Belkas only needed a short rest and offered to keep watch. However, lulled by the silence of the afternoon, he found himself deeply drawn into a game of Three Dragon Ante Solitaire. He jumped guiltily when Arisa started moving around and quickly put the cards away.
"The keep sounds wonderful. If there are any survivors, I imagine they will be there. Everything here has been eerily quiet."
"Ok, we will go now then, I feel safer with the raven ahead somehow. Strange how quiet this place is..."
She leads the way down the stairs and across the village, keeping her eyes and ears open for any ambushes. We will go to the broken bridge shown on the map. Once there we will try to figure out how to get across.

Other then spending some time alongside Belkas keeping watch, Zyllith took advantage of their rest to heal up her wounds and prepare for the challenges still before them. As the group began to move forward, Zyllith remained towards the middle of the group, looking around for possible threats as they traveled to the keep.
You don't see anything different than what you saw a few hours ago when you cross through the square and make your way south towards the keep. Overhead, Worm also doesn't see anything that causes alarm.
Passing by the farm on the left where you fought with the goblins earlier in the day, with the windmill to your right, you come to a 70-foot-long, 10-foot-wide sloped bridge that's used to connect the village bailey to the motte (the sloping hill upon which the keep is built.) However, a falling rock appears to haver struck struck the bridge and destroyed a 15-foot-long section of it, cutting off Nandar Keep from the village.
OOC- how far above the water's surface is the broken section? anything Arisa could potentially pull up water for using :Shape water ?
she would like to pull up a cube of water, stretch it into a bridge extension, then freeze it. I know that is a bit of a creative use of the spell, let me know if that is ok. It would take multiple castings. (but still within the limits of no more than 2 non-instant effects at a time, I think)
Arisa says" I have an idea, but not sure it will work. Any other thoughts? We have plenty of rope, but I am not very athletic, I am afraid!"
Belkas pulls out his newly acquired grappling hook, ties it to his rope, and says, "I can see you are planning something Arisa. But if that doesn't work out, if someone is feeling strong they can give a try at throwing this across."
per the spell, "You instantaneously move or otherwise change the flow of the water as you direct, up to 5 feet in any direction" - so move the block up 5 times, to the level of the bridge. (I guess this depends on if you see it as falling down after every time I move it, but also the next bullet point: "You cause the water to form into simple shapes and animate at your direction. This change lasts for 1 hour." so between the 1 hour animate effect and the instant move effect, I was thinking i could move it up to the level of the bridge, then change the shape,+ freeze it. Just a thought :) ropes work too. :)
I think the main limitations are the 5' area, and that you can only manipulate the water in one of the specified ways each time you cast the cantrip. In addition, you can only freeze water, not melt it, and it does not allow you to move ice, only water. However, with reshaping and freezing, the effect last up to one hour. Not saying it's impossible, you just need to problem solve and describe the process for how to make this work. 🙂
😊Arisa is sitting by the bridge looking at the water below. She waves her hands and the surface of the water seems to follow her movements. She says “I’ve never tried anything this complicated before. I will need some time to try my magic”.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Osmord wanders back to the store to see of they stock planks of wood.
"There could be wood there, it is worth a look to see... I will go explore." [Investigation : 20]
Shield at the ready as usual just in case. While he is back at the store he will keep an eye out for any incense they may have stocked there as well as a hip flask. (A large ladder might do the job come to think of it).
Osmord doesn't find any lumber for sale at the trading post. They do have some basic woodworking tools, though. And passing by the farm houses, he notices that the southernmost cottage has been partially destroyed by a giant's boulder. Some of the planks from the house could potentially be salvaged. And yes, there are the windmill blades, and there might even be a ladder inside the windmill.
Also, there are wooden ladders inside the watchtowers. That's how you access the roof.
Vernon stashes the items. He was going to try to do something with the utensils, but fell asleep shortly after removing his armor.
Once he has seen the gap up close, he will start staring at the windmill trying to estimate how much it could help, and how much he just wants to go there anyway.
Belkas sees Vernon looking at the windmill. "I'd be happy to check it out with you. If there is nothing useful there, we can start dismantling the guard towers."
Nightstone’s windmill, which is used for grinding grain that's grown in the village fields, stands atop a 10-foot-high grassy hill. As you approach, you clearly see two sets of goblin tracks in the muddy path that leads up the hill to an open doorway in the northwest side of the windmill.

Osmord yawns and rises.
"Yes friend Arisa, the Keep is most intriguing... we should take a look."
Before they head out, Osmord asks worm to fly ahead and warn them if trouble should approach.

Which route are you taking to get to the keep? The path along the west side of the palisade, or through the square?

I did not see this- Arisa is n favor of going through the square, since we've been over there before. any other ideas?
"'Tis better the devil you know than the devil you don't. The square sounds good to me."

The drop is 20 feet to the water on the lower side, where you are, and 25 feet on the higher side.
I guess the first question is, how would you pull up the 5’ block of frozen water?
OOC- sorry, this is a bit complicated :)
