quote from Romantically Apocalyptic byVitaly S Alexius
Parolanta smiles and leads you all out a different exit from the palace which opens to a similar small garden area before leading out into the streets lined with the ridiculously tall hedges. As promised, you only travel about 500 feet down the road without incident before she points out a door in the hedge with a very decorative sign that says Tel’s Pool.
As you step in, chimes ring gently and you see a showroom full of all manner of clothing hanging on racks and folded on shelves. On the left side of the room, you see leather boots and belts, woolen pants, skirts, and vests of all colors, cotton shirts, and thick cloaks. On the right side of the room are more extravagant outfits: more silks and embroidery, ruffles and lace on the dresses, shirts, and pants here.
In between these two halves of the shop, an archway on the back wall opens into what appears to be an outdoor space with lush vegetation. You hear a bit of a splash and a lovely voice calls out, “I’ll be with you in a moment!” And in said moment, you see a female figure enter through the archway, clothed in a beautiful blue silk robe with intricate embroidery in greens and golds. Her skin is a deep brown with blue undertones, her ears long and pointed, her eyes dark brown with flecks of blue and gold, and her ebony hair sprouts out in short twists. She is stunningly beautiful. You are literally unable to act or speak for a moment when you first lay eyes on her.
“Good afternoon, my friends. I am Tel’Marxas. Welcome to Tel’s Pool. How may I help you?” she says with a dazzling smile. You have seen the beauty and almost unnerving grace of the high elves here in the Feywild, but Tel’Marxas is something more. (You can make an Arcana check if you wish to identify what kind of creature she is.)
Tellior bows gracefully to the beautiful Tel'Maxas. "It is truly an honor to meet you. I'm so sorry to intrude, but I was hoping to fine a new outfit. Perhaps you could suggest something. Surely your recommendations would be the utmost perfection."
A gentle laugh escapes Tel’Marxas at Tellior’s words. “You are most gallant! It is no intrusion for customers to enter my shop seeking clothing. Do not be fooled by my beauty. I am merely a humble clothier who was born with this pleasing appearance. It would please me to help you find just the outfit you seek.” She cocks her head and takes a moment to look Tellior up and down. “What do you need? Something functional or a more decorative ensemble? For about 6 gold, I can offer a complete set of clothes to suit an adventurer who must travel often. That includes everything from boots to cloak. Our more fanciful garments for dancing and socializing and impressing the eye are closer to 45 gold. In either case, I would recommend blues, black, or silver for you.”

Tellior chuckles, "Ah yes, you would of course want to help out your customers! Oh, and those colors do sound wonderful." He looks around the shop a moment, thinking. "I normally wear armor when traveling. Perhaps something elegant but sturdy enough to wear with the mail. Plus an additional tunic to wear when I don't need the armor?" He smiles, seeming content with his decision, "Sadly, no fine silks and lace at the moment. I definitely think a vibrant blue and silver cloak is called for, although..."
He takes up the bright white cloak that he is currently wearing. "Is there perhaps a way to include this symbol of Milil on the cloak? It is the symbol of the god I serve." He shows her the symbol embroidered onto that cloak.
Celesta says”I’m saving most of my money for spells, but would you have a hooded cloak that would suit me, as an aspiring wizard, that I could also wear to a dinner with The lady?”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kellen looks around the shop, eyes darting between the stylish, yet functional section and the elegant silks of the formal wear. But his breath is taken away when Tel walks into the room and he tries to place her background. Arcana 8
He whispers to Tellior "Her name sounds just like yours!"He gives a deep bow “Good afternoon, my lady. I am Kellen, and what would you recommend for me? “ he spreads his arms wide to show off his current, nondescript traveling outfit. “While the fancy clothes are nice, I think I am in need of something more functional, but can still be worn in fine company. And a cloak that might help me blend in during times of need.”
He looks about the room, trying to get a peek at what looks to be a garden in the back “and why do you call this place Tel’s pool?” Perception 4
Triss' eyes widen as they take in the shopkeep. With a small clearing of their throat (and a small blush), they tear their eyes away long enough to give a little bow. "Afternoon, madam." More pretty words linger on the tip of their tongue, but for once, Triss is surprisingly tongue-tied as they stare at the shopkeep. Their blush only deepens as they seem to realize what they're doing, and they turn to look at the clothes instead.
