking over the instruments, not trying to rush before selecting a lyre, presenting it to the shopkeep.
"Ready when you are. The magical effects matter much less to me than the magical presentation and the lasting quality against the ravages of time... But this will do nicely."
Once she has the both the lyre and the heartstrings she begins a repetitive chant which lasts but for a few minutes before subsiding to an almost whisper. The rest of the hour passes rather uneventfully until near the end when she again raises her voice to a crescendo. In the final moments of the ritual each of the five candles winks out and from each a strange and eerie light flows into the lyre. Blue, green, red, white, and finally black. Black being the thickest and longest lasting but only by a margin.
When the smoke from the last candle fades away into nothing there is a brief silence before she speaks again,
"It is done!"
And then she slumps slowly to the ground putting one arm on the chair to keep herself from falling completely prone and rests her head on that arm.

It was a fine lyre to begin with and the heartstrings have been expertly strung. Nothing of the magic bestowed upon the lyre can be discerned from just looking but when you hold it the item has the familiarity and comfort of being handled for years.

Tempe turns to Randall and Zenodor "We should show him, the market place here."
He begins to do a strange sort of shuffle dance with his feet tapping and hitting the ground faster than any drummer you've ever seen.
"Market place! Market place!"
He leans over closer to Zenodor and whispers, "What's a market place?"

”Excellent. Let us go to the marketplace. We should return before evening to discuss what to do tomorrow, and we should have a signal in case there is a problem while we anre out. Can you whistle, Skrud? It wouldn’t seem unusual for a halfling,” inquires Randall.

"Good idea, Randall.
Also, Skrud: I can communicate with you telepathically. This way no one else can hear. When I do this, you must follow my instructions. It is for your own safety to allow us to keep you hidden and protected."
Z then demonstrates the telepathy and practices briefly with Skrud to make sure he gets it and recognises Z's instructions - if he has to send any
As a final precaution, Z will get Irraxan to invisible sit on Skrud's shoulder. This will allow further two-way communication and senses, plus Irraxan can actually do things if necessary.
Skrud eyes go wide when you first communicate telepathically with him.
"Skrud can do magic! Skrud make Zenodor's voice go in his head! Listen! Listen!" After a brief pause, "See!"

(I was thinking we stay nearby for key events while he's taking over [e.g. telepathically feeding him lines for his speech, etc]. For later, maybe we can arrange for him to have something like those sending stones we have so that he can contact us for further guidance/advice/[orders].
We certainly don't want to give him any sort of permanent boost. We need a puppet, and can't risk accidentally creating a new monster)
