Arisa does not hear anything at the door, and when Zyllith checks it, she finds that it is not locked.
However, before you can turn the latch, you hear a female voice inside. Through the door, the voice, which sounds like it's that of a young woman, says, "It's ok, you can come in. I'm not a threat, and I'm alone, so please don't hurt me."
Zyllith was about to reach for the door before the voice on the other side called out to her. Instead she steps back, giving Arisa a look that conveyed both her confusion and her caution. Before Arisa steps into the room, Zyllith steps out of sight and tries to remain unnoticed, ready to dive in and help if this turns out to be some kind of trap.
When Arisa steps into the room, she sees a young human woman who appears to be in her twenties standing in the half demolished room. She is of sleight build, with well defined, but not excessively chiseled features, and shoulder length dirty blonde hair. She wears simple traveler's clothes, and lying on the desk near her you can see a belt that holds a short sword in its scabbard. A small green snake with webbed wings is coiled around her left arm, its head resting nuzzled against her bicep.
You can see that the falling rock punched a hole in the roof and tore away most of the floor before coming to rest in the dining room. It destroyed two beds and a wardrobe as it passed through the chamber, leaving a desk and chair tucked under the window in the northeast corner of the room unscathed.
"Who... Who are you? Is it safe to come out? There was a goblin downstairs earlier..."
“I am Arisa. My companions and I have slain or scared off the goblins and wargs we’ve met so far. “ she says “ may I ask who are you? How did you survive what happened here? And what can you tell us about it?“.
Arisa is suspicious of the girl. She will try also to identify the winged snake.
Belkas, hearing the voice come from behind the door, stepped back against the wall and cast a Minor Illusion of an unassuming bookcase and crouched down inside it, keeping his eyes on the rest of his team.
The woman Arisa, "My name is Kella. I am a traveling monk, who unfortunately arrived here in Nightstone at the wrong time. I was here in my room when the attack occurred and was knocked unconscious by the the falling debris when the inn was hit by the giants's rocks. When I awoke, everyone else was gone. I tried to flee, but my plan to escape thwarted by the sudden arrival of all the goblins. I didn't know how many were out there... and I could hear that they had works it just seemed too dangerous to go out there alone, so I continued to hide here in my room."
"I didn't actually see any of the giants, and I don't know what they wanted. As for the goblins, I don't think they had anything to do with the original attack. They're opportunities, and likely took advantage of the empty town to do their looting."
"Who are you people and what are you doing here? It looks like you had some trouble with the goblins yourselves. Are there still some out there?"
Arisa
Arisa gets a vibe that the woman is not being entirely truthfully, although it's hard to pinpoint exactly what part of her story may not be accurate. Maybe it's just that she doesn't seem as afraid as perhaps she should for what she said happened to her.
Arisa replies:”Well met Kella , it is nice to see someone here who is not a goblin! Yes, we fought several goblins and some of us were hurt in the battle. We just recently arrived in town ourselves, and are exploring the ruins and hoping to find survivors. That is an interesting pet you have- is it friendly?
What order of monks do you belong to?”
Arisa, while coming closer, will look at the girl (a medicine check) to see if she has a head wound or anything else, showing her story is true.
Lol 6 (1+5) In the roller....
She continues “yes there are some more goblins we believe, you can join us while we explore if my companions are ok with it, or if you prefer you can remain here.”
"Thank you, I would say that same. It was a rather stressful day and night yesterday. I'm sorry to hear that some of you were hurt, but you all still walk, so that is no small victory at least."
"Yes, he is friendly. At least to me. If you do not make threatening moves towards him, he will not show any aggression. I am a disciple of the Standing Tree Monastery, a student in the pursuit of knowledge.
"I would prefer to remain here... I am hesitant to head back out there until I know that the village is free of goblins."
Arisa
Moving closer to examine the woman, she doesn't appear to have a head wound that you can see. If there is one, it could be hidden by her hair. And even if she does not have a visible wound, that alone is no surefire indication that her story isn't true.

Arisa says “very well, stay here and stay safe, we will hope to see you later, after things are secure. We are going to check the other rooms to see if there are survivors”.
"Thank you, and you be safe as well. I don't know how many goblins are still out there, but they can be crafty little creatures. One on one, they're not too bad, but get them in a group, or give them somewhere to hide and they can quickly become a real headache. And I'm pretty sure there's no one let here inside the inn, but I don't know about the rest of the village."
Arisa
Arisa has heard of the Standing Tree Monastery, and what Kella has said about their pursuit of knowledge seems to jive with the little bit that she knows about the group.
Zyllith
Zyllyth is able to remain hidden behind the door, and as far as she can tell, Kella has not noticed her. Listening to her talk, you don't hear inflections or vocal styles that are common to those who run in the underworld. Of course, anyone can hide or change their speech partners, so that's not a very good indication.

Arisa says “we will be careful, we hope to see you later, bye for now”, and she goes to check the other Unopened rooms- the one not being checked by Osmord. Same thing- she listens at the door, and then will open it.
Belkas continues to croach inside his illusionary bookshelf, recasting when necessary, and ready to blast anyone who attacks Arisa, Zyllith, or Osmord. He wonders where worm is and what it is doing.
You find nothing inside the third room, it's basically the same as the first room was; unoccupied, with nothing of value in here. Assuming you follow the same pattern with the fourth room, you open the door to find that this room is slightly more nicely decorated than the other three. Hanging on the east wall is a tapestry depicting a mountain landscape. Arisa has heard that the owner of the Nightstone inn is a dwarf named Morak, so you guess this is where he slept when he wasn't pouring ale.
However, much of this room was destroyed when a rock flattened the northwest corner of the inn. What remains of the floor appears to be safe to walk on. You see a wooden chest tucked under the window in the southeast corner. It is locked.
Arisa quietly says “Zyllith- maybe we should see if there’s anything useful in this chest?” Cautiously, arisa stays off the unsupported floor to allow the Tiefling to approach the chest.

Zyllith eyed the woman Arisa had spoken to carefully back and forth from her hiding spot, but she couldn't spot anything of interest about her beyond the obvious. There was no clear reason to distrust her, but there wasn't much cause to trust her either. In the end the woman was a mystery. There was something about her that Zyllith didn't like, but she had to clue whatsoever as to what it might be.
Well there was no sense worrying about it, she decided, and instead made her way carefully to avoid being spotted by the woman before joining back up with Arisa.
"Strange lass that one." Zyllith whispered quietly to her companion, "Somthin' 'bout her 'ah rubs off wrong, but can't put me finger on. Migh' be nothin', 'course. But that one was awe'fuly chatty an' calm fer someone ye'd expect ta be scared fer their lives, surrounded by gobbies an' all."
Zyllith will continue to assist Arisa as she searches the rooms. Eventually she will move over to the locked chest, check it for traps before trying to unlock it with her thieves tools.
Arisa says quietly “I agree, strange one. She wasn’t being fully truthful, I am sure of that- but I couldn’t tell what she was lying about. I have read a little about the order she claims to belong to. We should keep an eye on her when we see her next”. She says another prayer for zyllith as the Tiefling breaks out her picks.
While Arisa checks the door, Zyllith gives her a reassuring wink as she checks to see if the door is locked, ready to unlock it if it is.
Arisa does not hear anything at the door, and when Zyllith checks it, she finds that it is not locked.
