As the evening progresses, you all, minus Vernon, who still has not returned, enjoy the food, drink and entertainment inside the Blew Ewe. There's a great selection of poets, storytellers and musical acts that delight, amuse and please the crowd inside the common room. Having told his own epic poem last night, Elion remains in the audience and cheers for his friends and the other acts that play, sing, and narrate a variety of topics, moods and musical styles.
Eventually, the order comes around to Eileen and Zyllith, who is now blessed with guidance from Arisa. The unlikely, but seemingly engaging due of the swashbuckling tiefling and the half-elven bard take the stage, and Eileen begins your set by strumming a fun, but slightly mysterious sounding progression on her lute, as she looks over at Zyllith to begin his vocal/spoken accompaniment.
The crowd seems immediately engaged by the Eileen's lute playing, and all eyes are on Zyllith in anticipation for what kind of story, song or this charismatic woman might open with.
Siobhan watches the goings on with interest. It would be so easy to return to her room and hide from the commotion, but these performances intrigue her and even remind her a bit of home, when the meal was done and the storytellers began their work.
With a swish of her wrist, Zyllith's shiny new blade flashes across the stage as she begins her retelling in the most dramatic fashion. It is, for the most part a repeat of her earlier performance, but with everything turned up just a bit more. Several new embellishments added in, many of which she had come up with since her first attempt. The giants were a little bit bigger, their goblin hordes were a bit more numerous, the orges were a bit more unyielding. Though they all fell in the end to the might of the unrelenting heroes that faced them! ... Though certainly the convenient appearance of the brass dragon was a misleading exaggeration to say the least, but overall the idea remained; expressing the mortal danger faced by the average everyday people under attack by this Giant threat, as well as the dire warning that the danger had not passed.
And of course, how the Dragon's Aces were such amazing heroes who would be at the forefront this terrible conflict!
It was certainly an impassioned performance, though hardly a professional one, as Zyllith merely went along with whatever artistic fancy inspired her at the moment as she told her tale before the entire tavern.
Rolling Performance with advantage ( I'm assuming Eileen is helping ) plus Arisa's guidance: 18+2+1 = 21
"You might think it was the orcs, or the giants, or the flying fiend, but no. It was the goblin chuckers. Here was a perfectly good piece of technology, twisted to guarantee kills without guaranteeing any benefits. What kind of leader allows his troops to commit to suicidal operations with no honor? How prevalent is this travesty? Giants carrying siege weapons makes sense. The ammunition walking in on their own feet, with hours of work on their spikes... maybe they didn't know they would die. But if they didn't know, then their leader withheld critical information, or worse, straight up lied to them. Technology should benefit people, not kill them every time it is used. I want to end this misuse. I want to be known as an adventurer who stands for what is good, against all the corrupting powers of evil!" Vernon finishes his speach, punctuating it with a mug banged on the table. "But about that payment. Maybe I can throw in some perfume I've acquired on my travels?" (He leaves out the part where Nightstone, where he got the perfume, isn't that exotic, not knowing where it was actually made.)
Belkas sits with his back to the wall, and identifies the different exits to the tavern. He watches people to see who is armed and potentially dangerous, but as the night goes on, he finds himself relaxing and enjoying himself. He applauds loudly for his companions' performance.
In a moment of calm, he asks the others, "Does anyone know where Vernon went? I am starting to get worried. The city is not a safe place, as I found out this morning."
Siobhan stiffens at Belkas’ words. She had found no troubles in her confused city wanderings, but that didn’t meant there was no trouble to be found. Night had fallen and one of the pack was missing.
“I agree,” she says. “I have not seen Vernon since we parted. And one alone is always a better target.”
Zyllith's performance with Eileen is well received by the audience at the Blue Ewe, and they get a rousing applause with many raised mugs in response to the amazing flourish of descriptive embellishments, rapier showmanship and captivating musical accompaniment. Their turn on the stage earns them a total of 40 sp from audience tips. Following them is a solemn halfling who recites a long poem about unrequited love with a dragon, which turns out to be quite witty and comedic.
Vernon
Ovina cuddles up closely as she listens to Vernon's long and thoughtful response. She's especially intrigued, and repulsed by the whole idea of goblin huckers, and she tells you that in her youth, a rampant goblin tribe took a couple of her cousins.
"Well, dear, it sounds like you're a man of vision! Not just a mere adventurer out for gold and glory, but someone who genuinely wants to make a better world! You don't see that in everyone... in fact, you see it in far too few people. Most folk are just tryin' to get by, or else they're tryin' to steal from those who do honest work. From what I seen, most adventuring' types are just trying to fill their purses and egos... but you..."
"You're something special, and I could tell it from the minute you walked into my shop."
She gives him firm squeeze and a kiss on the cheek. At the mention of perfume, she replies,
