Zera says "OK, we will join. But we expect a good return on this investment. We will pay for the guild membership now, and then see how valuable it is to us to continue" (how many silver bars is that?)
(OOC stop me if you disagree!) Zera smiles and says- "Here's silver bars worth at least 300 Gold- 250 for our membership, and 50 for our first 5 10-days of work. We want to be up and running quickly. Any advice or help you can provide is appreciated. Do you have a contract you can provide us as proof of our membership?"
Friar Xavier smiles and nods asking, "... and the guilds, they would provide contacts, training and suggestions on what we need to fix the place up? It would be nice to be able to at least get some patrons in to help fund the further fixes. What is the minimum we need to do to open up to patrons soon?"

"Well, if your just fixing the tavern floor and the plumbing and roofing, l'd say 400gp over about 4 days, then once you make enough money We'll fix the rest up for you?"

"Well do better than give advice we'll fix the place up!"
Friar Xavier, ever mindful of the needs of the body, asks, "And what of provisions, beverages, bedclothes, etc... Do you guilds provide those in the ten-day fee or in the start-up 400gp?"

"There are several guilds that will provide such items"
Putting back some of the unbroken dishes, Friar Xavier, thanks the visitor and excuses himself, "Excellent! By Ilmater's grace we will have this place serving patrons soon. For now, however, I need to see what I can do to help."
He snags a pitcher, goes behind the bar, opens the hatch and descends into the cellar. There he pours some of the spoiled wine ((vinegar?)) into the pitcher.
He then, will perform as a ritual prayer, Purify Food and Drink upon the pitcher of wine. He gives thanks to Ilmater and tastes the wine to see if it is now suitable to drink and serve.

According to the rules of the spell it is safe to drink, but it says nothing of taste and therefore it still tastes like vinegar

Friar Xavier ascends from the cellar with the pitcher in hand. He pours a small glass offers it to the others saying, "Taste this... it is safe to drink... but do you think it is a drinking vinegar or should it be left for cooking or salad dressing?"
He then settles down to hear the recounting of the messages received. He will also interject his own 'message', informing them that, "The Blackstaff wishes to meet with us as soon as possible. I do hope we are not in trouble."
Hearing from Zera and Veil, Friar Xavier says, "So it seems that we have attracted some attention! Strange notes, summons to meetings at the Yawning Portal and with the Blackstaff! My oh my! What shall we do first? Did anyone else receive any other summons?"
You broke even on your expenses for the week with guild members and patrons and the like bustling around the newly opened Tavern however you notice more than a few notice the Ramshackleness and go next door
Friar Xavier has kept busy during the first week. His focus has been on making and keeping the tavern in a welcome and presentable condition. With the kegs refilled, the taps cleaned and additional provisions stored, he has also worked on his cooking, trying to perfect a reduction of "Troll Skull Vinegar" which he drizzles over some of the simpler platters served. He frequently queries the "silent partner" spirit as to his ideas for the tavern menu. Early morning, he ensures the larder is restocked, then he pops off to work at the hospice - tending to those who travelers who cannot afford, or are not welcome at, lodging within the city. These later, tend to be the sick and infirm, which he cares for guided by Ilmater. He keep shis eyes open for opportunities to learn skills which might be helpful to either the tavern or the party.
He returns to the tavern for early noon into the evening, doing what he can, listening to the sorrows of the patrons, praying for Ilmater's mercy or blessing upon those who need it. He tidies up, cleaning the dishes and laundry, then off to sleep. He has dragged a cot into the cellar to sleep in the small alcove just off from the main area, so that he can keep an eye on the stores, which he deems the sustaining wellspring of the tavern.
The party has been so busy with starting the tavern, that they have almost forgotten the summons they each received a week back. Then one night, while the party is around the bar, he asks "So, what shall we do with these summons for our assistance? Requests to meet at the Yawning Portal and the Opera, as well as a summons by the Blackstaff?"
Zera says "OK, we will join. But we expect a good return on this investment. We will pay for the guild membership now, and then see how valuable it is to us to continue" (how many silver bars is that?)

Veil nods her head in agreement, glad that they seem to have the funds to get this all rolling.

Zera pays the guild representative the agreed price in silver. She then tells the others of the strange note she got.
"I recieved a strange visitor as well." Veil says with a frown. "I have a meeting to attend, at the Yawning Portal it seems."

“I was invited to the opera” says Zera. (Hope everyone is ok after those storms in the USA)
At this point, it's pretty much an open world with joining Factions and fixing up the Tavern
