Behind the statue KD sees a track on the floor and a recess in the wall that looks exactly like the hands holding the gem would fit together. Like a puzzle piece or a key. Though, the trap definitely still existed. She’d notice there was a weighted pressure plate in the palms of the statue. She felt confident that if one were to push the arms to turn the statue, as if denying it, it could follow along the path and into the wall. It could reveal something. The statue must have something beneath it right? As long as the gem remained undisturbed in the process, there could be a more promising outcome than if you just tried swapping out the gem.

Once the options were lied out, Lilly's eyes flashed with excitement."I can do it from here! Watch." She concentrated, and in the air in front of her appeared a transparent but very much visible ghostly hand. Lilly moved her fingers and the hand repeated the gesture. "See? No need to come close. I can try to grab that gem!"
Lilly was pretty excited but cautious of the last minutes and warnings to (and from) her did their trick. "Or I can try to turn it... Not sure if the hand is strong enough, though. Usually, it's pretty weak. Still handy!"
She ushered everyone not involved into moving/grabbing out of the room to free the arena of the future battle, so to speak."Let's first try to turn it!"
Not really expecting much result (10 pounds is not that much after all) she floated the hand close to the statue and tried to turn it. Dex check: 16

KD nods at Lilly. "Yes let's not take the gem from the temple of greed just right now. Here, try to push it from this direction, but not too hard...."she says, trying to help her move the statue just right to reverse it. If it's not strong enough to move it, KD will try to do it herself, trusting in her knowledge of the trap. She leaves the gem be.
Lilly’s mage hand floats up to the statue, and without much waiting for KD to get into position yet, begins to try to push the statue. It held firm at first, giving the impression that it wasn't actually going to move, but when the artificer would step forward to help, it'd start to move. The sound of stone turning against stone would fill the room as she pushes the arms counter clockwise until it came to an abrupt stop causing the gem to rock from it's resting place, teetering on the brink of falling. It was then Lilly’s spectral hand would give it a nudge back into place. All stood still for that moment.
The statue would jerk backwards (it's forward now) and begin it's path down the track. The familiar grinding of stone on stone could be heard as it went until finally the gem was inserted into the recess in the wall. Click. Then with a gentle pouf of dust, the base where the greedy statue once stood would free itself and pull away, revealing a hidden compartment. Without even having to take a closer look you knew you've discovered treasure. The light glinted off of the shiny and reflective hoard within causing a prism of colours to dance around the room.
Rasmus would pace faster, fluttering with excitement on Demetrios’ shoulder as he’d repeat himself. “Ou! Piece of candy! Ou! Piece of candy!”

"Wow! There was a treasure. So many things!" Lilly was not greedy, the gold rush of treasure hunting did not root itself yet in her heart, but the glint of all the coins and gems was just pretty. Though... They were here to help dwarves? "Looks like we found what you were looking for, Dazzlyn and Norbus." And the group fulfilled their part of the contract in full.
Onu smiles broadly as the hoard of treasure is unveiled and takes a half-step forward, until Lily speaks up, reminding him of the dwarves they were here to help.
Grifting was getting hard with this crew - they were so earnest! But the rewards so far had been better than what he and KD had managed to eek out on their own. Maybe making a go of it as an adventurer was a better path than the hussle they had been running.
Looking to his comrade, colleague and co-conspirator, the monk called out 'Well, done! Well done indeed my dear KD.' turning his nod into a full sweeping bow he turned to encompass the halfling in his praise as well 'and you, your cleverness and ingenuity knows no bounds my dear Lily. Well done to you both!'
Finally turning to the dwarves, the sponsors of this adventure as it were, the monk continues in his most charming tone 'And you good sirs, it appears we have indeed found that which you sought - at no small cost to our own persons and at tremendous risk even - those jellies' a dramatic, full-body shudder 'well, they were almost more than we could handle. But here we are at last, the ruins explored, the treasure uncovered and our job complete.'
As his little speech wraps up, the dapper half-elf moves and positions himself between the dwarves and the treasure hoard, indicating the pile with the tip of his walking stick with a dramatic flourish.
Norbus' eyes were widened in wonder and disbelief. "This be 'ere the whole time!" The warrior tries his tiptoes, leaning this way and that, trying to get a view of the treasure from around the monk.
Dazzlyn too was wide eyed with wonder, but he was completely absorbed in updating his research. "This is fantastic!" He'd say with much enthusiasm. "All my suspicions were correct. Yes! We have found what I was looking for." The dwarf would finally look up, presenting his wide smile. His eyes would bounce from his comrade to each one of you before side stepping and taking a quick glance at the treasure. "Well," First he'd nod. Then, he'd make a hand gesture to indicate his lack of full interest in the treasure. "I say yous could have it."
Norbus would grunt, spinning around so fast he was about to stomp on the other dwarf's toe when Dazzlyn would speak once more. "Okay, how about 10gp and... say... that tankard." He'd point to an item. "For my good partner." He'd side glance Norbus, who'd grumble and cross his arms. "And the rest can be yours for all your trouble." Dazzlyn would return the monk's charm with a smile of his own. "What say you?"
Lilly did not even understand for a few moments but then her eyes widened "Really?" She could not help but glance at the pink stone with the white star in it. She could not decide on the treasure sharing - sure, they fought, almost died (a few times) but the dwarves almost died too. Yet again, she had to spend a potion on one, but it's not like they bought the potion... It was too complicated.
"Of course! The tankard even looks dwarvish,"(a bit evil too, to her taste, but that she did not mention). Lilly bravely picked up the tankard and the small pouch with 70gp in it and gave them to archeologists only then looking at others. Yeah... She probably had to ask first. "Um... Nice robe, right? A bit patchy but it gives it character." With a bit of exaggerated enthusiasm she picked up the robe and showed to everyone as if completely lost in admiration.
"Fits you, I'd say," Demetrios comments in response to Lilly, a light grin tagging at the corner of his lip. The paladin wasn't one for treasure, at least, that's what he tells himself. You never know what you could stumble across! One part of his mind tells him. But you would look too greedy if you took something for yourself! The other cries. He tries to ignore both voices, though... He would glance in the direction of the impeccably clean armor a few times... Then get closer to it to inspect it further. "You look rather dashing in the reflection of this armor, huh, Rasmus?"

