The priest doesn't bother keeping things too orderly, or under much lock and key, so it isn't hard to find 500 cp, 2,000 sp, 150 gp, 27 pp, a strand of matched pearls worth 1,000 gp total, two potions of healing, a potion of water breathing, and a spell scroll of light.
Kel will take the other potion of healing, but leave the money. "Can we sneak out, do you think?" they ask, peering around for an alternative exit. "I'm not sure I want kuo-toa and drow chasing us."
As Kel finishes speaking, Buppido, Saerith and Jimjar begin arguing about the goods you all found. Insults begin to be tossed which ends up irritating Prince Derendil who begins making aggressive motions towards the others. Jimjar begins to back down but Buppido and Saerith start going at it, suddenly claiming to be working for various devilish deities. The ruckus is so loud though that a moment later Ploop and several Kuo-toa monitors squeeze into the hovel and, upon seeing the two locked in a struggle, immediately grab them both and drag them out, kicking and screaming.
A few moments pass and their screams die out in the distance and Prince Derendil settles down finally as well, although Jimjar looks put out. "I knew I should have put gold on the two of them ending up like that..." Ploop then returns with his monitors, visibly covered in bits of blood. "The arrangements have been made, come with us." He beckons back outside where a gathering of kuo-toa is taking place.
Finn looks to Crowfell and asks, "I find in unnerving that they leave with two of our group and return bloodied. Think you could find out where it came from or what happened to our mates?" The look on his face betrays his suspicions of the kuo-toas' involvement. "I think it goes without saying that we all watch our backs out there."
One by one the rest of your group begins to file out of the hovel, closely watched by the other Kuo-toa. The dank smell of fetid water and blood begins to wash up the dark street once you are back outside, and herded off towards the waterfront, and the a disgusting display. Your previous comrades strung up over a hideous altar, dead....
The idol to Leemooggoogoon the Deep Father consists of a large hide cut roughly in the shape of a manta ray and stretched out on cords between two support poles. A dead, splayed-out manta ray is pinned to the center of the hide. Two dead octopuses are draped across the top, their tentacles pinned and artfully arrayed, their heads tied together and painted with red and blue pigments. The idol reeks of decay, and the broad stone altar below the idol is stained dark with blood.
Finn's eyes go wide and his hands move slowly to frame his belt buckle, giving him quick access to his hand axes. He says to crowfell "I agree. If this is their idea of help, I'll help them all meet their god face to face. Can you ask them what it is we must do?." He turns to Renner and asks, "what have you heard of rituals like this? Anything we can use against them?"
Kel stares at the idol, horrified. They reach up to clutch at their own holy symbol reflexively. "This is not right," they say quietly to their companions, glancing around. They had a bad feeling this was going to go very wrong. Though that might just be the jaded, recently-held-prisoner part of their brain talking.
Upon arriving at the idol, you see there are 6 normal kuo-toa, 2 monitors and a kuo-toa whip taking care of things and guarding the area, as well as a duergar hung up near your former companions, though he looks like he might still be alive at the moment. A moment later the priest for the Deep Father, Bloppblippodd, comes out of her nearby squat hovel and begins arguing with Ploop about bringing these outsiders and invading her space. Glooglugogg, Ploop's son, then comes waddling over to tell his father to more or less get lost, but Ploop waves him off, telling him these are gifts for the Sea Mother and that he shouldn't get in the way of the goddess's visions. Gloog doesn't like it, but after Blopp gives him a nod, he backs up.
The archpriest of the Sea Mother steps forward across the span of the altar toward the kuo-toa waiting for him there. “The time has come,” he says, “for us to acknowledge your divine vision and welcome it. I have brought these as offerings.” He gestures toward all of you, standing within a circle of guards behind him. “Will you not accept them?” “You are wise, father,” the younger archpriest replies. “I accept your offering in the name of the Deep Father. May their blood nourish and strengthen him!” A burbling cheer goes up from the surrounding kuo-toa, their fists raised in the air.
While your party isn't far from the water at all, you are completely surrounded by approaching kuo-toa. At this point, trying to make a break for it would be more or less suicidal.
There's several moments of silence as he wracks his brain for ideas. Crowfell looking one direction, then another. Surmising the situation with, "****. Okay. I have an idea. When I say potato salad, you all get at least 11 feet away from me." All this spoken in common.
The duergar, barely still alive as he is battered and bruised, looks around frantically in your direction as your group gets closer...closer...the ritual has begun....
Kuo-toa parade around the altar in a wide circle as they chant. Part of their path sends them splashing and wading through the shallows of the Darklake. Before long, you can’t tell one faction of fish-folk from the other, but you do see the archpriest of the Sea Mother and his whip moving toward the altar.
Bloppblippodd calls for the sacrifices to be brought forth, and one kuo-toa attached to each of you jumps to do her bidding. They prod you all with their spears to herd you toward a slight depression about 20 feet from the altar, with a large grate at its center. There you can see that the stonework of the depression is stained with the blood of innumerable sacrifices, and they can hear the gentle lapping of the Darklake coming up through the grate. The chanting grows louder.
Once you're there, Bloppblippodd gestures toward the altar, when her father suddenly attacks, striking her with his scepter. Kuo-toa loyal to him surge forward to attack, while the guards that brought the characters forward stand in shock...

Sennets attention is drawn to the potion of water breathing, inspecting it curiously before beginning to tuck it into his sack.

Also. He grabs about... three or four platinum.

"I've heard of shit like this, it never ends well... They better not try to feed us to whatever this things brings up."

Finn starts looking for the best route to escape. Hes looking for cover, woods, how far away they are from boats, etc
