Nalla nods as she pulls her hood over her head and covers her face, simply hoping that this will not lead her towards her tribes land. She was exiled and preferred it that way.
Rolling for Portent since I am now a Divination Wizard.
Verdan smiles broadly, "Eiselcross was what drew me this far north in the first place. Good to have a reason to explore the ruins beyond my own curiosity."
Sunshine grumbles and buries her face into her scarf again. As soon as Elro mentioned the merchant and his family were starting to show signs, she knew she was going. And, well, the gold wouldn't be bad, either. But that didn't mean she had to like it. "Fine. To Eiselcross."
Elro thanks you for agreeing to help, and tells you that he needs a day to prepare a boat that can take you to Eiselcross. He suggests that you spend your time in town preparing for whatever you might need. He says he will arrange for you each to receive a set of clothing for cold environments, so you needn't worry about that.
(You can take this time to go shopping if you wish. Palebank Village has general goods stores that will sell you most weapons, armour and items on the 'Adventuring Gear' list of the Player's Hand Book: Equipment - Player's Handbook - Sources - D&D Beyond (dndbeyond.com) )
Let me know what you've purchased, and deduct the money from your character sheet. You won't be able to find any magical items in the village, not even common potions of healing, though you might find some at your destination.
Verdan will purchase a shovel (2gp), a two-person tent (2gp), 2 additional coils of 50ft of rope (1gp each), 20 pitons (50cp each), and a hammer (1gp).
You pass the day in Palebank Village, shopping and idling and preparing for the voyage ahead. Your rooms at the inn are paid by Elro; you hear Irven and his family in their room, but they are under quarantine and not permitted to see visitors.
The following morning, you gather at the village docks beside a sailing ship called the Remorhaz. Elro explains that the ship belongs to the Glassblades, and it will take you to Syrinlya, an Uthodurnian outpost on Foren, Eiselcross’s largest island. Once there, you should talk to a dwarf named Orvo Mustave, who has gone on numerous expeditions into the wilds of Eiselcross with Urgon Wenth.
Once you have found the cure, use whatever you and your 'companions' need, Elro says, eyeing Hulil and her sister Tulgi who are both waiting under guard. Then give the rest to an elf in Syrinlya who goes by the name “the Buyer.” The Buyer can teleport the cure here, for Irven and his family. We need at least four doses, but please send more if you can; I can't say for sure that no-one else has contracted the Frigid Woe, and I'll have no way to contact you after you leave.
And you, he says to the two dwarfs, I wish you success, and if you find the cure, do not ever return here. Am I understood?
The two sisters glare at him, but eventually nod. And with that, five adventurers and their two unhappy dwarf companions board the Remorhaz, and the ship sets sail.
The ship sails on through the cold, and as the days pass you see more and more ice around you. The captain, an Uthodernian dwarf woman named Kattria, seems to be very familiar with these waters and sets courses with confidence. You find you have time to rest and talk with each other through the days, though the crew mostly keeps apart from you.
The first person to read this, give me three d20 encounter rolls for the next three days of your voyage.
On the fifth night since you set out from Palebank Village, you are awakened by the crew shouting alarm. You are all in two small cabins beneath deck, perhaps twenty feet from the steps that climb up. You have no idea what the threat is, only that it was the sound indicating an attack of some kind.
Everyone roll initiative please.
Those of you who typically wear armour would be sleeping in it, as there's no penalty for this. However, if you normally use a shield, you would not sleep with that, and it's a full action to strap it to your arm.
Mr Fists nods. "Find cure. Help."
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.
Nalla nods as she pulls her hood over her head and covers her face, simply hoping that this will not lead her towards her tribes land. She was exiled and preferred it that way.
