Upon hearing of the locked door, Tabaqui will descend the stairs and approach it. He will examine it closely for traps. If none are found, he will pull out his thieves' tools and attempt to pick the lock. If there is a trap he will attempt to disarm it.
The lock gives way to Tabaqui's efforts. This chamber houses clay urns, glass jars, and wooden boxes arranged haphazardly on wall-mounted shelves and caked in years of dust.

The stele at the far end of the small room blasts Yabaqui with lightning as soon as he lays eyes on it... if it notices him.

If possible, the rogue dives back through the door which he entered. He drawls to his companions, "Found a trap. I suspect wearing one of those medallions might be protective... If you want to give it a whirl, Vrah. Otherwise, loan it to me and I'll give 'er a go."
"I'll go if Vrah doesn't mind." She'll try and take the medallion back as if it were the most normal action on the planet. She'll also "borrow" and string or twine from someone if able and tie the medallion to her finger
Tabaqui opines, "I'd try wearing it around my neck, and if that didn't work, I'd run up to the stele and loop it over that. No guarantees, but that's what would make sense to me." He shrugs.
<FtR, you've recovered 2 medallions. You may not be and to locate others, so these.. let's call them traits, may need to be avoided or otherwise circumvented.>
Equipped with medallion, Weneon bravely ventures into the the well.peotected pantry and is met with no resistance from the stele or otherwise.
Among the dusty clay urns, glass jars, and wooden boxes, she finds one urn still holds 440 gp worth of diamond dust and a wooden box contains a coil of gold twine almost 3 feet long, worth 290 gp. A medallion of safe passage (like the other 2) hangs from a hook on the southern wall.
The hall beyond this door shows signs if distress (as noted by the animal scouts before) the floors are cracked and those lines run through the adjacent walls, suggesting deep structural damage.
Who will continue down the corridor?
>Forget the marching order for a second, I'm looking for a volunteer like with the door Tabaqui just opened. Do I have a volunteer, or should I pick? >
Marlyth will volunteer sometimes, sending the pack of Wolves forward to soak up most of the damage. She will cast Guidance on Weneon if she's willing to volunteer out of indomitable curiosity.
<Campaign note : the treasure you just found.. I mentioned this is like AL, but less restrictive. To that end, loot if this type, namely fungible loot, can be distributed Bamack-Tarsky style. I'm going to let the wolves go first. As they move across the cracked floor, their paws softly padding over the fractal patterns, the surface does not yield in the slightest.
Have the wolves make a Dex (stealth) check with disadvantage. Multiple things happen on a faliure. DCs 7 and 16, respective.
Angus gets down on one knee to be eye-level with Calner, and says sincerely, "Master Miggledy, please accept my apology for misunderstanding you. I do believe you. It is a poor excuse for my behavior, but I have been betrayed once before, and perhaps am oversensitive to the possibility. I welcome you to our company."
He then stands and continues forward with the rest of the party.
"Ah, you must forgive my manners once again. I am Angus Killburney, Knight of Myth Drannor, son of Gregor, Lord Killburney, and Greer Giantslayer, also of the Knights. I am in this land as an emissary of my order, and am at your service. I look forward to seeing these magical talents of yours put to good use, routing evil, defending justice, protecting..... er, well anyway, welcome, once again.
"Say, speaking of necromancy, tell me Master Miggledy, what do you know of communication with the spirits of the dead? I have had some rather... unusual experiences where I thought I was perhaps receiving messages from a former master and friend. Could this sort of thing be a trick or a trap? Any thoughts?"
Tabaqui will prepare a rope to toss. He will not risk his neck for falling wolves, but if any companions fall into a pit, he will attempt to throw them one end of the rope and hopefully prevent serious damage.
"I don't know how this works really, but what if the Bigfolk wear a medallion and the little folk ride on shoulders or in backpacks? It would be like someone traveling with their babe, could that work?"
Wen says this while twirling the medallion on her finger

<Quick correction: forgot to note lighting change on descending stairs:>
The first level has no usable, surviving light sources. The second and third levels feature periodic wall sconces housing glassy stones magically enchanted to give off dim light. Most of them still work.
As the wolves move through the hallway, they pass an open doorway to the north (or they can look in it, doesn't matter). As they do, 3 bolts of lightning arc towards them (not the 4th), causing them to whimper and bellow (not trying to characterize your summons. Just saying they're making noise - a consequence of the failed DC 7 stealth check. (If it was an owl it would have had advantage.)
DC 15 Dexterity saving throw or 16 lightning damage, or half as much damage with a successful save. For 3 wolves under DC 16
