(OOC - hey yeah, sorry guys, I'm getting absolutely smashed with this swap over of jobs.)
As the excitement and exhilaration of fresh air and freedom from this neogi nest and whatever the other creatures were that you encountered, the feeling of stress hits Nolla and Perigord. The night sky looms above as you run out and gasp in the cool night air, though the sounds from behind continue to follow.
"Away..." Nolla pants. "Got to get away..." She continues moving, nearly heedless of what the others are doing, seeking some sanctuary away from the tunnels.
In the distance, not too far off, you can make out a light at the farmhouse. In the darkness though, and with the sounds approaching up the tunnels behind, it feels an age away.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Thavriol stays near the rear of the group. He'd prefer to be with Nolla to keep her safe but with the sounds issuing from the caverns, he feels he'd better be at the rear. He looks back, listening hard.
Thavriol tries to work out how far away the creatures are behind them, but with his heart pounding and his heartbeat filling his ears he can't quite make out how far behind they are.
The group continues on, running, exhausted, some of you bleeding. Eventually you see several neogi burst out of the tunnels behind you, some distance behind, but gaining as your exhaustion slows you almost to the point that you wonder if you could even lift a blade anymore. The neogi continue to gain, you can now hear them cackling and chittering as they chase you and at this point something whizzes by you all. The lead neogi lets out a hissing howl of pain as you look over your shoulders to see it fall and tumble. As it tries to stand, another whizzing by your ears strikes it, and it once again howls and hisses. As you catch glimpses over your shoulder, the other neogi slow to stand around it a moment, watching you, then turn to the injured neogi and slash it to death with their claws before dragging the corpse away, hissing and chittering echoing over the fields as they do.
As you all slow and try to catch your breath, some standing, some falling to the ground, you hear a familiar voice from one of the small hills off in the direction of the house. "Well, yers lucky I were out makin' me rounds. Bunch o' daft adventurers! What were ya thinkin' bringin' the bloody hive down on yers?" Then as he gets closer and is able to see who it is and that you have several others with you. "Well I'll be," he says as he lets out a low whistle, "Bloody hell, yer a sight fer sore eyes, aren't yers?" He hangs his heavy crossbow aver his shoulder as he wanders over and gives you all a hand to stand and walk the rest of the way towards the farm house. Once you're all back at the house and collapse, he grabs a cloth and gives his crossbow a once over, "Ol' faithful, ne'er lets me down." He places it down and makes his way to each of the humans you had rescued and checks on them and gets them to bed with some warm food. "Thank yers fer findin' some o' me workers. Pity it weren't all, but still, I be mighty grateful." He looks around awkwardly for a moment, then adds, "Only problem is, I ain't got much ta pay yers."
Nolla sits by a window, unable to keep from looking out into the darkness, even not able to see anything as she is, but she continues to watch, uncaring about talk of payment. All she cares is she is out of those tunnels, and that she is never going back, never again.
Thavriol nods in greeting. "I thank you for your aid, sir. As for the why, we were not 'daft' as you colorfully put it, but fleeing from a superior force. And we're happy to have saved who we can." He stands on the porch, keeping watch on the cave opening. "For payment, what can you offer? Right now, I would be happy for a place to stay and a hot meal, if you please."
"I'm sure I can knock somethin' up fer yers," he says as he turns to start kicking around the house, clattering and banging as he goes. He eventually returns with a pretty average meal to say the least, but at least it's warm, and a mug of ale for each of you. "Well, I don't know much, 'cept fer farmin' an' the like. That an' them beasts that yer've met already. Yer all welcome ta stay the night 'fore yers head back ta town, that's no problem."
(OOC - feel free to RP anything else you wish here guys. You just have your travel back to town after this. While you did not get much in the way of riches or items this trip, you did make a bunch of XP! Once back in town and while you're resting up, you can add 3500xp which I'm pretty sure will take you all up a level :) But it was a close one with some very injured party members too.)
The next morning the residents of the farm all help to get you sorted for your trek back to town. Even though the evils you encountered the day and night before loom just below the surface, they all wish to stay on the farm and try to get back to work as best they can. However, should you decide to journey back this way, they wouldn't say no to you travelling back below to take care of more of the creatures.
(OOC - thanks for bearing with me guys, it's been a crazy time lately. I hope you enjoyed this little delve below the farmland :) Don't forget to add 3500xp to your characters. I'm pretty sure that will level you to 4th, so go ahead and level up as well!)

"stay with the group, they pick you off if you split off. it's what raiders and predators do, go for the loners."

Nolla slows a bit, but not much, staying just ahead of the group as she moves towards the light of the cabin. "It is so far..." She groans.
"but it's closer that it used to be. hold the course, we'll make it through." Samael reassures her.

Samael is agreeable to the meal and rest offer.

Perigord huddles in a corner for a moment, then expends his lay on hands on anyone who wants some.
"Well, I'm glad we got out of there with our skins. I second Thavriol- food and a hearth to rest at will tide me over."
( short rest got me 5 hp and my magic back. learned a new cantrip and a 2nd level spell and upped my con and wis stats.)
"I'm sure I can patch myself up the rest of the way once we reach the town. thank you for the offer though."

Thanks for running it! I've leveled up Nolla to 4.
