The lithe Ranador manages to duck under the tentacles and swat them away, the barbed ends spearing into the side of the boat instead, but the creature dips down and chomps him in the shoulder and he cries out in pain as he goes limp, blood running down his pale skin all over the deck of the boat.
Galingal, surprised initially by the appearance of the beaked creature, he doesn't react fast enough to stop the monstrosity from slashing out.
He recovers quickly and leaps forward. Galingal is sure the others will be distracted by the boy being down. Stena and Buppido have both become attached to him. They may be compromised so they'll need to put this creature down as quickly as possible.
Galingal throws his hand forward, yelling "ohjauspultti". When he does, he feels the raven on his face grow warm and then energy races down his arm and out his finger tips. A flash of light leaps forth aiming straight for the beaky ball.

An arrow zips out of the darkness, the creature seemingly reacting to the projectile before it was loosed, but is still not able to evade Stena's attack.
Buppido moves to stand over Ranador's fallen form, slashing at it with his shortsword.

Lia says to Stena, “Thanks… It’s no bother. I can see he is precious to you… Like Neth to me… We’re an unlikely bunch thrown together, but we can take care of each other as best we can while we’re here…”. She smiles and then frowns, as she suddenly thinks of the rest of the crew, left in the fish-village, and the others lost along the way. She tries to smile back at Stena…
The boats a bit dinged up, but the hull didn't take any hits, so it's still about as structurally sound as it has been. You continue onward (swapping crews?) until you're all tired and in need of rest, with no other major hazards or encounters.

Stena wills herself back into view and moves over to Ranador and Lia. To the boy she says quietly, if not exactly soothingly in undercommon,
"Ye best head below and rest up lad. We'll keep a watch up here. "
To Lia she's says,
"Aye've translated for ye." Then after a tick, "and thank ye for healing him."
After Ranador heads below she casts a wary glance up before heading to check the damages to the floating heap they're riding on.
