Hex stands up and shows the rest of the group what she has found, handing all the items to the others except for the small journal, which she opens up to quickly read. "This is definitely the one we were looking for. I'd hazard a guess that those tomes are the ones the thieves stole from the library too."
"Good. Then we are done here. Which does not mean, of course, we can not look around." As much as Ola was tired of this dungeon, the mosaics were too beautiful. She had not seen anything of this level of artistry since she left home. "Am I right and the stone in his pocket would fit the dragon's amulet on the wall? Not sure I want to test this idea, though. Shall we check the doors?" She walked up the stairs of the closest open exit.
Sylyra lets his staff fall to his side as the final creature succumbs, yet the elf doesn't release the magic coursing through his weapon until Ola rests her hand on his arm. He turns to almost glare at her, but as she pumps life into him, his breathing finally begins to slow, and the flames fade from his staff. He gives a silent nod to the blue elf, still too pumped up to make a joke or even a snide comment. He closes his eyes and stretches his neck and shoulders by leaning his head to one side and then the other.
When the others begin discussing the identify of the man and the books, Sylyra walks over to look down upon the human. When Ola mentions checking the doors, Sylyra looks up. "Beware," he says. "Don't touch anything." He does not make any move to follow her.
The journal details Spernik's mission on behalf of the Cult of the Dragon. Seemingly, the young man was to uncover a relic from The Temple of the Scale and deliver it to a red dragon named Scorlworyx, who lives in the Dragonspine Mountains. Spernik believed the task to be of utmost importance to the Cult, and that this gift would entice Scorlworyx to enter into the Cult's service.
Ten minutes pass quietly as Hex peruses the journal and Uragum focuses his identification ritual. In the meantime, Ola peers into the room beyond the first staircase on the left.
A bone-chilling, knee-deep white mist clings to every nook of the 20-by-20-foot chamber past the staircase. The walls are of the same grey stone as the rest of the complex, but decorated with a pattern of glossy white and blue tiles perhaps a hand's width across. A short set of stairs leads to a raised dais, upon which a rectangular altar sits carved from a single piece of white stone, veined with grey. The mist that fills the room seems to be flowing from something resting on top of the altar.
"This ring... it offers protection against flame. Maybe not useful for him but maybe for us? Does anyone want to wear it for now?" He asks. If no one else claims it then it he will slip it onto his finger.
In response to the area with mist and white/blue tile. "I feel this might be focused on white dragons. The blue and white might be representing coldness."
"According to this book, this place is called the Temple of Scale and Spernik was a part of the Cult of Dragons. He came here trying to uncover a relic to gift to a red dragon named Scorlworyx. Thought it might convince it to join the Cult." Hex put the book away and picked up the silvered scimitar. "You can keep the ring, I like this scimitar better... unless someone else wants it? I'm not a front liner so it probably won't get much use out of me. Still, it'd be nice to have a silvered weapon on hand."
If no one wanted the scimitar, Hex would take it for herself before looking around the room again. She counted the different exits before fishing out the two coloured metal pieces from her pocket. "Huh. I think Uragum's theory might be more than a theory. White is for cold, blue for lightning." She held the two metal pieces up for the group to see. "Green for poison, black for acid." She then nodded towards the red metal door. "Last but not least, red for fire. One exit for each element."
OOC: Added the ring of fire protection to Uragum's inventory and the silvered scimitar to Hex's inventory. Note that the ring requires attunement in order to have any effect.
Moving to the second room on the left, Ola sees a set of black stairs descending into another 20-by-20-foot room. The room is hewn from the same stone as the chamber outside, but with walls that are decorated in glossy, black and bone-white tiles. A short, triangular altar of black stone rests atop a low triangular platform at the opposite end of the chamber. A kobold lays at the foot of the altar, its features melted beyond further recognition.
"So we got black metal and green... I think that means we either need to go to the black or green rooms to do something with the metal pieces or the already got those two from the room and we need the others now. Maybe the later if there is a dead kobold there."
"Like put those pieces on the altars? Seemed like a dangerous job. That kobold over there looks like it was melted with acid. But assuming we can do it, do you think the door will open? Probably not if the central piece in there is still missing. And maybe for the best too. I am beginning to believe if we finished the ritual correctly we might summon a red dragon."
"Hmm, I don't think we'll summon a dragon. The journal says Spernik was here to get a relic to gift to a dragon after all. But I think Uragum might be right. Spernik most likely got these pieces from the rooms. Kobolds triggered the traps for him to get by unharmed most likely. Maybe if we find the green room, it'll confirm his theory."
Hex goes to one of the two remaining rooms and peeks inside. "Whatever relic is here, we should find it and take it back to town to put it in safe hands. Or, at least, sell it off if it isn't particularly dangerous."
Hex moves to the first opening on the right side of the chamber. The 20-by-20-foot room within has a floor made from a single piece of beaten copper. Shiny blue and yellow tiles line the walls and a diamond-shaped altar of polished blue stone rests atop a dais. Small bolts of electricity arc between something resting atop the altar and a number of copper studs in the wall.
Sylyra examines the remaining opening on the right side, nearest the entrance. The air in this 20-by-20-foot room is acrid and sour-smelling. A set of stairs descends past walls of shiny green tiles 8 feet to the sunken floor below. A dozen or so kobolds lay strewn about, their bodies strangely contorted as if they died in abject agony. A round altar of green stone lays against the far wall.
Central Area Description:
The walls of this 40-foot-round room are beautifully decorated in stunning, colorful mosaics depicting stylized dragons in a number of different activities. A large door of hammered red metal rests in the far facing wall. Four other open exits with stairs are spaced evenly around the room. The room is littered with bones.
The door on the far side of the room is embossed with the image of a rearing red dragon. The dragon wears an amulet with its central piece missing.
"I wonder... Maybe those pieces of metal we found were from the altars? And kobolds were getting them to place into the amulet on the door? Would those two pieces and the gem fit?" Ola came to the red door to check (and to try and open it without restoring the amulet first).
"Two?" Sylyra asks, almost sneering. "There are four alters. Two have been spoiled by now-dead kobolds. Two still hold pieces of power." He looks at Hex with a baleful eye. "We're going to need ourselves some kobolds if we want that door opened."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Uragum sighs. "Let me take the cold room. Us Goliaths run hot. Both tempt and with our blood. We don't feel the cold as much as some others. But maybe, it wouldn't be a bad idea to tie a rope around me to pull out worse case scenario..."
Should the others be okay with that, he will make his way towards the room after putting the rope around his waist. Then take a moment to observe the room for any glyphs or traps or pressure plates or even any writing that could be seen.
Hex pats Uragum on the back. "Thank you for volunteering before I did. You should be fine. All three of us have some sort of healing capabilities. Just try not to instantly die."
Once everyone is ready, she holds onto the end of the rope outside the room. In the case Uragum misses something whilst in the room, Hex looks for traps from her vantage point to aid him. (Help action if possible? If not, just her own roll.)

"Not yet..." Uragum says. "If any of those items carry magic, let me figure out what it's purpose is as it may benefit us."
If agrees to, he will take the time to cast identify as a ritual to determine its properties.

Hex nods at Uragumxs suggestion to Identify. "Yes, I'm not the best at magic but even I can tell that garnet ring has some power to it."
For Hex:
The journal details Spernik's mission on behalf of the Cult of the Dragon. For Uragum:
The garnet ring is a ring of fire resistance.

"Interesting theory." To check it out Ola went to the next room - again, not entering, just looking.
