Stormraider Keep (A M.E.T.A.L. Campaign)

(In preparation for the next round, I'm going to roll initiative for Lady, and you can put her on the map wherever you feel is appropriate for her to have been waiting.)

Lady initiative 13

Flynt reels from the ferocity of the troll attacks. Deep red lines left behind by the troll talons bleed profusely and a small flap of skin dangles out from Counts left cheek. The fighter counts himself lucky he didn't lose an eye. Flynt recovers his footing just as the troll turns to flee. Not one to waste opportunity he sends a bolt streaking after it.

Attack: 4 Damage: 14

Still staggering from all the damage inflicted upon him by the troll, Flynt stumbles towards the bushes to the east (where Elyria is hiding) effectively putting himself between Aurelius and Elyria.

Second wind: 11

(Flynt will hold there and reserve a reaction. The first troll to move within 20 feet will have to make a Dex Save (DC15) or be restrained by Flynts rope of entanglement.)

Flynt's shot misses the retreating troll.  He then moves over into the bushes.

Acorn runs over to just behind Elyria, whike Sozi charges forward, attacks Troll 4, then blinks back to where she started at.

(Bite: 22 Damage: 5)

(Elyria is up, followed by Aurelius.  Technically Sozi comes after him.  Lady added to the queue in the middle of the trolls.)

From her hidden position Elyria finally realizes the full threat of what they are facing. She swiftly summons a spectral bear (in L8) that grants 10 temp hp to Aurelius, Flynt and Elyria.
She then calls upon her friends Gere and Freke to attack the scorched Troll 1 (Conjure animals, two Dire wolves in G7 and F8)

Gere Bite: 16 advantage due to pack tactics Damage: 7 
If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. 

Freke Bite: 15 advantage due to pack tactics Damage: 9 
If the target is a creature, it must succeed on a DC 13 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone. 

Round 3

Aurelius decides to follow the Blink Dogs' example, and get out of harm's way long enough to recover some health.

BA- He will cast misty step and teleport 30 feet due south

Move- He will continue another 15 or so feet southward to be beyond all of the troll's regular movement range

Action- Aurelius will lay hands on himself and recover 25 hp.

Round 3

Troll 1, no longer frightened, will attack the Dire Wolves. 
(Bite Attack at Freke: 16 Damage: 6)
(Claw Attack at Freke: 23 Damage: 15)
(Claw Attack at Gere: 16 Damage: 12)

Troll 2 is also no longer frightened. Seeing Flynt it heads at him, attacking.  (Troll 2 also obviously spots Elyria next to him.)

(Claw Attack at Gere: 11 Damage: 13)

(Lady will be up next, followed by the other trolls.  I placed Lady basically near where Aurelius moved back to.  You can assume Lady was elsewhere if you wish.) 

Map Update

Gere and Freke each take a hit from the sharp claws of the troll but keeps on attacking it. (Troll 1 vs Gere 23/37 and Freke 25/37)

"We need the flame of your blade to defeat them Aurelius." Elyria desperately calls out. "Or if you think we can escape this fight?"

Lady will take the Dodge action, waiting for Aurelius to mount on his next turn.

"I just needed to catch my breath," answers Aurelius, "I will be with you momentarily!"

(In preparation for my next turn, I need some clarification on the Mounted Combat rules... Can Lady make her hoof attack while Aurelius is mounted, or is she limited to "dodge, dash, disengage"?)

(EDIT- based on what I read here I think she can attack only if left to act as an independent mount).

 Flynt spots the troll headed his way and just as it gets 20ft away he whispers "Laqueum" and a silken rope shoots out towards the troll. 

(Sorry - didn't get much chance to get to any of this today. Yes, once you are mounted, Lady moves on your initiative turn and trample is no longer possible.)

Troll 4 attacks Aurelius' Blink Dog.

Troll 3 looking severely damaged, seems to recover some of it's strength.  It steps forward to attack Freke.

Both the Blink Dog and Freke are mortally injured by the Trolls, which continue to move forward. Troll 4 charges up to Elyria and Acorn, while Troll 3 makes it way towards Aurelius. 

(Flynt is now up.) 

(Did you resolve the rope of entanglement?

Also, this might seem picky, for which I apologize, but the Dire Wolves are technically size Large, and would take up 10x10 area, equal to the trolls.  I only point this out because it might affect how the trolls move, and whether Troll 3 had the ability to attack Freke, avoid or suffer attacks of opportunity, and then move.)

(OOC: Umm yeah, I could have pointed out the size of Freke and Gere I guess. I think Aurelius has to decide whether we fight or flee, Elyria has no real means of killing these Trolls I'm afraid.)

(Troll 2 Dex Save: 4)

Troll 2 is tangled up by the rope and is restrained 20 ft away from Flynt. 

(As for the Dire Wolves, I will adjust the sizes. For simplicity I will assume Gere gets an AoO on Troll 3.)

(Flynt is still up)

Elyria watches in dismay as the Trolls tear into Freke but is actually relieved as he disappears, hos spirit finding solace elsewhere. As she sees Aurelius' Blink dog fall to the onslaught of the Trolls she calls out in Sylvan. "Acorn, Sozi, run away, save yourselves, we can handle this!"

The corner of Flynts mouth curls up in a satisfied half grin as he sees his rope tangle the troll, stopping it in its tracks. 

"Arelious! I'll wound them, you finish them!" 

Flynt fires two bolts at troll 4 before retreating back behind the nearest bush (T18). As he does he casts expeditious retreat giving a silent thanks to the Summer Queen for granting him this boon.
