Zula smiles " it would take all-night to do a full body tattoo, but anything you want that is less than a full body mural, yes. Have a seat? " She motions to her tattoo set up, a bench which can be half reclined or laid flat depending on the tattoo asked for. " You aren't afraid of needles I assume?"
“Needles are fine by me miss. How’s about a big old spider on me back?” Skrach starts stripping off his shirt and furs exposing the gnarled green skin underneath.
"A spider it is. How did you come to be so scarred little fox?" Zula starts her work after considering a design in her head. Asking another question; " is this your first time at Lady Irene's parties?"
"Back home, I runs a giant spider farm, and the lovely little critters can get a bit bitey some days. Big female nearly tore me a new one early in. As for the party, it is me first time in Haven and at any sort of party to be frank. Wass your name miss?"

Zula shows you a progress in a mirror " I've just stenciled this so far, do you like it? I can change it still... Lolth isn't very popular, but she does have some elegant imagery I think, when I think of giant Spider, Lolth is the first thing that comes to mind".
"What do you farm from spiders? Venom? Silk? Are they good working animals? Surely they aren't food?"

Slightly disappointed that the doors in the kitchen are unlocked, Flint follows Hurren into the rooms. He takes a quick look to take in what is inside the rooms, then takes a closer investigation for any sign of the drunken halfling, or anything suspicious, like a body with a missing arm.

Perception 11
Investigation 19
Like Hurren, you hear scratching. It's probably just a rat you might think.
Inside L4 is the kitchen proper; a whole pig is roasting on a spit, cakes and other pastry are baking in a stone oven, and there is a large cask of wine with small spillages underneath the spigot (from refilling wine jugs). The heat of the room mixes the smell of blackberry, cloves, raspberry and other wine spices throughout the room. There is a cook laying near the cask, asleep; a Glass of wine sitting near her, and toppled over, its contents spilling across the room. You get the feeling the smell of the wine, and heat of the kitchen were temptation enough and if she were awake she might have said something like ' a small glass won't hurt, nobody will know; and I work damned hard down here, slaving away for days on end with no thanks...'
You investigate the kitchen and main area. You notice there is a bone saw in the kitchen that seems out of place; there is no evidence of a cold chamber where the household would butcher their own meat (the pig are served whole and dressed before they arrive). Close observation of the cobble floor reveals blood smear underneath the barrels in the main section of the room( in between the tables at the top.) There also seems to be airflow coming from the wall, but you can't find a definite wall seam or lever for a door. You get the feeling there is something behind the wall, the scratching sound is louder here; but after close examination you surmise that if this were a secret room, the entrance would not be accessible from this side as there is servants quarters, with cooks and handmaids who frequent the space .
Another bit of free information; upstairs and down here are approximately identical in terms of floor plan/ size.
(Do you want a door to kick in? I'll make one haha)

Zula begins etching the tattoo permanently now. She is quiet as she works but open to questions.
"There are those in my trade who can do magic tattoos; but I heard this is very expensive, requiring dust of precious gems, and takes great skill and knowledge of arcane arts. One day I hope to be able to offer this service" she muses as she engraves the tattoo.
(After this is finished, add the tattoo to your physical description on your sheet).

Investigation: 5
(Yes, the blacked out area, the limits to my shoddy photo shop skills.)
You open the barrels, one contains water, the other contains apples.
(Rolled a perception check 19 in your sheet) you observe that there are track marks on the floor. Zonanan was definitely taken down here, but whatever mechanism opens this entrance isn't on this side of the wall. You observe that the barrels are mundane, but cover up the blood on the floor nicely. This was a rushed job.

You taste the sweet berries and spices, and something else... Bitter. You think to spit the wine out (con 18 saving throw rolled in your behalf); your mouth feels fat and your tongue is tingling but you've avoided the majority of the wines effects.
You push at the wall with gallant effort before noticing what Hurren did earlier, the track marks on the floor suggest the door opens inwards towards you.
Would you like to do anything else before walking up?
Flint drops the cup as he spits out the drink, tongue tingling “Thon’t drink the wine, thit’s bad”he warns Hurren, slurring his words slightly.
“Let’s go find the others and check out Lady Irene’s quarters. Looks like we may get to meet Malinov after all.” He will move back up to join the others unless Hurren stops him to look at something else.
In the action of shaking his head slightly to clear his head of the notion of eating a mouse, Zensiro turns to Harissa with a half-startled, half-quizzical look, but quickly tries to compose himself. "Ah, well Polpo, Carina, you have me at a disadvantage. I have not played this King's Cup, nor have I paid the buy-in, if there is one. Let me get squared away here and maybe watch one round before joining in. What's it cost to get in here? Or is this just a slightly creative way to get, errr, liberated?" Zensiro will discreetly observe Harissa to see how she manages to avoid drinking and will actively observe the other's behaviour as they continue to consume. Zensiro will try to play as cautiously as possible. If an opportune moment presents itself after a few rounds of the game pass, he will seek to excuse himself while giving Harissa a gentle nudge and meaningful look.

