Sylyra thinks for a moment, then asks, "Did the other patron happen to say where they are staying in Phlan? Do you know anything else about this caravan? It might be helpful if I could speak with some of those who traveled here with the two in question."
Hex shrugged at Ola with a sheepish grin. "Whoops. Forgot to do that." She turns to the shopkeep and nods, her body language much more relaxed than Ola's. "Yeah, basically what she said."
OOC: Sorry again for the delay in posting. My weekend schedules haven't been friendly. Everyone is doing a great job of posting quickly, and I appreciate it.
HEX & OLA:
The shopkeeper chews his tack loudly as he ponders. "That would be the Black Fist," he corrects. "You'll have to forgive me if I don't completely trust your word that you have that authority. You don't wear the uniform, so unless you have something that says you're tellin' the truth...I tell you what, if you bring one o' the Black Fist in here to back that up, I'll gladly part with the book. But for all I know you could be grifters tryin' to rob one of my repeat customers of something he left here on accident."

SYLYRA:
"No, sorry," Fat Mar says after mulling over your questions for a while. "I don't think that patron had a room here, and caravans aren't exactly rare. With how dangerous the Iron Route is, nobody wants to travel by themselves anymore."
He suddenly bolts upright as a thought seems to strike him. "Oh! There was a third person that was here sometimes with them, now that I think about it. Haven't seen that fellow in a couple of weeks, but he was human...had the look of a scribe about him. I never got his name."

URAGUM:
The desk is largely empty, but contains what appears to be a list of things to be purchased from some of the stores in Phlan; similar to but not an exact match of the list that the Black Fist discovered on Tibeem's body. Your hunch about the dresser proves apt, as you find a false panel within one of them. Inside, there are two sets of black and purple clothing. Each set is emblazoned with draconic livery.
"As you wish, I'll report Balck Fist about your cooperation." As declared, Ola draw/memorized the map and returned with Hex to the Laughting Goblin (or alone if Hex has things to do).
"A scribe?" Sylyra repeats, half dubious and half hopeful. "Can you describe this human 'scribe'? The two thieves ended up working at the library as scribes, so it's possible the third scribe either got them the job or at least worked with them. It's possible they are in on the thievery. If you can help me identify them, it would be very helpful."
Hex nods at the shopkeep. "That's reasonable. It's late so we'll be back tomorrow morning. Thank you for your help."
Once the two have left the store, Hex will stop Ola. "I'm actually gonna go talk to a friend of mine. Your suggestion of talking to that girl before gave me an idea. Go on without me. I'll be back soon."
She bids the paladin farewell before going off to look for Chaab. If she manages to find him, she'll report on what's happened so far and ask if he knows anything about the two theives.
You are unable to track down Chaab quickly, which doesn't seem too unusual in the wee hours of the morning. You do know reliable methods of leaving messages for him, however, to request any information that he has on the thieves.

The map is crude, but detailed enough that you can easily discern that it leads to a location in the foothills of the Dragonspine Mountains. You can also approximate that this location is around two days' travel from Phlan.
Departing Cockburn's, the fatigue of the late hour begins to set in as you take to the familiar streets that lead you back toward The Laughing Goblin.

Fat Mar shrugs, "Sorry, I only saw 'em the one time. That's the best I can describe him, he looked...scribey. He was quiet, bookish, that type of fellow. I wish I could help you identify him more, but that's as specific as my noggin can get with this one."

OOC: It seems like we're very close to having everybody back together, depending on whether Hex and Uragum have anything else in mind before returning to The Laughing Goblin.
Uragum smiles, the search was fruitful but the smile turns to a frown as he looks as the draconic livery. More dragons... seems everything connects to dragons. All they seemed to have done, seems to revert back to dragons...
Shaking his head to clear his thoughts he gathers ups, the outfits and takes it back to their inn to wait for the others to show his clue.
---
Can he make a check to see if he can determine what these outfits might be related too?
Ola entered the inn, caught Sylyra's eyes nodding slightly "there is something" and moved to the empty table. A light supper was something needed (and well deserved). Should Sylyra join at the end of his conversation, Ola would show him the map. "If we are lucky, we might find our thief there. And the stolen books too".
(Of course, should Uragum be there already she would join him. The hour is late enough for Sylyra's reputation to be safe if he joins the company as well.)
Unable to find Chaab, she leaves him a message instead and goes back to the Laughing Goblin. She lingers around in the tavern for a bit, joining Ola at her table, in case any of the party has any information they want to share.
Hex, Ola, and Uragum each return to The Laughing Goblin within the same half hour. Imizael closes down the bar while Fat Mar closes out his conversation with Sylyra. When asked about Olisara, she pauses to think before responding, "It's been a few days since she's been in, five or six I would say."
Fatigue growing in your minds and bodies, you have regrouped after a long evening of investigation.
OOC: I want to make sure everyone has a chance to share their information, but if the party is ready for a long rest (or something else if you want to push through the night) I am ready to advance.
As they are the only patrons left in the room, Sylyra appears to have no qualms about joining the other three at a table. He explains that he deduced (without explaining how) the paper was from The Laughing Goblin, so he returned to find out what he could. After speaking with Imizael and Fat Mar, he learned that two travelers who fit the descriptions of the scribes had come to town in a caravan about four months ago and had eaten at The Laughing Goblin often. He mentions there was a third scribe as well — a human who sometimes ate with them.
"The third scribe may still work at the library," Sylyra offers.
"So, are we going to identify that thieves' friend or to check the location on the map?" Ola was not that lucky in the ongoing investigation and had no ideas about the proceedings.
"Well, there is a chance they are at the location on the map. Even if they aren't, if the scribe is anything like the dead one, it's not likely we're going to get any info out of them. I vote we go to the location."
Not having anymore to go on than that they are a human, Sylyra was not looking forward to trying to flush out the third scribe. He nods in consent to Hex's suggestion.
"Then let's get some rest, pack up first thing in the morning, and go." Ola did not have anything specific to prepare but sorely needed a few hours of sleep. She was ready to go at dawn (after breakfast, of course).
After a good night's rest, and not wanting to have the others wait for her, Hex would wake up a little earlier than usual to go speak with Chaab. She'll grab a quick breakfast and leave a note for the party, telling them to meet her at the entrance of the town.

Hex let's Uragum know what she and Ola had discovered and asks if he managed to get any information himself.
