"No! these are not for sale" Elfa said to the mayor.
Intimidation- 7
Elfa pulled her crossbow out and focussed it on Thunderfist. "I am not angry, but you will stop being mean to people for no reason. Do you understand?.
Elfa seems to be struggling to assert herself (or explain what skill she is rolling dice for), and the mayor's front room is in danger of descending into pandemonium.
"Wait, what? I literally sent you there to get magic items to help us fight the dragon. I mean, that was the...the...the mission! We know the dragon is here because it keeps circling the area, every few days it even seems to scout the village"
Mayor Wester looks completely befuddled, almost more so than scared. He thrusts 50 gold pieces at you and says "Fine, just the Hat of Wizardry then, keep the other items!"
Thunderfist's anger subsided momentarily into confusion as Elfa waved a crossbow in his face.
Thunderfist began to chuckle watching the elf's attempt to threaten him and this calmed him down enough to stop his rampage upon the mayor's house.
He turned to the mayor, grabbed the gold coins from him for the hat and set off down the mayor's garden, giving his rose bush a swift kick for good measure.
Thunderfist made his way into town in search of a blacksmith or arms dealer who could provide him with a better weapon than his current axe.
Mayor Wester scrabbles on the floor to pick up the Hat of Wizardry and calls after you as you leave "Th-thank you! Erm, if you don't mind visiting Adabra Gwynn the midwife tomorrow, she needs to know that she's in danger and should move back to Phandalin. She lives in a mill on Umbrage Hill, just over the way!"
Thunderfist, Elfa and Lei-Tana retire to the Stonehill Inn, where they find Cackie and Diplomat entertaining the locals with what appears to be a game of slaps. Cackie has a fine collection of empty mead jars lined up on the table beside him, while diplomat's fur is a mess of crumbs and honey.
You have a decent meal at the Inn and retire for the night (everyone remove 1gp for food & lodgings).
The next day starts with clear, crisp skies and birds singing - you wonder how it will end.
(Everyone level up to level 3! Let me know if you need a hand with character sheets or have any questions. You have been given your next mission - do you want to head to Umbrage Hill to warn the midwife, or conduct any business in town first?)
Thunderfist felt somewhat calmer following his meal and a good night's rest, although it did occur to him that he should probably improve his ability to kill people quickly, to avoid the raise in blood pressure that resulted from hearing them talk for too long. High blood pressure was a silent killer after all. To do this, a better weapon was in order, so he set off into town to find someone to either improve his current axe, or sell him a better one.
Thunderfist found a blacksmith and immediately saw there was a bigger axe, a greataxe to be exact. His mind raced with excitement about how many gnomes he could slaughter with this and he began to reach for his coins, hands trembling with excitement. But then he stopped and saw the maul... How many times had Thunderfist been in a situation where he needed to bludgeon something, only to be able to slash it? Countless times.
Thunderfist thought he'd treat himself and buy both. He threw the 40 gold at the blacksmith before setting off with a skip in his step, looking for things to bludgeon.
After her long rest, Lei-Tana woke up ready to take on the next mission, she just needed to make a quick stop at Barthens Provisions for a length of rope first...
Barthen smiles warmly as Lei-Tana hands over the gold coin and passes her the rope. "It is good quality my friend, woven right here in Phandalin - it won't let you down".
He then gains an edge of sadness to his smile and says apologetically "I'm sorry to have you charge you, I know that you and your companions are working hard to keep us safe. Be safe on your on your journey to bring back Adabra the midwife; she is uniquely precious to us"
Linene Greywind of the Lionshield Coster (weapon & armour shop) hands over the two massive weapons to Thunderfist with a smile and something else - hunger - in her eyes. "Those are excellent choices" she says gruffly, clearly appreciating a person who buys weapons with the intent to use them "and if they suffer any nicks or dents in battle then bring 'em back here and we'll do a repair for you - Lionshield craftspersonship is guaranteed"
Elfa knew this journey had only just begun! she was excited to see what was to come.
There was a beautiful patch of green grass waiting for Elfa and Diplomat to lie on, Elfa made a daisy crown and popped it on Diplomat's head. "there you go! what a lovely crown Diplomat" Elfa nuzzled into him and lay back on the grass talking about what animals the clouds looked like with her bear and then fell asleep.
As you assemble at the edge of town, your various chores complete, you notice something immediately – Lei-Tana's skin has returned to its normal hue! It seems that the wild magic permeating Gnomengarde only had a temporary effect.
You head over to Umbrage Hill to warn the midwife, Adabra Gwynn, that a dragon has entered the area and she should seek safety back at Phandalin. As soon as you arrive, however, it is apparent that all is not right...
Built on the slope of Umbrage Hill is an old stone windmill surrounded by an iron fence. A large winged monster with a spiky tail is trying to knock down the windmill’s front door. A woman appears in a second-floor window, waves at you, and yells, “A little help?!”
Thunderfist thought he could probably hit the monster with a javelin from here, but better not risk it and get closer before attacking. Elfa looked like she was going to try and make friends with it anyway.
As Elfastrides forward, uttering enchantment incantations, the monster seems oblivious at first. Then the elf shouts her Suggestion to the monster and it stops beating against the door, turning instead to ponder her words. An intelligence shines in its eyes; it obviously speaks and understands Common language.
Monster saving throw: 3
The beast ponders the words for a moment, then growls in a voice so deep and gravelly that it reverberates through your whole body: "Yes, a run would be...healthy"
And with that the beast sprints off into the distance until it is out of sight.
The door of the mill flies open and Adabra Gwynn comes rushing out, eyes wide "Chauntea be praised, you saved me! Come in, come in, I'll put out some cakes"

"Hello, are you ok! are you hurt. We have come to give you a warning" said Elfa.
Elfa scanned around to see if there was anything around which could harm anyone. Elfa was also a being that loved history and knowledge, so wanted to learn more about this windmill. 18 History check.
"oooo i would love a cake please, would you also mind giving my best friend Diplomat some? he is harmless I promise you"

There you are Diplomat! It's a good job you're with Cackie else you would've been in trouble.
You OK Cackie? Haven't missed much apart from Thunderfist kicking off as per

"ahhhhh I feel so rested, and the food was so yummy! thank you so much for letting us stay at the inn again"
"guys, I think we should warn the midwife"

On closer inspection, Lei-Tana locates the price of the hempen rope, and gives 1gp to the shop owner!
She packs the rope, and with her business complete, she heads back to the gang ready to warn the midwife.

She winks, almost predatorially.

Casts Suggestion Spell- Creature needs a DC13 Wisdom Save
Elfa moves 6 spaces forward to get in a better position to cast her spell.
"Wait!! let me work my magic at this creature, he seems aggressive but he may mean well"
"Creature, run into the distance away from here, as far as you can"
