Muttering curses, Smudge follows Shaylin, shrugging at Thasa as he passes. Smudge attempts to follow her in the shadows, so that if she runs into trouble he can step in unseen.

The cleric whispers in archaic elvish something about being asleep for a long time but you don't know if he's daydreaming or telling you the truth. 

He is exhausted and it shows. 

OOC: I 'll need to know who is going to the room where the sound cones from. 

Shaylin is in front and Smudge follows, hiding. Thasa seems to be coming along. 

Shaylin you turn the corner and see into a room that was once a library. You have not entered the room yet but from where you are you see in the dim light, shelves and some books lying on a rotting carpet. 

OOC. I m going to need a insight check. The others tell me what you want to do and roll skills if you think they are appropriate. 

Smudge peers past Shaylin, eyes focusing , watching for any sign of movement, glimmer of magic, etc. he is not skilled at finding traps but expects one any moment.

Perception: 7

Thasa looks around the entrance to the room checking for anything out of the ordinary and then looks further into the room, systematically scrutinising the area.

23 Perception 

Peering into a tomb of knowledge. Ideas begin to form in his head (insight 6). Turning around to find the shackles behind him still had answers to give.

Sage carefully sets the Elf down, silently making sure he is comfortable before standing straight. She nods softly as she is handed the potion, "Thank you." She says quietly and sees Shaylin suddenly walking off. She frowns and narrows her eyes, wondering what Shaylin is doing, beginning to follow. 

Thasa you see that some of the pages of the books flutter, but there is no wind to speak of from where you are standing. And you are certain that the shelf on the right moved a bit. Almost like it's ready to pounce.

You all have a free action before combat begins. But Thasa being the only one aware of this needs to tell or spring the trap.

OOC: I'll say that if Zanna followed it's okay. She can make a move. 

Monsters are mimics: one shelf and three books on the floor.

"Everyone beware! The books are a trap - watch out for that shelf too!" He calls out clearly, pointing at the shelf in question "I doubt these things can be reasoned with, better to stay back and try and kill them from afar."  He pulls out his bow, notching an arrow.  "He looks at Smudge and Shaylin "I'm sure fire would work but we will probably also burn down the place, if there is anything worth salvaging in there it might be better to bear it in mind. If we try and draw them out we might be able to burn them up in the corridor?" He sees Sage coming towards them and calls out "We might need you, we've found some animated monstrous books!"

Thasa then fires into the books on the floor.  Following that he steps back as far as possible whilst maintaining line of sight to the books.

When Thasa speaks, Smudge darts forward, and the frost that had been flickering along his talons narrows into a ray of white cold. He fires his cantrip at the Bookcase

Sage runs forward hearing Thasa's statement and grips her weapon tightly prepared to fight

"What are you shooting at? All I see is some books moving in the wind."

Hearing Shaylin ask what the problem was Thasa shouts back "What wind? There isn't any down here, the books are a creature of some sort in disguise."

A cold sweat enveloped the gnome. Oh, horrors! She had faced the slimy caterpillars! Had she not deserved some respite from monsters. Her institute never had such things. The only thing she was in danger from were paper cuts. Waddling near Sage, she stood at ready at Thasa's plan before darting out and firing a fire bolt into the room. If she fired true, she hoped to retreat back and help those dratted things burn and burn.

Turning around to see what Thasa is talking about Shaylin sees the mimmics for what they are. "Where did they come from?"

Thasa your arrow misses and skids on the floor. It sends the three books flying. Two of them have a white shine the third a green rune on its cover. 

Shaylin your bolt pins one of the white book to the wall farther down on the other side of the room. Zanna' s bolt of fire missed it though. 

Smudge's frost ray leaves a sheen of ice on the bookshelf. It moves like a stung animal and growls, showing rows of sharp teeth between shelves.

OOC:   Only two books are flying. One white and one green. The shelf is still inside the room and may have moved a bit toward the entrance where you stand. In front of the entrance stands Shaylin crossbow ready then behind Smudge then Sage and Zanna. Thasa has retreated further down the hall but still in line of sight. Seems right?
