"Aye, in tha' case I'll wan' check out another shop rioght quick. Plus a bit o' barterin' 'ere an' thar. I'll likewise be seein' ye' lot at tha Blue Ewe." Zyllith will also take the opportunity to split off on her own. Having seen what's available at Riatur's Weaponry, she heads back over to Saern's Fine Swords to compare their inventory.
Leaving the weapon shop, you and Zyllith turn right and head back to the High Road and walk north, until they reach the Saern's Fine Swords, right. While Zyllith enters the shop that looks like a miniature castle, you continue along the High Road and follow it north until you come to Delzorin Street. Turning left (west), begin walking through the Sea Ward section of Waterdeep, which is the wealthiest ward of the city, located in the northwest. From previous visits, you know that this area contains many villas, and many of the city's largest temples, as well as merchant shops that cater more to the higher end; such as gems, glassware, books, tomes, etc...
After a long walk down Delzorin Street, you cross Diamond Street, then turn on Flint Street and reach the House of Wonder at the corner of Flint Street and Pharra's Alley.
The grounds of the House of Wonder are surrounded by a fine gate of wrought iron, each spoke in the gate topped with the Eightfold Star of Mystra at the crosspoint. The grounds themselves are wrought of fine white marble cobblestones, with blue-white cobbles forming the mosaic of the Eightfold Star from which rises the temple.
In Waterdeep, the Church of Mystra has long played a secondary role to the Watchful Order of Magists & Protectors because the sale of spells and magic items is traditionally in the province of the guild, not the church. Waterdeep's Mystran church is closely allied with the Church of Selune, and the two faiths work together to battle the followers of Shar.
Entering the great circular tower of the House of Wonder itself at the second floor, you find yourself in a vast pillared circular chamber. In the center is a circular altar from which rises a flickering blue-white flame. Those who approach the altar find the flames parting, and the image of a serene, slightly aloof goddess - a depiction of Mystra - gazing at them from out of the flame, no matter which direction they approach the altar from.Small side alcoves either provide access to the stairs up or down (and are usually watched over by an acolyte), or harbor small sitting areas with priests ready and able to discuss the needs of the faithful. The southermost alcove also holds a holy water font, where the faithful may purchase Mystran holy water.
There are a few Mystran acolytes in here, as well as a handful of people who are here to pray.
Belkas waves to the others as they head off. He turns to Riatur and asks, "Could you tell me the best place to find a skilled leather worker. I am looking for someone who could transform my current leather armor into studded armor, while still keeping the same general design. It, ah, serves me of a reminder of things I have seen in the past, and I would not want to loose it. I also need to find a jewler."
The firbolg woman waits until after Belkas’ question is answered. “I am not one for weapons and armor - but do you know the direction of an herbalist? I have some training in healing and want to restock my supplies.”
Once inside Saern's Fine Swords Zyllith will begin to look around the inventory on display as she looks for some manner of shopkeep to ask about a weapon replacement.
She fully intends to make use of her charms as she speaks to those working inside this lovably weapons shop, "'Ey mate! Lovely morn' ta' ye'. Was hopin' ye' might show me yer deadliest rapier."
Entering the shop, Zyllith can see that the weapons on display appear to be of fine quality, and they’re arranged with an obvious sense of pride. Greeting one of the shopkeepers, a tall human man with close cut dark hair and a clean shaven face, he answers,
”Our deadliest rapier…? In the right hands, any weapon can be deadly, but from your accent, my guess is that you have enough miles under your belt to know that already.”
”I do have some especially sharp rapiers, with just the right balance of stiffness and flex, forged with the finest Tethyrian craftsmanship.”
Walking you over to a display, the man shows you two different weapons. Both appear to be made with very high craftsmanship, and one has a more subdued “cup” design on the hilt and pommel with a black grip, while the other has a much more decorated flourish of thin metal rings in the hilt and a bright red cord wrap on grip.
”Either of these strike your fancy?”

Belkas and Siobhan
Riatur answers Belkas, “For custom armor work, I’d go to Hilmer’s, as I told your friend. There’s also a leather worker down by the docks. Might be less expensive there, and that’s probably the better option for what you’re askin’”
To Siobhan, he answers, “There’s a few of ‘em in the city. You’re gonna have to ask somebody else or just start pick a direction and start walkin’ around. I’m sure you’ll find one eventually.”
"Aye, ye could say tha'."Zyllith smiles pleasantly at the shopkeeper. The choice to her is obvious, the more decorated rapier matches her style far better, not to mention the bright red cord wrap pairs well with her skin color. Of course in these matters it was always best not to seem TOO interested. She gestured casually at the decorated rapier of choice as she asked, "May I?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Siobhan thanks Riatur and exits the shop, slipping into the alley behind. A moment later, a shaggy street dog trots into the street and sniffs the air for the familiar scents of medicinal herbs Perception 29.
The shopkeeper says, "Of course," and he hands her the rapier. It feels extremely well balanced in her hands, the weight is good, and the metal work is of very high quality.
