Drego wakes in the morning feeling uneasy. He'd missed all the signs. Let them walk right into trap, into an actual killbox. Stitch had nearly died because of his oversights.
He'd been so focused on blasting his way out of problems he'd stopped using his eyes and his ears to give him the information he needed to avoid problems to begins with.
No more. He'd rededicate himself to his craft. To quiet watching. To thinking things out, finding the weakness - then blasting their foes to bits....

Jax finishes his rest with some light calisthenics and sword forms (without the sword) and he appears faster in his attacks and a bit more capable. He listens to PM and nods. "The High Baxter is the boss of Derek, right? I like Derek, so his boss seems useful to help. Thank you. I will do what I can to guide the group to being nice to Baxter. The Emerald Claw has been trouble. I do not like them. So this should be easy. How are you doing, my friend? We have gathered many enemies. The exploding blood guy's queen, the elves with the scary mask, the claw. So it is good to have friends."
He is otherwise ready to talk to Derin, after checking in with each member of the group.
Case spends part of the rest repairing damage to his steel dog caused by the spikes. By the time he's done the doggo is looking shiny and new. His little flapping flyer flits for fun. Case meanwhile appears, covered in crisp and bright armor as usual, his shield on one arm. He greets the group with an ill-timed shrug.

Stitch presents with much pride and gusto to the group a crudely hand drawn map that details the hallways immediately surrounding the room(s) they all stayed in. He clearly seems to believe that this helps everyone somehow…
After your various morning discussions/activities/etc., Derin arrives at the door. "High Abactor Malevanor would like to speak with you all. Please follow me."
"Is High Baxter Mullivanor who owns this house?"Jax says, standing and waiting to follow Derin respectfully. "I would like to help him. Her. Them? Who are they? Can you tell us about them as we climb? I am guessing there are many stairs."
Case clumps along behind the group, his armor clanking as he walks. His dog clanks beside him and his flappy thing sits on his shoulder. His shield on his arm, but weapon hanging from his side, he follows along, not particularly wary or suspicious any longer.

Drego: You do not sense any malice or deception from Derin--the High Abactor does appear to really want to speak with you, and not in an intent-to-harm kind of way.
Derin nods at Jax as he leads you all down a warren of passages that actually seem to be going down rather than up. "The High Abactor is the highest-ranking priest in the Blood of Vol. I suppose in a way he owns the Monastery, but it really belongs to the religion as a whole. He was the apprentice to the last High Abactor, Askalor, but when Malevanor was mortally injured during the Last War, Askalor transferred his oathbound status and powers to his apprentice. Malevanor has been serving as High Abactor ever since, and he has done an admirable job of it, especially in the wake of the king's breaking of ties with the Blood of Vol." He comes to a stop outside a pair of red double doors. "Are you ready to enter?"
"...fear not my little friends... though our dealings with the undead have, so far, led to us being attacked, ambushed, deceived, delayed, wounded and nearly killed so far... that does not mean they are untrustworthy..." Pieste Mor points out.
"...errr... on second thought.... oh! we seem to have arrived!"
Derin opens, the door, and you enter a room draped with blood red curtains and lit with a strange red glow, the source of which you can’t quite identify. In the center of the room is a low stone altar with a cup of dark red liquid on one side and a knife with a blood-red gem set in its hilt on the other. Standing behind the altar is a figure clad in black robes, hood pulled down to reveal a desiccated skull and glowing red eyes. He looks at you and raises his cloth-wrapped arms in welcome. “I am Hass Malevanor, Abactor of the Crimson Monastery and High Priest of the Blood of Vol. I welcome you to Atur and apologize for the troubles you have suffered from the Order of the Emerald Claw.” His voice is raspy and dry. “I believe I have you to thank for discovering a sect of the Order operating within our very walls, and I offer these gifts in thanks." He hands you each a piece of red glass shaped like a drop of blood, and a small pouch. "But I am afraid I would ask your help to finish what you have started.”
OOC: You each get 50 gp and a charm of vitality, which allows you to grant yourselves the benefits of a potion of vitality as an action once before vanishing. It'd probably be easiest for everyone's sanity to just add the potion to your sheets :)
"...we are helpers... it is what we do... but we are on an important mission to deliver a message..." PM explains. "...we wouldn't have tallied here long enough to be waylaid by such toughs if it hadn't been for a minor train delay..." As he says it the dragon subtly nudges Jax to try to remind him...
Stitch happily accepts the proffered shiny gifts. He’s even willing to carry other people gifts for them… should they not want to carry their own. His eyes are drawn to the knife with the blood red gem in it and he eyes it greedily. Watching. Waiting for an opportunity to inspect it more closely.
Drego watches Stitch's greedy little eyes land on the shiny ceremonial dagger and shakes his head in exasperation (leaning on my newly boosted passive Perception here - but let me know if you want a roll). He hands Stitch his amulet to try to keep both of the gobbos hands full while they work out the next steps.
'What does finishing this look like?'
The ranger continues to study everyone and everything for any signs of deceit or misdirection.
"Thank you." Robin says with a slight bow as she accepts the pouch and charm. She tucks both away as she frowns at the undead. "What do you have in mind?" She asks, nodding to her companions. "As noted, we are just waiting for a train, and will need to leave once that arrives. Is what you wish of us something that can be done prior to us leaving?"

"Is High Baxter Mullivanor who owns this house?" Jax says, standing and waiting to follow Derin respectfully. "I would like to help him. Her. Them? Who are they? Can you tell us about them as we climb? I am guessing there are many stairs."
Drego sighs at Drein's request. The summons scare him now.
He carefully checks the load on his crossbow, sizes up Derin for any sense of deception and then prepares to follow.

Drego nods from his position near the back of the group, constantly checking their backtrail for any signs of an ambush...
Robin, walking with Drego, shrugs. "Just as well see what they want to see us about." She says.

Jax wonders aloud that perhaps their mission and the task the High Baxter has in mind could happen at the same time?
