Stormraider Keep (A M.E.T.A.L. Campaign)

"No, she's quite dead now." Elyria says to Aurelius before continuing to check the body for interesting items. "She had some interesting things on her." She says, showing what she found to Aurelius and Flynt.

She would also taste the potions and check the scroll, or do whatever she could to determine what they do.

She would then move around and check the other bodies.

She would also send the Air Elemental to check on Yoë and bring her down to them.

Elyria has no idea about the candles and feather charm.  They both appear to be magical. The potions are both the same, Potion of Healing (Superior). And when you look through the scroll in the scroll case it is a Guardian of Nature spell.  

A short time later, Yoë follows the Air Elemental back down into the canyon to join you. "Wow! I'm so glad you guys are ok. That was a HUGE explosion?  What in the world was that?"  She looks over at the body of the hag. "This is Lady Leilatha? How can you be sure?"  She again studies the body. "It looks nothing like her."  

(The Air Elemental is probably soon nearing the end of its 1-hour duration.) 

"Any idea on what this could be?" Elyria asks Aurelius and Flynt, showing them the candles and the feather charm, also handing them a potion each, hanging on to the scroll for now.

"Oh, we're sure." Elyria says grimly to Yoë. "She had a good disguise though."

"No, perhaps it aided her disguise?"

Yoë, standing nearby, say, "I think I've seen those candles before. It was something that one of the alchemists was working on. It was... kinda creepy work. I stayed away." She thinks a moment, "Oh, and I think that feather was something Rahkeshi was interested in. She always pretended she wasn't, but I think she'd mentioned it to me one time."  

She suddenly kind of jumps, "Oh! My goodness, Lady Leilatha is defeated! We can go see Keshi! We can get her out of there!"  She seems ecstatic at the thought.

"Wait, a feather, could it be the feather that is a part of the Raiments of Nature?" Elyria says excitedly, looking to Flynt for confirmation.

"Yes, yes now finally we go for Rahkeshi." Elyria says and gives Yoë a quick hug in her excitement.

"I wonder if Rahkeshi realizes her bond is broken?" says Aurelius.  "It might be easier for her to sneak out of the fortress than for us to sneak in."

"Yes, you might be right Aurelius. I could send Aelric to her to find out." Elyria says with a nod to the glamorous half-elf.

(Being an Outlander Elyria might have a good sense of whether Yoë's secret cottage would be on the way to Lady Leilatha's fortress.)

(It would be farther to the hidden cottage than to Leilatha's fortress. So not on the way. Flying it is perhaps a couple hours out of the way)

OCC: I'm back, though I should have stayed, thanks for being patient. Yes Flynt took the shots with the intention to kill Leilatha. Being confident in his skills with the crossbow the fact tha Aurelius was close by wouldn't have detered him. Because of his pragmatic nature He was more concerned with seeing her dead than with who dealt the killing blow especially in the heat of battle. Besides, He never really believed in the custom that was holding Rakeshi prisoner.

So no retcon needs to be done let's just assume the air elemental brought him down with Zoë.  As for the rainments, I don't know how much Flynt knows about it other than he was supposed to find the armor currently on loan to Zoë. I'll do an arcana check anyway. 16

Well done everyone! Well executed. My apologies for not holding the killing blow. I felt it prudent to end the fight as quickly as possible. Fear not for as of now I release Rahkeshi and any others who might have also been beholden to Leilatha from their vows and servitude. But that does beg the question, How do we prove she is dead? Zoë I know you didn't recognize her at first sight but is there something distinctive that identifies her now that you have had a better look? We should check the other bodies as well. " 

Flynt takes a good look at the feather to see if it fits in with the rainments as well as checking the other bodies for anything that maybe of use.

Perception: 16

Flynt recalls Nesbin - the gnome with bright pink hair and clothing of mismatched shades of bright green - and the words he told him: "It is a whole set: armor, cloak, crown, boots, staff, umm..."  He consults the notes for a moment, "Bracelet, amulet, and feather charm." 

There is also the compass he was given...

Yoë considers the question about identifying the dead hag as Leilatha. "Well, she really did not look like that at all!  I guess she always had that circlet on her head. Silvery looking with an etched design. It would certainly be recognizable."

There is of course no such circlet present on the hag.

"Well, she was incapacited and without allies." Mutters Elyria but then lets it go. "I suppose we can bring the head of the hag and some personal belongings, like the feather and those candles, but I don't think we need to prove to Rahkeshi she is dead, she'll take my word for it. Still, I suppose it would be good to convince Lady Leilatha's followers she was in fact a hag and that Lady Sylmare is one too. Maybe we can even find allies against Lady Sylmare." Elyria says to Flynt and Aurelius. "Either way I think we should move on Lady Leilatha's fortress now. I can send Aelric with a message." She continues. "Yoë, can you show us the way? Do you think Lady Leilatha's followers in her fortress can be convinced she was a hag, that we killed her and that they should join us in fighting her hag sister Sylmare?" 

(Elyria tries to recall if she saw that circlet on Leilatha before the explosion. She also tries to recall if they have worked out whether her medallion could be one of the parts of the Raiments of Nature.)

Given reactions of Flynt's compass in the past, it seems unlikely the medallion is part of the Raiments of Nature.

You all seem to recall a circlet before the attack.

"The circlet, either it was destroyed by the blast, or stolen by the betrayer, or it is still around somewhere here." Elyria says starting to look around for it.
Perception: 8 Aelric perception: 21

Aurelius will aid in the search for the missing circlet, moving rubble.  "We should move soon, she may have had allies nearby."

Investigation 13

It takes a while searching, but amongst the scattered rocky debris, you find the circlet.  It seems to be made of silvery metal and etched with an odd design. 

"Hey, found it!" Elyria says, holding up the silver circlet to show the others. "Any idea if it's magic?"

You can generally sense some magic. (That's about it barring some other action.)

Flynt agrees with Elyria assessment and desire to get to Leilathas castle. He takes out the.compass. Holding it up he says "Not sure if it will work with the armor Zoë is wearing nearby. Nesbin didn't tell me how to change targets or if it's even possible. But I'm happy to try any suggestions." He continues his search of the.rest of the bodies. He's looking for the usual items but he's specifically looking for proof that the battle was fought and won without having to remove e bodyparts.
