I'm hoping to find five players for Frozen Sick, one of the short starter adventures from the Explorers' Guide to Wildemount. Characters start at 1st level and reach 3rd level as they explore the far north of the continent.
I'm looking for players who are fans of Critical Role and have followed its second season. Please be able to commit to posting twice a day, including weekends, for the next couple of months. New players and more experienced players are all welcome.
If you're interested, please post:
Character Name: Race: Class: Background: Backstory (under 100 words):
(We will work together to make sure your backstory fits the setting, so there may be some adjustments - please post your initial thoughts here.)
And also, please tell me your favourite moment from Critical Role (campaign 1 or 2) and why you like that moment so much. This helps give me an idea of the kind of things you enjoy about D&D.
Players who are respectful, supportive of each others' choices, and helpful and kind to fellow players and the DM are welcome. Hate speech based on race, sexuality, gender identity or anything else is not. Players should be aged 18 or over.
If you prefer to message your character to me directly, that's fine. I'm hoping to take applications today (Wednesday) and tomorrow, contact people on Friday, and begin Saturday/Sunday.
I would be interested in this. A note about me, I have just recently taken up D&D again (been about 8 years). I have not seen Critical Role but would be interested, where could I find it? I can tell you that I enjoy the role play most in PbP adventures.
Here's a character I have created:
Character Name: Fahana Sira Race: Half-Elf Class: Druid Background: Sage - researcher Backstory (under 100 words): still working on this.
Honestly, I've been looking for a Wildemount campaign. I'm excited to see how this turns out! Here's my character up for selection:
Character Name: Sunshine Whisper
Race: Tiefling
Class: Rogue
Background: Pirate
Backstory: All Sun has known is the sea. She grew up in a coastal city and yearned to sail the ocean. She found a ship as soon as she could and set out. She sailed for years before deciding to part ways with her crew and get some more experience under her belt. Now a little older, a little wiser, she’s got her feet on dry land for once, and she’s off to experience as much as she possibly can.
Favorite Moment:
I know it’s a pretty common one, but I love Jester, the hag, and the cupcake. The amount of trickery involved on Jester’s part was mind-blowing. Everything had to fall into place so well, and Laura’s poker face as she played through the situation was incredible.
Another one of my favorite moments is the dinner with Ikithon. The character back-and-forth alone was so fascinating to watch play out. And I don’t know if I’ve ever had to stop and take a moment as much as I did after Caduceus’s final parting words to Ikithon.
All in all, character development and RP is my jam.
Character Name: Rhorog Race: Orc Class: Tempest Cleric Background: Folk Hero Backstory: Rhorog grew up in the town of Boroftkrah. He trained as a leatherworker in the village. Every year during the celebrations of Kord, Rhorog would join in the celebrations. Competitions of strength and might would go on for days during these celebrations. Rhorog never did well but enjoyed these times. However, the curse of Gruumsh ever lay over his town. One competition, a group of orcs who had returned to the old ways of worshiping the betrayer god attempted to disrupt the proceedings and attacked. During the chaos, Rhorog found himself facing the giant bloodthirsty orc that led them. Knowing there was no honor in running, he rushed the orc. As he charged he felt as though his whole body was crackling with power. His first punch let off a loud thunderwave knocking the orc to the ground. His second strike sparked with lightning as he pummeled the orc into the ground. In the back of his mind, Rhorog heard a thunderous voice, "Strength borrowed must be earned! Earn your name!" Having now become a local hero for stopping the Gruumsh followers, Rhorog decided to set off and earn his strength and name.
I've played a few pbp campaigns and am dming 2 at the moment.
Favorite moment in CR.... as a bartender, Sam's recent add where he tried to bartend. Real answer, boulder parchment shears on Vokoto's island. I love CR for the ridiculous moments. In campaigns I enjoy roleplaying, social encounters, and combat, puzzles (especially in pbp) are less interesting to me
Class: Wizard (Plan for School of Divination at 3rd lvl)
Background: Hermit
Backstory (under 100 words): Nalla was born into a tribe of Goliath that lived in the mountains that separate the empire from Xorhas, not fitting in due to being not as physically strong as others of her face. Due to this she was exiled and left to wander on her own until she would die. She was found and taken in by a wizard that decided to keep her around as a servant and taught her the basics of magic so she would be useful. After a while she was given a few things and sent off on her own to study magic by herself.
It is honestly hard to say to be honest but one of them for me is during campaign 1 when they go to the Bay of Gifts and the group have a prank war due to Vax messing with Tarry. The reason I find this so funny is that at the time this was something my group would have done at the time.
Character Name: Mr. Fists Race: Kenku Class: Monk Background: Acolyte Backstory: Mr. Fists was born a kenku who lived on the streets of Port Demali. After losing a fight and being left in an alley, a monk named Mr. Fists found him and nursed the kenku back to health. The kenku was enthralled by Mr. Fists' use of martial arts and trained under the monk, learning about the goddess Raei. The kenku was given the Mr. Fists title - the fifth one to earn that title. Mr. Fists now wanders the streets, helping others with his kindness and his fists.
ddb.ac/characters/48562829/c9fRcv
As far as ideas for backstory, Mr. Fists could have wandered in the area where this adventure takes place. He has a holy symbol of Raei and scripture, but he's not going to throw it in people's faces like Jester. He'd easily step in to help those who need it.
I have two favorite moments from Critical Role and they're both from campaign 1 - nothing against campaign 2. First is the introduction of the Briarwoods. I feel the Briarwood arc helped Critical Role's stand out from other actual play shows happening at that time. It also showed me how a player's backstory could be used in a campaign.
My other moment is Grog killing Kevdak. In-game, it was Grog's big moment. He finally got his victory over Kevdak - it was a great character moment. Out of game, it was one of those moments where it was life or death for Grog and possibly the group. One of my favorite quotes is from Travis where he says the best moments in D&D are when things go wrong.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Character Name: Verdan Schmidt Race: Half-Elf Class: Bard Background: Guild Artisan Backstory: The son of a blacksmith, Verdan never had the same skill as his father. He instead found music in the normal cacophony, and discovered a great interest in the magical weapons of the realm, particularly the vestiges of divergence. He has recently left home with the hopes of composing an epic ballad to tell the stories of the vestiges. He has followed a rumor that there may be information located in the ruins of Aeor, and has travelled to the frozen north with the hope of gathering this knowledge.
Scanlan's counterspell against Vecna. Sam has always been my favorite player in terms of strategy and creativity, and this moment is the perfect encapsulation of the way he thinks.
It's also hard to beat the Jester's cupcake in terms of alignment of a great idea and great rolls to make one of the most epic moments of both campaigns.
Character Name: Telias Udelli Race: High Elf Class: Grave Cleric Background: Sage Backstory: Telias was a brand new Cleric in Molaesmyr when the fall happened. He had been training in the rights of internment. He ran with the others for a while before he felt the call of Corelion and turned around. After spending hundreds of years finding and burying those who had fallen he eventually gave up and has wandered north, in search of meaning.
Favourite moment in CR has to be Jester and the cupcake. The creativity of the moment was astounding.
