Ressys launches himself forward and as he does so his body changes, quickly morphing into the body of a large Dire Wolf (BA combat wildshape). He attacks Feral Sol trying to bite him.
Attack: 18 Damage: 13 piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.
Durnham watches as Ressys attacks Ferol Sol and backs away. His wand is ready but he hesitates, his hand shakes with nervousness, fear, and something else… “Stop this! Ferol Sol come to your senses, work with us, Aeor may be gone but with your knowledge we can create a new era of prosperity for all people. Please! What you know could save and better the world!”
Seeing Ressys transform into a Dire Wolf, Brandon ignores Durnham’s plea towards the creature and moves forward with his shield raised. He mutters a quiet curse at Feral Sol and attacks with his longsword in a wide, sweeping arc.
Durnham'spassionate plea falls on deaf ears; Ferol Sal screams back "Your friends clearly have no interest in making a deal! I'll use your corpses to experiment on my latest reanimation methods!"
Brandon'swarlock curse lands on the undead scientist, tendril's of dark energy weaving around him. At one point a dark feather seems to drop from his shoulder. Unfortunately, the soldier's follow-up attack swings wide of the target.
Qidira'sdaggers arc across the room, skillfully avoiding her companions. The fine Aeorian blade slices through robes and arm, but the mundane dagger flies just wide. The aeorian winces and shouts out "That will not help your pleas for mercy!"
Deciding that the wolf trying to topple him is the greater threat, Ferol Sal lashes out with his blade and a shadow-wreathed claw at Ressys:
Longsword Attack: 8 Damage: 7 slashing
Claw Attack: 24 Damage: 5 necrotic
If the claw hits, Ressys must make a CON save (DC14) or lose the same amount from his max HP
Durnham, finally beginning to shake the lure of Ferol Sol’s offer, looks closely at the creature, trying to remember if he has read about a creature such as this, what sort of undead was it? Did it possess weaknesses?
Ferol Sal's claw tears deep chunks from Ressys' wolf-form, drawing his very essence away (the claw attack has reduced max HP by 5, but only in the current wolf form)
Durnhamthinks hard about what he has seen and heard so far, but cannot place the creature's type or physiology. Frustratingly, he remembers seeing a book on the library shelf at the Vellum Steeple that would have helped in this situation. If only he had picked it up and not been distracted.
He watched in silence as the conversation slowly devolved into the start of a battle. The man, if one could still call this undead so, had no concern about the innocent victims of his plague. Worse yet, he or, should one say, it had every intent to strengthen the plague. To multiply and deploy it, innocents be damned. That was enough to make Kotar agree with Brandon, Ferol Sal needed to be destroyed. At the very least it didn’t seem there was another way to stop the Aeorian.
Watching how skillfull its attacks where, the goliath decided that focusing on defense would be of little help. So he put his shield away and grabbed the silvered maul, the advanced towards the exanimate. Tempted for a moment to push his body beyond its normal limits, to attack then and there. But in the end, he decided to just stay close. With luck this would attract the thing’s strikes, pull it away from the others. If the living corpse tried to move he would be able to retaliate and soon enough the fighter would be able to strike. Worst case scenario he should be able to at least give his friends time to run. Someone would leave carrying the cure, no matter what.
Notes: Kotar uses his action to doff his shield then get the silvered maul in hands. He uses as much of his movement as necessary to get besides the undead.
Kotarunslings his shield and fixes it in place, preparing his huge silvered maul alongside it. He advances around the edge of the room, frustrated by the numerous benches but ready to flank Ferol Sal in a few seconds' time (let me know if you want o adjust position on the map)

Ressys felt the life drain from him, but he also knew that it was just the life of the change, not his own true life essence, and so did not fear the blade of the undead creature. He again snapped and bit at Ferol.
Attack: 23 Damage: 7 piercing damage. If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.

Durnham is distraught and unsure on what to do next. This creature was clearly evil and driven by an ancient rage and hatred. It’s plan was insanity, to make the disease even more deadly? It would kill everyone. But it was also a living being of Aeor… it possessed knowledge, skills, and power lost to the modern day.
He had tried persuading it… had tried pleading with it… but it was attacking his friends… and they seemed bent on destroying it.
He stood for a moment poised for action but debating internally. What finally tipped the scales in his mind… was the memory of his parents… that they may still be alive and in need of his help. This creature… wished to wipe out everyone with his disease… his friends and parents included… it had to be stopped, or at least captured.
With a heavy heart he slowly lifts the wand and activates the wand sending the magic missile spell at it… using 3 charges at once casting it at level 3.
The glowing red arrows fly straight at Ferol Sol and strike for 17 force damage.
As the arrows strike Ferol Sol, Durnham winces uncomfortably. He knows it’s necessary but doesn’t want to lose the knowledge the creature possesses. “Everyone! Can we stop fighting and find a way to allow him to live? The things he knows… could save the lives of countless people. He must know cures and magic, power and science of things we can’t even understand…. We can’t let that knowledge be lost!”
“Live? He has not lived for ages! He has cheated death through foul and evil magics. He must be destroyed!”Brandon’s eyes flash with anger as he follows up Ressys’ attack and brings his sword down on the now fallen creature.

Qidira hesitates then says what she believes will convince Durnham. "He is the reason for the funeral I attended when we first met. The reason those children suffer and will be the cause of more if we let him continue his work. His mind is lost in an obsession to kill gods with no thought to the cost to those around him. He must be put to rest. I crave the knowledge if holds too, but not at the potential cost."
She rushes forward to aid the others in the defeat of the creature. Unsure that her weapons are doing damage but persistence may without.
