Jax is fine to take steerage but he complains about being bored for so long in the city. He lets PM handle the coin. He asks if there is anything they should do in town while they wait.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Pieste Mor dives into Jax’s backpack and a utters and scrambles around in there for a bit. Eventually he pops up with a smile on his face. “…got it, got it…”
First the dragon hands the metal facsimile two golden coins. “… do not forget the Vig… Jax is quite the costly lender…”
Next PM flaps over to Stitch. PM takes the shiny rocks and says “…allow me…”
Going over yo the master of ticketry, Pieste Mor pays for Stitch and Jax. “…two for steerage… the child and the big one… I’ll stay on his shoulders and be no trouble… the big one’s…”
((10 gold from Jax, his ticket and 2 gold to case. 8 from PM for Stitch’s ticket….))
The dragon does his best to hide the fact the shiny stones weren’t used to buy tickets but we’re instead stealthily shoved into Jax’s backpack…
Sleight if hand: 4 Once the stones are dropped in the backpack, the dragon curls up atop the bag and closes his eyes with an exaggerated puff of smoke from his nostrils.
Robin hands over the cost of the steerage ticket and nods. "How long did you say until the train will be here, with the delay and all?" She asks the ticket agent as she tucks some strands of red hair behind an ear, several strands having escaped from her braid.
Drego hangs far enough back to continue to give the group overwatch protection, and hopes Robin remembers the pouch full of gold he shoved in her hand to cover his and Stitch's fare.
He pays no attention to the details at the ticket counter - confident in whatever arrangements the team makes - and keeps a diligent watch for any would be ambushers or anyone who seems to be following the party.
Little bit of paranoia here - and a little bit of an urban bounty hunter sticking to his character - happy to ride steerage with the party.
"Two days from now, evening after tomorrow," the ticketperson replies to Robin. "After that, everything should be back to being on time, and it'll be ten hours to Atur."
"Well, what do you guys want to do for 2 days?" Robin asks with a frown, turning to her companions. "Best find an inn to stay at for starters I suppose."
Drego falls in step with the team as they step away from the ticket counter, the two day delay - one that keeps them in the city - worries him as well. 'Outside the city we'd be completely cut off, no hope of any help. And we have no idea how they are tracking us - how did that spy know where we were? And if this delay is to keep us from moving forward, how did they know where we were going?' He looks from one companion to another 'It feels like there are too many variables, too many unknowns. I think PM has it right, somewhere we can lay low but not isolated seems best. We should move from here, see if we can find a likely place on our own - would hate to tip our hand to anyone here who might in league with those hunting us'
The ranger demeanor is that of a nervous cat, head on a swivel, hand drifting near his weapon, rocking back and forth on the balls of his toes.....
“…if we’re stuck here we could also investigate the former mister stabby who was so unkind to Jax…” Pieste Mor suggests. “…try to figure out who hired them, who they’re reporting to despite being deceased…”
'That would help me sleep better at night, or at least let me think about maybe sleeping.....' Eyes swinging from side to side the ranger reaches down and scoops the little goblin up to his customary perch on his shoulder 'We should start moving'
Case follows along as the group looks for an Inn. His flying creature flaps fifty feet overhead scanning for a tail while his mechanical dog follows at his side, eyes also alert.
"Let us find an Inn, then we can start asking around about this city, figure out a bit about the population, the people who influence situations, and who may be so interested in us."
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
What's the difference between a Wizard and a Sorcerer? Class.
You all get settled at the Gold Dragon Inn, where the halfling innkeep charges 8 sp/night for rooms, food, and drink (with additional costs if you order something particularly expensive) or 5 sp/night if you aren't getting any food.
What methods are you using to investigate around the city?
While the others are making arrangements at the Gold Dragon Inn PM will note “…we have no ‘Pink Halfling’ establishments…” but otherwise works to not take offense. He will dig through Jax’s backpack and eventually find and drop onto the bar one of the two daggers they got from their latest follower. “…you wouldn’t recognize this weapon, would you…?” PM asks the halfling. “…we are looking to return it to its owner… it seems intricately designed and so we thought someone might miss it more so than an ordinary knife… “
The halfling immediately lets out a startled yelp and slams her hand down to cover the decorated hilt, looking around to see if any of the other customers have seen it (they haven't). "What in Khyber do you think you're doing, waving Order of the Emerald Claw weaponry around? Do you want to get arrested, or me raided? And where in Dolurrh did you find this anyway?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“…order of the what?” Pieste Mor asks. “…do forgive, we’re just travelers… passing through… we found this in an alley when we took a wrong turn, thought it unique enough to be missed is all…”
Pieste Mor will reclaim the dagger and once again toss it into the backpack. “… certainly did not intend to alarm… should we be? please, tell us what we should know…”

Dragon may be trying to persuade, but he's doing it through lying, so I'd rule it Deception.
"The Order of the Emerald Claw, the terrorist group that's been running around for the last five years since the king broke ties with the Blood of Vol," the halfling explains, a little tersely, still clearly slightly shaken by you pulling the dagger out in the middle of the room. "Used to be Karrnathi special forces, but now they use all sorts of illegal necromancy and such. Some of them claim to still be Seekers, but they definitely don't follow Blood of Vol tenets--Seekers hate them more than anyone."
Everyone: Around here is probably where you remember the accusation Shaehas made that Vorik was working with the Order of the Emerald Claw. You didn't pursue the theory, but you have heard the term before.
Case: This likely jogs your memory a bit, as a Karrn. It's more or less what the halfling is saying--the Order was a chivalric order from the Blood of Vol formed at the start of the Last War to serve as Karrnathi special forces. When the king broke ties with the Blood of Vol, the Order went totally off the rails and is now considered a terrorist group.
"Steering works for me." Robin says, glancing to the others. What about the rest of you?" She pulls 8 gold out to pay her fee.
Stitch fishes around in his various pouches and eventually pulls out the two shiny rocks and offers them to the ticket person as payment.
Jax is fine to take steerage but he complains about being bored for so long in the city. He lets PM handle the coin. He asks if there is anything they should do in town while they wait.
Case is fine with steerage as well, assuming someone can lend him the 2 gold he needs to pay his way.
