Stormraider Keep (A M.E.T.A.L. Campaign)

With one hand Flynt makes a brushing motion urging Elyria and Aurelius to back up a bit. "Why don't you come down and we can discuss why you're here. I've also got a lovely rope trick I've been dying to show someone. Maybe you'd like to see it." Says Flynt keeping his voice even and non-threatening.

Aurelius looks back and forth from the Oni to Flynt in amazement.  Low, under his breath he mutters, "It could be a trick.  Do. Not. Trust Him."

The creature flies down lower until he is just barely floating above the ground. "I am not really interested in tricks, but perhaps you have seen the light and will help Lady Sylmare?  She can be generous to those who aid her cause."  He seems to be speaking primarily to Flynt rather than Aurelius or Elyria. 

Elyria stays hidden as before, listening attentively to the conversation between Flynt and the ogre mage, hoping the lawman wil be able to find out what he can of the cooperative monster. Gere and Freke too stays back, waiting for any combat to resume.

"And what exactly is her cause? And I'm sorry I'm A little hard of hearing can you come down further?" 

Flynt takes out his Rope of Entanglement and begins to twirl it around. 

"Are you sure I can't show you? I've practiced really hard."  

He gives the free end a circular twirl and just before it hits his ankles he skips over it.  

Athletics or Acrobat (same mod) 22

The large creature gives an odd smile. "Her cause is protecting the good people of Alvahollow of course. Bringing them to strength and power."  He acquiesces to Flynt's request to come closer to hear better, his feet touching down on the ground.  "Your former companion has something Lady Sylmare wants." He pauses a moment, looking at you all. "You do realize she is helping Lady Leilatha in her foul designs? Making the poisons she uses to murder our loyal eladrin companions." 

He then looks directly at Yoë, standing in the distance.  "Perhaps though you already are in league with Lady Leilatha?"  He focuses back on Flynt. "How could you do such a thing?"

"We simply seek the truth. We don't plan on adding our lot in with a deceptive Hag, nor should you. Now hold the end of this so I can demonstrate how this trick works." he hands the being the end of the rope of entanglement. If accepted he will begin to slowly circle the creature. "What's your name friend? Mine is Flynt. This is special knot used for escape tricks. First you wrap up with a single loop."

Aurelius keeps his hand near the hilt of his sword, and has been maintaining concentration on the moonbeam spell, ready to redeploy it if necessary.

"Sure, I'll hold your rope." He says, putting out a hand absently as you talk. "My name is Niikag. And you really should place your lot with someone. Out here your fancy Queen is hardly more than a distant farce of power.  Nobody around here even cares about her."

He doesn't really seem to be showing any interested in your rope trick.  But he's willing to go along. 

As soon as Flynt makes a full circuit he speaks the ropes command word.

DEX DC(15) or be restrained.

(DEX Save: 15)

Niikag is restrained suddenly as the rope magically entangles him.  He looks angrily at Flynt. "What have you done!"  He appears as though he's going to cast a spell. 

(We can resume initiative, starting with Flynt.) 

Flynt draws Betsy and fires 3 times. 

Attack: 23 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.

Attack: 24 Damage: 7

Attack: 20 Damage: 7

With the last hit Flynt invokes his fire rune. The creature takes 8 fire damage and must make a STR DC (12) check or be restrained by fiery shackles.

"I told you it was a trick." 

Elyria fires an arrow at the ogre mage.
Longbow: 25 Damage: 7
She then switfly hides again.
Bonus action Stealth: 11


(Forgot earlier but Freke and Gere would have disappeared when Elyria used her Faerie fire spell. Not used to playing a druid.)

(Assuming a full minute has not passed since he first cast the spell) Aurelius will use his action to move the moonbeam directly over the Oni. (If a creature starts its turn there, it is engulfed in ghostly flames and must take 4 radiant damage, DC 15 CON save for half damage, shapechangers have disadvantage).

(I would say 2 rounds passed after Flynt's successful charm spell and restraining Niikag.) 

(STR Save: 7; CON Save: 18)

Two of Flynt's shots hit and Niikag is restrained by fiery shackles from the rune. Elyria's arrow hits and the moonbeam once again focuses down on him.  

Struggling to make the necessary motions, Niikag then casts Sleep (21)

 The spell does not affect anyone. 

(Flynt is up again) 

Flynt rips off three more shots. Unlike his prior strike he uses his sharpshooter skills to target more vital areas, or at least those places that look vulnerable.

Attack: 20 Damage: 15

Attack: 18 Damage: 17

Attack: 20 Damage: 18

In addition at the start of the creatures turn it will take 9 fire damage. It can STR(DC 12) at the end of its turn.

Aurelius maintains his concentration on the spell as he closes to melee range, wielding his flaming longsword.  Remembering that his companion wished to question the ogre mage, the paladin will be careful not to deal a death blow, using the pommel of his sword if necessary to render the foul creature unconscious.

"Not so easy to run away now, is it, Betrayer?  I have lain awake many a night since we last met, plotting my revenge!"

First longsword Attack: 22 Damage: 8 magical slashing damage + 10 fire damage

Second longsword Attack: 25 Damage: 10 magical slashing damage + 7 fire damage

Elyria fires another arrow at Niikag, in the leg this time. (Nonlethal damage if possible)
Longbow: 23 Damage: 8
She then swiftly hides again.
Bonus action Stealth: 9

All of Flynt's shots hit and both of Aurelius' blows followed by Elyria's arrows.  Niikag falls to the ground.
