(we haven't tried talking to them yet, have we? Maybe someone should go in to the single plant to try to parlay. If it fails, we can still charge in and blast them to avernus)

If you want to try some non-aggressive method such as laying down your arms and using sign language, or using visual illusions, or music... apply the relevant roll for whichever you try:
1. Laying down arms: Persuasion. 2. Using illusions: Deception. 3. Playing music: Performance.
Whoever uses one of the methods makes the roll. Different people can try different things. (Even stuff not mentioned yet.)

"A rightful place awaits you in the Realms Above, in the Land of the Great Light. Come in peace, and live beneath the sun again, where trees and flowers grow."
— The message of Eilistraee to all decent drow.
"Run thy sword across my chains, Silver Lady, that I may join your dance.”
Upon hearing Petcan's flute the Purplewrath in the middle of the clearing begins swaying gently to the music and doesn't move to attack.

Zenodor takes a deep breath, mutter to himself "I can't believe we're even trying this", and then slowly steps forward into the clearing.
He keeps a respectful distance from the plant and stops. He then lays down his weapons (daggers, + did Z get the sword of alertness?) slowly onto the ground and tries to be as calming as possible.

Using his telephaty, he communicates "We come in peace. We do not wish to harm you" to the plant (just trying in case it works)

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Bow was standing at the back doubting that the things they were trying were gonna help against these kind of awakened plants, an yet the sudden spray of purple mist caught him by surprise a bit.

Can anyone talk to plants? The natives must, sort of

OOC. Z has
"Awakened MindPHB, pg. 110
You can telepathically speak to any creature you can see within 30 ft. of you if it understands at least one language."
That might work

Reminder for myself. Work together or fail apart. Talk with each other when necessary. Describe how, where, if, your character moved.

Bow can't speak to plants either

(Randall can cast Tongues again, but that only works if the creatures have a language).

(I guess the question is: do plants speak some language?
If not, could we try doing some sign-language type things? Approach unthreateningly and put down arms? If so, what would we need to roll for?)

The natives used music
"I could uh... I could try to communicate to them with a song?"
Paladin - warforged - orange
"Were they really communicating? I thought they were just luring them into the pit. More like snake charmers rather than communicating"
(but by all means, I'd love a plant-communicating song if we think that might work. Please RP in great detail, lyrics tune and all)
Petcan pulls out his flute from his pack and begins to play one of his familiar songs, a quiet, happy little tune

@Zenodor
It feels like your mental voice is echoing through a vast cavern.
The Purplewrath swaying in front of you picks up in the speed of it's swaying and you briefly have two images flash through your mind.
The first is you and your allies fighting the six Purplewraths at the pit.
The second is you and your allies fighting the fourteen Purplewraths at the 1st nest.
Then it sprays a purple mist at you and hear a response screamed in your head, "Liar! Slayer of children!"
(Everyone roll for initiative.)
