"I'd say this is the path the thing was taking that guy to." Nolla says, nodding to the path she found and glancing back to the now-very-dead body. "Shall we keep moving?" She says this as she glances with more than a bit of concern at the darkness down the path she has picked.
Pushing forward, the tunnel remains narrow and cramped, however as you continue the tunnel ceiling drops down, forcing you to either crouch or crawl, except for Perigord the halfling.
(OOC - Just checking if you guys had a light up as well? Was Thavriol carrying one at the front?)
After a little crawling and manoeuvring through the cramped space, you round a corner and into a larger cavern, approximately 50t in diameter. In the middle of the space stand four of the creatures similar to what you saw earlier and between them lays another unconscious neogi. At first their attention seems focused on the creature at their feet, but as your light spills into the darkness of the cavern, their attention quickly shifts to you. One snaps and barks, and the others respond in kind. They stand, still and motionless except for the slow open and close of their large claws.
(OOC - I'm not sure I entirely get what you're asking here? Do you mean the creature type, such as aberration, fey or beast? Or are you asking about their demeanour, how they seem to be taking to you walking in on them?)
Thavriol wracks his brain trying to determine what they are. He's encountered undead and celestial, and his forays into Alycron have met him with some aberrations like the neogi, however you're not entirely sure what this is. Though given the creature, you feel that it is most definitely not natural.
Nolla tenses, ready for whatever comes next. The group stands along the outer edges of this cavern, approximately 25ft from the creatures. The three creatures maintain their attention on the neogi on the ground, but are wary of you as well. The fourth continues to stand, reasonably still, its pincer like hands snapping occasionally, as does its spider-like jaw, while it watches you carefully.
"The enemy of my enemy and all that..." Nolla mutters as she watches these strange creatures. She gathers her courage and steps forward. "Can you understand my words?" She asks tentatively as she stops after only a few steps, not willing to get closer than that to the things. She would wait for a response from the things. If they appear to understand her she would continue... "We were sent into these tunnels to deal with those creatures you seem to be also fighting against." She nods to the downed neogi near the creatures. "If you are against them, then we may be able to work together to clear them out of these tunnels..."
Thavriol moves forward with Nolla, allowing her to take the lead but close enough to protect her if need be. He keeps his sword and shield to hand but lowered.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The creature standing before you makes no moves to attack or otherwise, other than slightly weaving and bobbing its head and the occasional snap of its pincers and mandibles. To you all, it appears not to react or understand either Perigord's deep speech or Nolla's queries in common.
(if that happens, Samael will remind them that he's a warlock. Hexblades are a thing.) (won't say he is or isn't one, though.)

Thavriol nods and moves into the passage, taking a moment to orient himself to the passage they used to enter this chamber. All senses alert.

Samael follows, fed up and making sure that nothing violates his mind. (not doing perception on account of setting up mental barriers.)

Samael exudes "Done with this $#!t" vibes having to crouch through muting muck.
Thavriol crouches low and duck walks through the passageway, cursing under his breath the whole way.
ooc: I believe our human has a light source. Thavriol, with his Darkvision, would not have carried one at the front.

Nolla has a light source she is carrying. She crouches down as she moves forward, limber and at ease with climbing through cramped places.

What do you do?
(what is the nature of these......creatures?)
Thavriol studies the creatures intensely, trying to determine what they are.

Nolla prepares for a fight...
Perigord's eyes glow as he uses his Divine sense to see what he can discern about the creatures.

Perigord gargles out a question in Deep Speech, still using his Divine Senses to see if he can notice anything divine or profane about the room.
"What are your feelings toward the neogi?"
(both)
(what do i roll to ascertain?)