"Hmm, you got the nail on the head smooth skin" says the Dragonborn wearing a bunny mask; Alto. " While I enjoy the strategic aspects of king's cup, sadly it's little more than an excuse for dwarves and halflings to drink themselves blind. Word puzzles and chess are more suitable games, but aparently it's not as fun" while you cannot see Alto's face, his voice belies the cynicism in his demeanour.
You notice his cup is full; Alto notices you looking and adds " this wine is disgusting, spoiled maybe." Motioning to the dwarf " though some aren't so picky about their choice, as long as it gets them, what is it you said...liberated?"
You notice when Harissa takes a sip of wine, her lips are firmly pursed and she roleplays small sips only so as to not draw attention.
Carina fills you in on the rules; " you draw a card from the deck. The 13 cards; ace to kings, correspond to a direction. '2 is you, 3 is me' and so on and so forth. Polpo is right, the best way to learn is by playing, but if you want to watch a few rounds, that's okay too."
Harissa draws a card 8 ( roll a D12+1)
"8 is mate, Polpo you're it." Polpo drains his cup and refills " the aim of the game is to be last person standing. Now any time I drink, Polpo also has to drink.....did anyone see what happened with that Halfling downstairs? Tonight's party is stranger than the others"
"That's because Irene is a witch" Rezmar states; the elf with the very realistic crocodile mask. Rezmar twitches his fingers and draws a queen. " All the queen's drink" the women at the table raise their cups.
"That's ludicrous, lady Irene has been nothing but kind and generous this past month" Jasna says, the human wearing the skull mask.
" She isn't who she says she is, I get an awful feeling from her" Rezmar replies.
Polpo speaks up " you know that arm they found outside? Ever since then I've been concerned about my sister. We attended one of these parties earlier in the month, and I haven't seen her since. I thought she may have run away with a gentleman, it's not that odd...... Barba was always a 'party girl' and snuck out to parties ever as a young Dwarfmaiden. But I've come to these parties ever since hoping I would see her. I'm beginning to become suspicious something happened to her at these parties.
There is a pause in conversation if you want to interject
Zensiro is surprised that Polpo knows of the arm. "Polpo, was the discovery of that arm common knowledge? I'd heard something about it via whispers in the Temple, but they didn't seem sure if it was true. From what little I've heard, I don't know that the description of it would have matched your sister if that's any comfort. This is the first of these soirees that I've attended, but Lady Irene does strike me as a bit unusual. Why does she bother you so, Rezmar? Surely serving bitter wine is not enough to make someone a witch, even if it doesn't match with the image she's presenting. And thanks for the tip, Alto, there's little I like less than a substandard spirit. Jasna, it does seem that Lady Irene is quite generous with these social events. Does she ever request anything of the guests?" Zensiro will join in the game, following Harissa and Alto's lead in pantomiming the drinking of the spoiled wine.
(I hesitate to do so since I'll probably fail, but I'll roll Deception w/advantage since the only people that might be offended by Zensiro not actually drinking already seem drunk. If you want to play it straight, that's fine, too. Just use the first roll. Hopefully I get the syntax right!)

Malichi mills around C1 for a while. He can't help noting the valuables worn and carried by the other guests, but he doesn't let it distract him from the work he's been hired to do. He continues to look for the other members of the team and if he doesn't see anyone he know (going by dress and over all body shape) he heads up the steps to look around there.

Malichi Perception 12
You spot flint and Hurren ascending the stairs from the kitchen. They look determined and so they might not spot you if you don't intercept them.
You also notice something strange. Some of the party guests are circling each other, yowling. Others are trying to pry their masks off with little success. One party goer wearing a lizard mask is seen convulsing on the floor, a reptilian tail sprouting where there wasn't one before.
Zensiro is surprised that Polpo knows of the arm. "Polpo, was the discovery of that arm common knowledge? You draw a 7. Harissa grabs your hand and raises it in the air. "Seven is heaven" she says on your behalf.
All the other players raise their hands. Polpo, who looks distracted and is blowing bubbles, is the last one to do so. Rezmar hands him a drink but Polpo collapses. "One down!" Rezmar yells.
" The arm probably wasn't common knowledge, but those who deal in gossip certainly found out about it. " Says Jasna " lady Irene only requests we don't take our masks off and that we enjoy ourselves"
At this juncture, with your passive perception you notice something feels off. You hear howling from outside the room. Your arm feels itchy and you scratch, your fingers come up, holding a down feather. When you attempt to remove your mask, you cannot find a seam. The mask is now part of your skin.
" See, a witch! Or a demon!" Rezmar says pointing at your arm where another down feather has appeared. "You are wearing an owl mask, and now you are sprouting feathers. Polpo was stupid enough to accept a mask from that Tabaxi down stairs at the door, a crab. Now he has grown claws and is walking like a crab. " Rezmar takes off his crocodile mask " this is my mask; any one wearing one of Irene's masks, try to take them off" Carina attempts to take off her mask but cannot, and neither can Alto. You notice that Alto now has fur up his scaled arms, looking entirely out of place.
" We would know if she was a demon; you know, smell of sulfur, horns, leathery wings..." Jasna says, retracting her skull mask. " Pointing at Alto and Polpo " but I'll admit, that's strange. Alto, are you going to start hopping around on all fours?"
Rezmar twitches his fingers again and a flame appears " I've met demons who can change their shape at will; sulfur and horns is just for fairytales.
Harissa speaks up, "my order sent me here to investigate lady Irene. The last owner of the house disappeared under suspicious circumstances; he was also known for throwing extravagant parties. Then all the sudden Lady Irene shows up, with a writ of ownership to a property that's sat vacant for decades, claiming to be a relation of the previous elven owner. If I think of it, the night of his disappearance was also a 'red moon'..."

The growling intensifies outside.
