You are completely, absolutely, 100% sure that Derin bears this group no malice and truly believes this is the best way to resolve the situation quickly, neatly, and relatively safely. Your nat 20 also informs you that Derin has been surprisingly relaxed this whole time, being effectively a noncombatant in a room of heavily armed people who just killed three armed warriors, and one would expect a typical civilian priest to be more nervous...but to be fair, this is Karrnath, and armed forces and people are much more a part of daily life here than most places in Khorvaire. He's also definitely looking at the small dragon (you) a little funny, mostly like he's trying to figure out what exactly a tiny dragon is doing running around here.
Case:
Looking Derin up and down, you don't see any particular sign of clues. He's wearing BoV robes with the symbol on his breast, you can see the tip of a magical focus of some sort sticking out of one pocket, and the robes are a little wrinkled now from Stitch's climbing around. No armor or visible weapons other than the focus or anything like that.
Derin raises an eyebrow at PM. "I am not stripping," he says quite bluntly before turning and tugging his collar down so you can see that the back of his neck, at the same spot where the tattoos on the three people you just killed were, is bare and unmarked. "I would like to point out that if what you said about the last person who attacked you coming back as a ghost is true, it is likely the spirits of these three are already reporting back. So the clock is ticking." He gestures to the three bodies here.
PM turns and looks at the group and does his best shrug. "...to be fair, we don't know enough about our enemies to even know if they all have tattoos or not... or where...still, now I worry the afterlifes of our dead friends could be a threat to our new one... I do suspect we can trust him well enough, but is he safe enough to go report on his own...?"
Drego snatches Stitch out of the air as he leaps, swinging him back into place on his back. ‘I know buddy, I don’t like it either. But the priest is right. We’re working against the clock here.’
withiut taking his eyes off the door and the hallway beyond, Drego would pitch his voice toward the rest of the party ‘What do we think? Smash our way through and try to solve this thing with blade and bolt and fire or try convincing the powers that be to help us…..’ the last line emphasized with a quirked eyebrow
"...if Derin here feels safe enough reporting to the powers that be on his own, we may as well be consistent and leave our customary trail of bodies..."
"The catacomb is in the lower levels of the Monastery. We likely won't see many people on the way, it's not the most commonly treaded area. And I feel fairly confident in my ability to go inform my superiors on my own. I do not believe I am going to be a high priority for the Order, if they even decide to go after me." Derin says calmly. "If you're ready to go, then follow me."
PM rides on Jax’s shoulder but keeps looking back at Dancing Lights Stitch and using Prestidigitation to make the sound of squishy footsteps and appearance of little splashes of water as if the ‘light Stitch’ was walking through water…

Drego drifts to the back of the party, constantly checking their backtrail for any signs of an ambush.
He had a bad feeling about this, but honestly, nothing much had gone their way since they started out on this journey - maybe rooting the Claw out at the source would at least give them a safes night's rest.
Perception for the backtrail - looking for ambushers, secret door or any other signs of nefarious activity: 14
Drego does not see any nefarious activity on the way.
Derin leads you through a mazelike path through the lower Monastery, eventually stopping outside a large set of double doors. "The crypt is through here," he tells you. "I don't know what defenses they may have laid, so be careful"
"It's supposed to be nothing. This crypt has been cleared out and unused for a while--we only come here for Long Shadows rituals when we need to do larger arcane rituals that require more space than we have in the usual chambers. But I don't know what they might have done in here." Derin shrugs. "The crypt itself is a pretty straight line. There's an antechamber, a preparation room, and then a hallway down to the main crypt. In that order, all one after another."
Case follows along, surprised at the calm nature of Derin and his surprising implications about the force they battle and how little faith he has in his own leadership. But, his reasoning is sound and besides, Case had learned long ago that action spoke louder than words. They had a mission, but they must needs stifle this resistance to their journey if they have the chance.
With his metallic dog padding along beside him, and his winged companion crouched on his shoulder, he looked into the crypt before them. "Very well, let us proceed."
His metallic body covered in gleaming plates of metal cover his body as he steps as quietly as possible into through the gap looking for the antechamber. He stops just over the threshold of the crypt and looks back to Drego, quietly whispering, "Do you think you can check the path for traps?"
