"The Red Wizards of Thay are an evil-aligned organization of wizards led by the lich Szass Tam. They are bent on finding and collecting great sources of power. They are also slavers, tourturers, and demonologists."
“Right, so some lich fanboys are snooping around in a city that was destroyed by a lich, that ain’t a coincidence. Seems these snakefolk ain’t too fond of them either. Seems that there’s more to this than we thought...”
Clayton will examine the glaive. Some nun somewhere is miffed.
For a moment, just a moment, you are overcome with a feeling of deja vu. You shake it off. It was probably nothing. The glaive looks tribal in nature, but nothing special otherwise. At least, not to you.

Besides the mutilated bodies of the Red Wizards of Thay and the yuan-ti, everyone's pockets are picked clean. You can even still smell the smoke from the fireballs. There is blood smeared on the walls that say:
(I posted the Shrine pictures in the DM Notes. This is the top left shrine, #3 - KUBAZAN)
A rectangular pool of murky water stretches before this vine-draped shrine. Rope bridges that once spanned the water float on the surface, tangled with other debris. The shards of a toppled monolith form stepping stones to the middle of the pool, where a statue of a stone frog rises above the water.
It is very quiet and calm in this area. Shariel's snake is churning in her stomach. Yasei, you are detecting a MASSIVE creature in the pond. Your snake is writhing madly you feel sick.
- There is a pool and the actual shrine in this area. The pool is murky and clouded with mud and algae.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Maldrek is going to attempt stealth and walk around the edges of this place, as far from the pool as he can be, and look around the place for anything strange.
Yasei to the pond: “I see you in there, my child. I am Kubazan, as I’m sure you’re aware. I am here to inspect my shrine. Please show yourself...do not be afraid.”
"Whatever the hell that thing is, I don't like it." Shariel turns to Yasei, "Tell your pet to let us pass so we can get out of here."

Grishkar Darkmoor, Necromancer of Nerull the Despiser Kelvin Rabbitfoot, Diviner, con artist, always hunting for a good sale Bründir Halfshield, Valor Bard, three-time Sheercleft Drinking Competition Champion, Hometown hero
(Sorry, I get confused which god is in which character. I may have mixed up characters LOL - whoever has Kubazan, Yasae, I believe, is very happy)
Maldrek was the first to see it. First, an eyestalk watching you all - then it rose up. A massive creature that looks like a toad with four tentacles emerges from the murky pond. It is hands down the largest creature you have ever seen so far. It is wet, slimy, and angry. It roars, if you could call it that, a bubbly angry noise that echoes throughout the complex. It's tentacles waving and lashing it lumbers towards you all.
Everyone make wisdom checks please. This thing is truly horrific. Yasei, make your check at advantage.
Yasei's stomach rumbles due to Kubazan wriggling inside with excitement. Yasei, on the other hand, is about to hurl. She spits out a little bit of bile, nonchalantly.

Bree will walk around the courtyard to see if she (and her onboard god) perceive anything.
ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he).
Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.

Can we tell how long ago the mutilations occurred? Are the baddies that far ahead of us?

If we didn't already, Mal will search the bodies for anything interesting.
This happened about an hour or so ago. And there is nothing else of interest on the bodies or in the enclosure.
Onto the next zone, all while keeping a keen eye out for the Red Wizard gang.
