Stormraider Keep (A M.E.T.A.L. Campaign)

"And what exactly are your wishes Niikag?" Elyria asks the ogre mage.

"The Raiments of Nature.  I'm not sure that I know exactly.  But the histories say the wielder can command the land and all that lives and grows upon it as far as can be seen." Niikag says, answering Flynt. To Elyria he says, "What do I want? Ah, to be a part of Lady Sylmare's glorious victory.  When her kingdom grows and she controls all she sees, then I will be closest advisor.   Frankly, it is a position you too might have had if you and your friends would be more willing partners."

He then looks at all of you. "So, are there more questions? Must we sit here talking all day?"

"Yes, but you said that I seemed to be playing right along with your wishes. What exactly did you mean by that?" Elyria continues.

"What do you suppose I meant?" Niikag says a bit arrogantly. "Getting that amulet. Heading off to defeat Lady Leilatha. It all helps us." 

Aurelius shakes his head and cuffs the captive's ear, hard enough to cause pain but no damage.

"Your usefulness to us expires when you run out of information.  Choose carefully, Betrayer."

Intimidation (at advantage) 23

"So what was your mission here exactly Niikag? And are you saying the amulet would somehow force me to get the amulet and to defeat Leilatha if I decided I wouldn't?" Elyria continues.

"The amulet won't, but we have other ways."  Niikag says cryptically. He begins to cast a spell.

(Initiative again - given the circumstance you might have a chance to stop him.)

(Well I had to drop the fiery shackles or it would have killed him so technically he might be able waggle fingers and his voice works so spell casting would be possible.)

(Restrained makes movement zero but target can make attacks at disadvantage. So I would say it does not prevent somatic portion of spells.)

(Flynt then Elyria may react before the oni casts.)

Still concentrating on the Faerie fire spell (giving her allies advantage on attacks on Niikag) Elyria readies a Dispel Magic spell to counter any spell the ogre mage uses.

Flynt unleashes a couple of punches aimed at making the oni loose its concentration.

He invokes his Giants might on a hit adding 5.

Attack: 20 Damage: 2

Attack: 8 Damage: 2

(Niikag CON Save: 20, for concentration) 

Flynt's first punch is ineffective, but the second strikes Niikag.  However, he is able to shrug off the blow and would still be able to cast.

(NOTE: Readying a spell requires concentration, so you cannot both keep concentrating on Faerie Fire and ready Dispel Magic. Flynt attacked first, so it was still in effect then.  Also, being restrained gives advantage to attacks as well.  Given this information, Elyria will have to decide whether to keep the action or change it.) 

Hm, Elyria quickly loosens another arrow instead then, in the leg, of the ogre mage.

Elyria's arrow hits Niikag. And again he is able to keep concentration on his attempt to cast a spell.  The oni, along with everything on him, is transformed into a misty cloud as he casts Gaseous Form.  The cloud float 10 ft. up into the air. 

(Flynt and Aurelius would each get an AoO, then it is Aurelius' turn.) 

(I suppose the faerie fire still lights up the cloud. Elyria will use her next action to cast Dispel Magic then.)

Aurelius' AoO:

Dagger Attack: 23 Damage: 6 nonmagical slashing

The paladin will cast compelled duel as a bonus action on the Oni, followed by two beams of eldritch blast as an action.

First blast Attack: 27 Damage: 10 magical force

second blast Attack: 25 Damage: 8 magical force