"Nice work Lilly! You've got a light touch. No one blew up or fell down a pit or summoned more jellies. And yes, thank you for the offer, we'll happily take you up on that."KD's eyes widen at the treasure, and takes Onu's reminder to try to ascertain what if any enchantments might be on any of these items. She does her best. She leaves the organizing of the rest of the "candy" to the others, though she will happily offer to check the count.
She will try to identify any of the items she is given, and she asks her still-unnamed mechanical monkey to help look things over, its tiny metal hands looking over items in a grooming fashion.
"Pretty bird." Rasmus would chime to Lilly as she'd hold the robe to herself.
Though, when the paladin would pull the incredibly shiny armour near, Rasmus would start puffing his feathers and checking himself out. "Pretty bird!"
Taking time to pour over the treasure, KD would eventually be able to identify the items. The garment Lilly showed interest in was a Robe of Useful Items. The artificer figured the armour would suit Demetrios as it was Plate Armor of Gleaming. As for the gems, they presented a bit of a challenge. She'd be able to estimate they're valued at approximately 50g each, but as for what type of gems they are, that's something that just slips her mind.
As KD checks over the items, Onu checks the party's backtrail, making sure nothing is coming up from behind them. A deep breath and he turns back to the party to find the paladin admiring the shiny armor and KD looking at the patched cloak. Smiling, he takes a moment to appreciate that they are all safe, alive and presumably done with their immediate challenges.
Diligently checking behind them, Onu indeed could appreciate the moment of safety within these walls as they review their discovery. Though, a gentle reminder hung at the back of his mind to make sure to keep his guard up when they decide to take their exit of these ruins. Inside were these disgusting boogers, but outside, there were bodies of orcs.
Norbus was grumbly as ever, huffing and puffing as he watches the group collect the cache. Meanwhile, Dazzlyn was grinning ear to ear. He happily accepted the 10g and the tankard. "Quit your fussing you fearful fanny." The archaeologist approaches his dramatic dwarf companion. "We more than made out with our fair share with the half of the other groups treasure." He'd assure as he handed all he collected to Norbus.
"They dun need teh know dat!" He'd protest as he snatches up the mug and the gold.
"We were able to complete our job successfully and then some." Dazzlyn would remind. "This means future work security." Then, taking a moment to himself, he'd look to his pendent that lost it's light. "She'd be proud of the work accomplished despite the challenges..." Clearing his throat and blinking away emotion, the dwarf would put his happy face back on. "Now!" Dazzlyn would perk, putting away the pendant. "What will you adventurer's be up too next?" He grins.
(70gp! :) Or at least this is how much Lilly gave to dwarves. Would be an easier count for us and some extra cash for the grumpy dwarf!)
"We need to return to the town. Are you coming with us or need to do something else here before?" Lilly forced herself to stop musing over the treasure - Rasmus was not the only one checking himself out in the shiny armour, and now tried to remember if the group is truly done or they missed something. "I think now we are done with all three tasks, right? And can return?"
Demetrios really tried to ignore the allure of the armor. He really did. But the armor won once KD explained that it was enchanted and never got dirty. "Just, ah, give me a second then..." He murmurs, finding a private corner to change in. After slipping into the new suit, he looks himself over then asks to the others, "How does it look?"
When asked what they planned to do next, and Lilly asks for a confirmation, the paladin nods. "We're done with all the tasks so we can return back to Phandalin and speak with the Townmaster."