Siobhan
Walking out into the streets of Waterdeep, she can only marvel at the size and endless bustle of the city. With all of different smells that permeate the air, she can't pick out any particular smell that would indicate that a herbalist is very close by. If you want to keep moving, just pick a direction: The Waterdeep Way goes east and west, the High Road goes north north, and there's a road nearby that also runs south, called the Way of the Dragon. There are also numerous side streets and alleys just about everywhere. You watch as Vernon and Belkas beginning heading south along The High Road.
Vernon and Belkas
Leaving the shop, you being heading down The High Road, which will take you all the way to the southeast corner of the city, where the Dock Ward is located. As you walk, you take in the signs, sound and smells of a very busy city in the peak of the mid morning hours, although having been here before, it's seems that Waterdeep is never not busy.
Zyllith flashes a smile at the shopkeeper before taking hold of the rapier in question. After getting a good feel for the weapon she takes a few test swings with it before showing a expert thrust. Satisfied with the weapon, she twirls it around her fingers, her left hand fingertips dancing lightly down the blade.
"So, how much do ye wanna offer ta' take this lovely blade of yer 'ands?" She gives the shopkeeper a charming smile.
"Ah... that's a fine choice, and I can see that you're quite deft with this kind of blade. The rapier is a delicate instrument. It's not mere hack and slash with this one, it takes precision; timing and knowing how to strike quickly; get in and out before your enemy enemy even knows what hit 'em."
"Tetheryian made with exceptional craftsmanship and design on the hilt. That red grip seems to fit you well, and the decorations positively match the flourish of your skill. It'll be 40 Dragons for that one."
"Yer very kind ta' notice. Tis' a gran' blade, no doubt. One fit well for me arm an' skill. T'would be a shame ta see such a fine tool go ta' waist hanging 'cross a fat noble's belly fer all times. Would'nae be better ta' see this piece o' art go to one who can wield it like an artisan brush in tha' battlefield? Alas a strugglin' artist like meself would only 'ave 30 coins ta' offer ye. I'm sure a fine appreciator of blade artistry such as yerself would be 'appy ta' support tha' craft wit' this much."
Zyllith was fully enjoying the artistic haggling as she leaned in close to the shopkeeper, calling out with flirts and pandering as part of the game she was engaged in.
Arisa will seek out the most senior cleric of Mystra available to report on the giant activities and the other disturbing events. She will also get advice on an armorer.
The merchant appears to be at least somewhat engaged with the haggling process. He responds to Zyllith with a deep breath and a tight smile. "Of course, I would rather see this fine weapon in the hands of a capable swashbuckler like yourself, instead of locked away in some villa over in the Sea Ward, where it will never see a proper duel. However, we are talking fine Tethyrian work here. It's not regular blade, but you know that. What about 35 Dragons, and you tell me a bit about where you come from and how you've gained your skill?"
Arisa
After speaking with one of the acolytes, Arisa is directed to an older cleric with red hair and a thick torso. "Greetings, child and follower of the Magic Mother. I am told that you have urgent news to share with me. What tidings to you bring to the Mistress?"
Zyllith figured she wasn't going to get a better deal then that. Haggling is fun and all, but outstaying your welcome was a sure way to sour the experience. At least she was enjoying the moment, however. "Ah well aren't ye' kind? Wanting ta' know the story of a certain lovely lass whot strolled inta' yer lovely shop. Very well, mate, ye' gotta deal! Only fair ye' know tha start of tha story this blade be writtin' in me' hand." She bowed with a flourish of the sword in hand before the shopkeeper, after which she reached into her coin pouch and began to pull out the 35 gold pieces for the blade even as she spoke about her past.
"I come from far ta' the east, though not so far as ye' need worry. No, I spent me' days in tha Sea o' Fallen Stars, an' as such spent plenty o' time among many a pirate vessel among tha' Isles. Pirates' be viscous folk, so a skilled blade hand will serve ye' well. 'Course the rolling waves beneath ye' will rioght teach ya' the value of light, agile feat an' nimble hands. Some o' the truly talented pirate folk learned their finer skills from travelers whot crossed tha sea. Turns out, tha' long precision reach o' tha rapier proved mighty deadly when stabbing between ropes an' planks atop a deck, or even below fer tha'd matter. Aye, I'm not tha' best pirate sword master out there, not yet 'least. But I did learn a thin' or two by watchin' tha' best."
With that the final coin was placed atop the counter as Zyllith reached for the scabbard to resheath the newly purchased rapier, "An' tha's that. Hope ye enjoyed me' story at least as much as ye' enjoy me coin." She gave the shopkepper a playful wink as she smiled back.
The shopkeeper listens intently, and with keen interest. However, he doesn’t let her go quite so easily.
”I’m sure that with your talent, and this fine blade, you’ll make your mark, but tell me, who IS the best sword wielding pirate out there on the Sea of Fallen Stars?”
Siobhan turns east along the Waterdeep Way. She continues along, both looking and smelling for an herbalist. She could revert and ask for directions but feels much safer as a dog; if she sees another firbolg she might risk it.
