Neither Arisa nor Zyllith are any to spot any more goblins, except for the one that Miros grabs with his massive arms. You can hear a muffled squeal along with the sound of bones cracking as he crushes the small creature within his grasp. Miros then throws the broken body to the ground, takes a few deep breaths and climbs back over the fence to join you.
“Brave buggers, they must a’ broke in somewhere.”
Miros has a couple of injuries, but doesn’t show it. The Shou woman, still stoic, nonetheless has a few serious injuries, even as she tries to keep her wits calm and break off the arrow shafts that stock out of her body.
She responds, “I told that incompetentStrog to strengthen the defenses after the last attack!”
You recall seeing her scolding one of the guards yesterday when you entered the town.
"Where did they come from? Perhaps more of them are near. We should send out scouts." Osmord muses as he snips the toes from the dead goblins and pops them in his pickle jar.
He sighs heavily as he takes in the sight of all the damage.
"Osmord is right. We should see if there are more ravaging bands out there. Gods, I hope not. I was starting to get worried there for a while. Crowley, could you fly around the town and surrounding area and check if there are any more attackers? We should also question the two goblins that Osmord left sleeping by the town square. Does anyone think all these recent attacks could have anything to do with what the dragon was talking about?"
Belkas gasps as he pulls the arrow out of his thigh and then throws it on the ground. "Well fought everyone, by the way."
As Shalvus runs into the pens to check on his flock and round up some of the chickens and pigs that have gotten loose, the Shou woman answers Osmord, although eyeing him with a little bit of concern when he proceeds to remove goblin toes.
"They must have climbed over the wall somewhere. I warned him that he should put more sentries up there to keep watch for more. And yes, if we have already encountered two groups, it's quite likely that there could be more. We should keep looking, for I fear that this ordeal is far from over. I left Oren to watch over the two goblins that you put to sleep after I tied them up. However, I think our time is better spent trusting our own eyes and ears rather than the worlds of two cowardly goblins."
"By the way, I would thank you all for your help in protecting this town. Goldenfields is the bread basket of the north and many people depend on its safety and prosperity. It is no small task to see that it remains safe."
Naxene comes over to talk to Arisa
"You fight with much courage, Arisa, and you clearly display an impressive array of arcane skill, as do your friends. Many thanks to you for your help here, we could not have defeated this group without you. I fear that Zi Liang is right, though, we should be on the lookout for more of these horrid creatures."
Meanwhile, Crowley flies upward to do some aerial reconnaissance and see if he spots any more monsters about.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“thank you Naxene. I owe my gifts to Mystra, as well as my courage. That was close with the Ogres-a bit too close - for both Vernon and I. We should search the bodies and see if there are any clues as to the source of these beasts, or anything of use for defense”
16 investigation (or passive 13) to search the ogre and bodies near arisa.
"Well, I commend you and your friends for your bravery. I have never seen anyone fight an ogre... the are terrifying monsters indeed. I am glad that I was far enough away from them to avoid taking the kinds of brutal hits that you and your gnome friend endured... Honestly, I don't know how you are still standing!"
Searching the bodies, you find that each bugbear carries a pouch that holds one more more gemstones; small pieces of obsidian, hematite and blue quartz, (There are 14 gems total, each of which you figure is worth about 10gp.) Each goblin has a few copper coins in their pouches, (20cp in total between all the ones you search.) as well as various worthless belongings (necklaces made of woven dwarf beards and strung with halfling ears, bowls made from human skulls, and the like). The ogres have no treasure, and there is nothing on any of them that would give you clues to who they are, where they came from, or why the are here.
(Is Arisa going to heal any of the villagers? Zi Liang took the most hits, followed by Miros, then Naxene.)
Zyllith casually wiped the blood off her rapier on a bugbear's fur as she helped Arisa search the bodies, though 'help' might be a strong word as she didn't seem too interested in closely dealing with the smelly creatures, "Aye, these beasties aren't like ta crash a major city such as this one with jus' this lot. Got ogres an' bears an' gobbies all in 'ere. Gotta be somethin' big ta get a group like that ta' attack here. There's bound ta' be more of their kin about."
“I hope we scared them off for now- I am afraid I won’t be very effective in the next battle if it is tonight, but I can support from afar. ”. She says. After helping with bandaging up other villagers, (she has a +7 medicine so maybe she can take 10 on that?) She would like to take a short rest at least .
The three villages graciously accept your healing, and the Shou woman introduces herself to you.
"I greatly appreciate your help with this battle and offer my thank you for me and these other members of our town. I remember seeing you all pass through the gates yesterday afternoon, but we have not formally met yet. I am Zi Liang, devout worshiper of the Earth Mother and sworn defender of Goldenfields."
(The take 10 mechanic in 3.5/pathfinder was pretty useful, I don’t think it’s really a thing in 5e, but for RP stuff like bandaging villagers it’s good. Who’s tracking our loot log?)
"Well met, Osmord, and again, my thanks to you for your aid in helping us dispatch with these monstrous invaders."
Just then, Crowley flies back to Belkas and informs him that there is another band of goblins, bugbears and ogres directly to the west, a few hundred feet away from you, moving from through the fields near the grain towers that lie southeast of your current position.
Belkas picks up a small buckle from the armor of a dead hobgoblin and slips it into his purse. He says, "Thank you for the healing, Osmord, that feels better." Turning to the others, he says, "If anyone finds a gem containing tears worth at least 300 gold, I need one to cast a new spell."
Just then, Crowley flies back. Belkas says, "Bad news everyone, there is another band of goblins, hobgoblins, and ogres just a few hundred feet to the west, heading towards the grain towers to the southwest. Are you up for another fight? I wonder if we reached the towers first if we could get inside and use them for cover and better positioning. You know what they say about the advantages of higher ground."
“I’m hurt and mostly have depleted my magical power, but I can attack from range and cover. - let’s go for the towers if they can be defended like that?” She looks at the Villagers for their thoughts.
For clarification, Crowley informs you that the group is actually moving away from the grain towers, making their way west across the fields.
Zi Liang says, "They must have tried to plunder the grain storage.... I don't know if they would have been able to break in, but if they're moving west, they could be trying to head back towards the wall. Maybe that's where the breach happened. We must go, quickly!!"

Osmord turns to see Belkas extracting the arrow, "Do you need healing? There may yet be more fighting, and you need your strength."
(If Belkas consents Osmord will heal him for 6 health.)

(Yes- arisa will heal -
10 to Zi Ling, and 14 to Miros, and 7 to Naxene.
Clearly injured herself, she helps the others first, then she uses her channel divinity to recover a second level spell slot.

Osmord finishes his grisly work and fastens his pickle jar, tucking it away safely in his shell. He bows his head in greeting to Zi Liang.
"I am named Osmord. We were pleased to assist here, as my good friend says." he nods toward Arisa.
Caw! Worm announces her presence as she lands on Osmords shell and surveying the battle field.

“Ok, let’s go! “. Arisa starts running in the direction indicated, being careful to get cover if she can as they get closer.
