Moocus blames the black dragon and later dracolich. Who would disobey orders from the likes of them?

Once the group is ready Tempe states "Lets, get back to town."

Randall:

If King Skrud wishes it, Randall will perform a coronation using his Ceremony spell before departing.  He wishes the goblin a long, fruitful, and relatively peaceful reign.  Then he heads back to town with the others on the carpet.

Pepin asks Moocus if the Dragon or Dracolich every mentioned any names.

"Only it's own and now that it's dead I'll never speak it again."

Moocus seems a little happier to be a chief again and/or the prospect of returning to their homes.

Pepin puts are reminder in his mind to check a library, or maybe some scholars for information regarding Nelofax(or however the name was spelled I believe it was approximately this)

Neforakx... but it was close enough that I knew what you meant.

"I have heard tales that Liches always have some sort of Phylactery that allows them to return from the dead - even after their whole body is destroyed. Is the same not true also of Dracoliches? I fear we should look into this and destroy it, if it exists, lest Neforakx comes back to battle us for a third time!"

Randall:

”Excellent idea!” Says Randall, a bit embarrassed that the same thought had not come to him.  “Let us carefully investigate the dracolich’s tent for such an item, as well as anything else it may have left behind.”

Detect Magic plus Perception:  12

The search of the large black tents reveals them to be temporary staging areas to keep the black dragon/dracolich out of sight. They contain bits of goblins that the creature was feeding on but lack any treasure, and also don't contain a phylactery.

You know it isn't... natural (for lack of a better word) that a creature such as this wouldn't keep it's treasure close, and then later when it became a dracolich it's phylactery.

Randall:

Gathering up a bit of the dracolich bone ash, Randall says, “I am not sure how to track down the dragon’s treasure horde it likely used as its phylactery, though this might help.  Perhaps Moocus knows where it laired?”

"I have the feeling Moocus didn't know much at all, and that the Dragon wouldn't have said anything about such things to him"

"Perhaps Scrying would work? If the dragon still exists, we know it and have some of its bone which should allow us to Scry on it which could reveal where it is."

Z picks up some of the bone, and casts Scrying on Neforakx 

WIS DC21. With -10 for body part, and possibly -5 for being familiar with it?

You can still cast the spell if you want, I'm not trying to dissuade you but you might already know, or Randall can tell you that liches sometimes take days to reform after being destroyed. Also, this can be prevented by finding and destroying their phylactery.

Pepin's hunch proves correct as you all find out from questioning Moocus. He basically followed the orders of Neforakx. He enjoyed being King for a while but disliked having to send goblins to be eaten by Neforakx and didn't understand what they were doing overall. The travel to get here wasn't that bad but just camping outside a city with such strong walls and so many wizard towers seemed sort of pointless to him.

Tempe thinks upon, what is said "What, would this look like? Maybe a crown? Or does it have to be a vessel?'

"Just on tales I was told as a child, I believe it could be almost any object. But at the same time, Liches and Dragon both have huge Egos, and that must go doubly for Dracoliches. I doubt it would be some basic mundane item. The absence of treasure is also most peculiar for a Dragon, is it not? Perhaps the first step should be to try to find its lair or treasure hoard. It cannot have always lived in the tent, so must have had some previous place of dwelling."

Z also ask Moocus about this, just in case he knows something.

"Let's get into town, let the people in charge know that the goblins should be going home. And afterwards start our investigations in Neforakx, maybe one of the universities or libraries has info on him"

Randall:

”Fair enough,” agrees Randall to going back to town, “I need to go by the temple anyway.”

Randall says his goodbyes to King Skrud and waits on the magic carpet for the others to join him.

As there is no clue here or in the tent that might help them find the Phylactery, Zenodor agrees that heading back into the city may be the best option. He follows the others to the flying carpet.
