Pressing his attacks, Onu was focused and precise. His blade cuts through the carrion crawler's throat. The monk then finishes the beast off by literally smacking it's head the rest of the way off. It ricochets off the wall and comes to roll down the hall, eventually stopping at Hamish's feet. The body twitches then falls limp at Onu's feet.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Onu shakes the viscera off his blade, watching with barely concealed joy as the magically enhanced metal seems to clean itself. He wipes it down carefully with a cloth anyway, catching any traces of moisture before sliding the slender blade home into the wooden haft of the walking stick. Shooting his cuffs and straightening the lapels of his jacket he smiles broadly at KD and Hamish - 'Right as rain my friend - in no small part thanks to you and your wonderful inventions!' Looking about he continues, 'Wonder if that fell thing has anything tucked away back here... Hal, would you help me sniff about?'
Searching through the tunnel as a pair, it appears the only thing the carrion crawler ‘collected’, were bones. Remains of the bodies it feasted from. At the end of the tunnel is an opening to the outside. It’s the same ledge Hal tried to climb up, which over looks the graveyard you had paused at before entering the mine.
"So, that's it? Did we get them all?" Hamish will cast [Tooltip Not Found] to make sure there is nothing else around. Assuming he doesn't "see" anything, "Let's get back to the others. I haven't got much time, I fear."
KD nods and falls in next to Hamish. She assures him that they will be able to find a cure, that there are solutions to everything if you just work hard enough at it. She begins trying to think up options, after they give the rest of the mine a final checkout to clear it.
As KD leads the group through the tunnels for a final check, you aren’t met with anything hostile or suspicious. Going through each area methodically one by one, you come up on a storeroom with a dozen crates of dry foodstuffs and nine casks of drinking water stacked in the middle; a designated sleeping quarters in the cave which contains a dozen wooden cots; another storage area containing two wheelbarrows and an empty bin; and finally a ransacked office, whose furnishings include a desk, a chair, an empty wooden chest, and a cot. Working back to the main quarters where most of the dwarves were still gathered, you’d find Nova still fast asleep on the floor.
KD gives one extra glance at the office to see if the wererats happened to have left anything of note. Otherwise she is happy to leave it to the miners. She returns to Nova, and asks Fae if she can help do anything to cure Hamish. She's happy to rest here, or head back to town, unless someone else has something else they want to do?
(I'm trying to OOC remember what else we had on our to do list!)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Returning to Nova, KD wouldn't be able to locate Fae within the premises. All the dwarfs, including the lead miner, and Don-Jon were accounted for within the cave. She'd then be reminded that the wizard had stepped out to oversee the burning of the wererat bodies.
Stepping outside the mine into the night, you'd be met with the pungent scent of burning hair and flesh. As your eyes adjust, you're greeted by a large roaring bon fire which burns bright amongst the dark sky. Sparks crackle and starlight twinkles. A single hooded silhouette stands statuesque in front of the pyres, arms folded with their hands tucked within their robes. It was Fae.
"I see two options." Without looking away from the flames, Fae broke her silence to respond to KD's ask. "You return to town, spend a significant amount of time tracking down a specific scroll and hope one may be able to successfully cast it," She pauses briefly, "Or continue to challenge oneself through perilous journey, and through experience, growth and study, the knowledge to remove the curse will be learned."
'Well, that seems an easy choice then.' Onu claps Hamish on the shoulder 'Looks like you're stuck with us until we can find a way to remove this curse my friend.'
"OK." Hamish's shoulders slump a bit with the realization that there is not a quick cure. "So... where do you suggest our perilous journey take us next? Have you all figured out if this was the source of the Wererats or should we see if we can find more of them?" Hamish absentmindedly scratches behind his ear.
Still not taking her eyes off the roaring flames, Fae speaks a matter of factly. “Five miles south of Conyberry is a shrine dedicated to Savras, god of divination and fate. Many years ago, the shrine’s priest-seers foresaw a barbarian attack on Conyberry, giving the townsfolk time to escape. Not all the townsfolk chose to flee, but those who did went to the shrine and brought much of the town’s gold with them.
The barbarians eventually tracked the townsfolk to the shrine, besieged it, and slaughtered everyone inside. In the days leading up to this final battle, the priest-seers helped the townsfolk hide their gold.
Over the years, many other creatures have occupied the shrine. Most recently, the gang of wererats laired here until they were driven out by orcs displaced by the white dragon. Recently, ogres wandered by the shrine, saw the orcs, and decided to join them…” The wizard trails off. She rhymed off those details as if they were memorized, engrained from hours of personal and thorough study. This information, paired with the blank card that was received by Lilly back when the group first connected, can lead one to believe with certainty that Fae had been watching the developments of this shrine very closely. As if she were personally invested. Yet, her interest didn’t appear to be about the gold that lay hidden there (that was to entice adventurers to seek out). Fae sought something else.

Investigation 5
Hal eagerly helps look around, in fact climbing up into the nook to see if there's anything interesting hidden in its hiding place. (Help action?)

Hamish’s senses scan the area thoroughly. He’d confidently be able to confirm that there was nothing else around.