"Ooooh!!! I'd love some nice perfume! That's somethin' I never buy for myself. Smith work ain't exactly made for people who want to smell nice, but it sure would be nice to not smell like steel and charcoal sometimes. Sure, we can work it in your payment. That's very sweet of you."
Finishing her last glass of ale, Ovina looks at you with a coy smile and a wink, and says,
"It's gettin' late, Vernon, and I got a big day ahead o' me tomorrow, fixing up some gear for a reckless, giant slaying adventurer. So how's about you walk me home?"
"Certainly. My companions will be looking for me if I don't return soon." Vernon will pay the tab and take Ovina home, before returning to the Blue Ewe, unless interrupted.
Ovina thanks Vernon for a wonderful date and she holds his hand as he walks her home. It’s a short stroll, only a few blocks to her flat, and when they arrive, she plants a quick kiss on his cheek before going inside, and asks if he’d like to spend more evenings with her during the next few days.
When he leaves her, Vernon returns to the Blue Ewe without incident, navigating through the seemingly ever busy streets of Waterdeep. Upon arrival, he sees his companions in the common room, hanging out with the three new adventurers that they’ve met, although he missed Zyllith’s wildly entertaining performance with Eileen.
Eventually, the evening ends and you all retire to your rooms upstairs, quite tired from a very long and busy day.
———————————
Ok everyone, it looks like you’ll be here in Waterdeep for about a week, while Belkas and Vernon have the repairs done on their gear. Let me know how you want to spend your downtime in the city, and if there are specific activities or tasks you’d like to undertake or accomplish.
Examples might be research, religious services, carousing/partying/gambling, exploring the city, looking or shopping for a specific item, training, relaxing, finding extra work, committing crimes, crafting items, socializing, gathering info, etc… You can chose to do more than one.
For example, Belkas needs some eyes; maybe he would spend time looking for those in some way, Siobhan wants to craft healing potions, and maybe Vernon wants to spend more time with Ovina.
In regards to distributing group loot, Zyllith will soon announce to the group that she managed to sell off the various random treasures they had accumulated for actual coins. 150 platinum coins specifically, which she would distribute evenly among the group. ( That's 30 platinum each for everyone, 25 platinum if you include Elion. )
In addition to that she brings up to the whole group that she has a number of things in need of identification before deciding what to do with them. This includes several potions.
Starting with a vial of glimmering red liquid and a vial of thick liquid that resembles syrup, both of which she received from Caldur. As well as an additional glass vial full of opaque blue liquid, which she found in a chest way back in Nightstone.
Lastly she received a fine silver necklace set with a jade pendant, also from Caldur, which should be appraised/identified. She is very partial to that pendant, and will gladly share the tale of her meeting with Caldur and their conversations.
With one week of downtime, Siobhan spends her time crafting one potion of greater healing. If the downtime goes on a few more days after that, she will complete brewing all her healing supplies for another 2 potions of healing. Either way, the times she is not brewing she is exploring the city, sometimes as a firbolg and sometimes as a shaggy street dog or a cat. She visits the parks Dreali told her about and tries to find signs of the natural world.
she also fully supports splitting the money with Elion.
The black pearl pendant that Zi Liang gave you is worth 750 gp, and the silver and jade necklace is worth 250 gp. Feel free to assume that you’re able to sell those to the jeweler that Zyllith visited for those values.
( Do I still have the black pearl pendant? I thought I handed that over to Caldur. As for the potions, let me know if you want them. I think it would make sense to give the heroism and/or the invulnerability potion to Vernon since he's currently our tankiest. )
Zyllith - You presented it to Calder, but the post doesn’t specifically say if you gave it to him or kept it. I’ll leave it up to what you think she would have done.
( Zyllith would have offered it over to Caldur since that's what Zi Liang asked us to do, if I recall. Just thought he took it in exchange, not sure if he refused it now.
To keep it simple, I'm gonna say Zyllith would have definitely handed it over cause she promised she would, so she doesn't have it anymore.
She'll keep the jade silver necklace for herself as a memento, at least for now. So she would have been wearing it while performing. :D
So we can just decide what to do with the potions that are left over. I'd like to keep the potion of healing, just in case, since if anyone goes down she's the most likely to be able to move to their location and use it on other people. )
If you’re looking to seek out and purchase a magic item, like the Amulet you mentioned, I would need you to roll a Charisma check, and it would require 100 gp in expenses to seek out and make the necessary contacts over the course of one week. For every additional 100 gp you spend and each additional week, you get a +1 bonus to your roll.
(Charisma Check- not good for her! Still she feels seeking this out and putting it to good use would be what Mystra would want her to do. She spends the 100 gold and ….rolls a natural 20 (which is. 19! For her) in the campaign log.!)

Arisa gives the performers a smile. “ Mystra’s blessing be with you!” She will use guidance to help.

You can describe either IC or OOC.
(We still have some more money we’ve not divided up right?). Arisa would like to try to research finding an Amulet of the Devout)

She ritual casts. Detect magic and studies them, with 17, 15, 16 arcana checks
she also studies the necklace with detect magic.