Oh, colors! They could buy something other than dull browns for once. Their smile only growing, they play with the little yellow ribbon at the end of their braid before starting to search on their own. "Oh, this embroidery is so nice!" they gasp quietly to themself, fingers hovering above the fine fabrics. "And this fabric's so soft!"
As you all look through the shop, you see that all of the clothing is of higher quality than you may have seen in shops in Seaside Harbor. Even what you might call ordinary traveling clothes are finely crafted. You are able to find just about anything you would like. Tel’Marxas shows Tellior a variety of options that would work well with his armor and few well made tunics: blue, silver, or black. “I could certainly embroider your symbol upon the cloak for an additional 5 gold. I could have it ready for you by tomorrow evening.”
She takes a moment to examine Celesta’s current look and then finds her a woolen traveler’s cloak in a green slightly darker than her dress and another that is silver to go with her hair. “If you don’t need the full set these cloaks are 2 gold. If you would like something nicer…” and she shows you some silk cloaks with embroidery, one in greens and golds with leaf and vine motifs and the other in greens and silver with stars and a few simple glyphs. “These are 15 gold.”
Next the clothier turns her attention to Kellen. “Blue to bring out your eyes and maybe a brown cloak to blend in? A green cloak might do better depending on your surroundings. Then, I might go with brown pants and vest. Though of course you are welcome to choose anything you like. You might even go with a purple vest, if you would like to make a bit more of a splash.”
She turns to Triss, “And what interests you, dear? I think something gold maybe? And blue, perhaps? Are you looking for fancy or functional?”
If Tellior is happy with slightly better traveler’s clothes, he could get the items he mentioned: sturdy boots, belt, pants, and shirt to wear with mail, nicer tunic, and blue and silver cloak.
Kellen can get the full traveler’s clothes for 6gp: boots, belt, pants, shirt, vest or tunic, and hooded cloak. Whatever colors you like.
Has Ember entered the shop?
For Kellen:
You are pretty sure that Tel’Marxas is some kind of nymph, a creature known for beauty so intense that it can strike viewers blind. It is unusual to see one in a city, but Hedgegrove is no ordinary city. As you stroll past the archway in the back of the shop, you see a lovely garden full of plants that partially hide a pool of water.

( Celesta’s eyes light up with joy when she sees the silk cloak with embroidery in greens and golds with leaf and vine motifs. “Ooh… I’ll buy that one!” She is delighted. (What did we have ? 40 GP fo spend? She spends the 15). .
Kellen blushes at the attention he gets from the dryad, and readily accepts her recommendations. He selects sturdy leather boots and belt, brown trousers, a blue shirt, and a purple vest. He tops it off with a dark green hooded cloak.
“This is marvelous, thank you! I will go with the purple vest, just for a splash of color as you suggest.” He will change into his new outfit in the shop, if a changing room is available, and gladly pays the dryad 6 gold pieces.
“What a lovely cloak, Celeste! The detail is extraordinary. And Tell, you look great as well. The shop truly does work miracles!” he congratulates the others on their purchases.
"This shop is just marvelous Kellen! Could you ever imagine being in a place like this when we were back home?" Tellior says to the gnome.
He then turns his attention back to the store's proprietess. "Well Tel'Marxas, this is definitely a very difficult choice. I think I will go with the predominantly blue outfit with the silver accents," he says. "However, for that outfit I would like a lighter cloak. And then would it be possible to also purchase one of those woolen traveler's cloaks in a silvery color that would match the outfit as well? I would ask to have my symbol embroidered on the silver cloak if possible." He smiles happily as he contemplates his new attire.
After having made his own selection, he looks around at his other friends. Noting the fine silk cloak Celesta has chosen Tellior almost seems ready to completely change his mind, but he doesn't. "That is a beautiful garment Celesta." And he can only watch Triss with happiness as they delight in looking at the items. He slips over to them after Tel'Marxas makes her recommendation and whispers, "Something with a bright gold would be dazzling on you Triss."
(I do believe the 200 gp divides to 40 gp each. For my items I'm assuming 6 gp for the outfit, 5 gp for special embroidery, and another 2 gp for a second traveler's cloak = 13 gp total.)
Tel’Marxas helps everyone with their purchases while Triss makes up her mind. She shows Kellen a dressing room in the corner. The whole time, Parolanta has been watching you all with a huge smile on her tiny face. She is so glad you are pleased.
(If Ember is in the shop, Tel’Marxas would ask him if would like anything. And yes, I think it was 40gp each.)
