Sylvio again launches himself into the fray, quickly dashing south 15 feet to pause next to sweeps.“Die again-a you pile of-a shit!” He uses his momentum to drive the booming scimitar across the undead’s flesh, continues the momentum into a full turn and comes around with his short sword in the other hand to pierce the flesh before rolling to his left and dodging to the East 15 feet with his fancy footwork.
21 Scimitar attack for 7 slashing damage and 4 thunder damage. His short sword strikes 11 for 5 piercing damage. With Sunny being in Melee if either attack hits he also adds 8 extra sneak attack damage.
As Amadi prepares for action his are drawn towards the chained humanoid. Just, instead of the red figure covered in steel, the disciple of Gond sees a woman. Hair white and gray, pale blues, skinny face marked by lines of expression. So familiar, so… Warm. A feeling of longing and sadness flood his chest as a myriad of memories appear on his mind. Her voice, her smile, the gentle touch of her hand. It was not possible. She could not be standing there. Yet she was, opening her arms. Brightflame close his eyes, shake his head and looks again. Her eyes lose color, her skin starts to tear and slide from her flame, her mouth opens, stretches unnaturally until the mandible falls to the ground. Her trembles, convulses and he shudders. Fear, fright, posses his very being.
Sylvio, by his hand, advances against the undead closest to him. His first strike missing the mark, while the second reaches the target. The integrity of the misshapen form of the undead falters, clearly losing stability, but holds still.
Notes: The map in the Roll20 game is now up to date. The purple mark represents the exact area fro where the crow come. In case of doubt, as always, feel free to as in the OOC chat.
@Everyone, the chained figure is looking really, really rough (a single attack may be enough to kill him). The undead close to Sylvio is quite hurt, but not far from half health. @Gruba, it is now Gabriel's turn. @Paladin, Amadi is frightened and you can post his turn after Gabriel's.
Amadi nearly dropped his hammer at the sight of his mother. How could this be? She's been dead for so many years! His heart raced and sweat began to pour over his face as the feelings of loss and remembering washed over him.
And then the visage changed and the horror of the creature came into view. He steeled himself as the chained creature tried to frighten with the image of his mother melting away. But the warmth of the memory of his mother filled him and he gripped his hammer anew.
"You fail monster in your attempts to use my fears against me. You will be defeated."
Lunging forward he raises his hammer high to bring it down on the creature again.
Attack: 13 Damage: 13
((Unfortunately for the DM, Amadi is immune to the frightened condition due to the armor he wears. Mind Carapace Plate
Whether it was the distraction from the visage of his mother or something else Amadi's first strike did not connect. With a surge of action he brings the hammer around again to try and finish off the chain creature.
As terror creeps over his body Amadi feel a literal warm combating it. He takes solace on the memory of his mother while his magic armor fend of the fear, leaving nothing but ire. For having his memory trampled, his feelings about the most important person on his life violated. Taking a deep breath, he focuses all of his strength, tapping on the utmost limits of his stamina, accelerating his regeneration. He advances at full speed in the direction of the chained humanoid.
With righteous fury Anvilfist is raised to the air and brought down against the infernal creature. Nimble, the devil evades the attack and Brightflame can see his eyes glint in malice and stifaction, as if mocking the disciple of Gond for failing to reach him. Determined to defeat the enemy, the warrior cleric pushes himself further beyond, forcing a second strike so suddenly that the man in chains cannot avoid it.
On the other side of the battlefield Sunny cast her eyes against the undead in front of her, repeating her storm of swords. Her first slash hits, the second strays from the target and the third is so perfect that one could not be blamed to think of it as a dance move. Precise, flowing, fast, full of grace and beauty. It looked effortless, almost as if ranger and monster had rehearsed that particular strike. Close by, Sylvio notices that shakes the mountain of corpses stability considerably. It couldn’t be much longer from falling apart.
Gabriel, for his part, starts to working on the stone covering the ground in front of him when a dark smoke raises from the ground. It encompasses him for but a moment, causing a sensation he was, sadly, familiar with. The sickning touch of death he first feel on Gundwynd Vila. The crow raises in the skies once again, focusing his eyes in Sunny's direction.
Notes: The DM I is happy the frightened condition didn't take hold since he won't need to play the animated chains is rooting for his excellent players. The map in the Roll20 game is now up to date. @Everyone, the chained figure is dead. The undead close to Sylvio is quite hurt, below half health. @Paladin, considering how personally the chained devil attacked Amadi I think this is only fair: How do you want to do this? @Gruba, roll me an Athletics Check, DC 10. @Gunner, it is now Sweeps turn.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sweeps watches the chained figure fall, then turns his attention to the nearest undead creature, attacking in hopes of giving Gabriel additional time to find the box. He moves up to the mass of rotten flesh and attacks twice, swinging his maul recklessly.
Amadi's hammer smashed into the face of the figure in chains, the face the creature had so violently tried to stain the memory of his mother to him. The bones and structure of the skull cracked under the pressure of Anvilfist as the head broke apart. The body fell to the ground, its head nearly cleaved off and left as an unrecognizable pile of mush.
Gabriel craves the blade of his daggers on the crevasses between the stones of the pavement, trying to use the weapon as leer to pull it from the ground where it was all but the certain the kotoribako was buried. He struggles to stick the steel deep enough, but is sure he will be able to, in due time.
The headless corpse of the figure in chains hit the ground heavy and Amadi feels the sense of victory, of accomplishment, as its form dissipates into a dark ichor that almost instantly disappears. The disciple of Gond remembers that devilkin doesn’t really die in the material plane. They return to the Hell where they come from. That was not a problem. If that one ever tried to face him again, Brightflame would defeat him.
Sweeps strikes the mountain of cadavers in front of him with ease. Both of the strikes of his mace hitting true, splattering the horrid stench of the exanimate that, on its turn, flail the lumps of flesh that in its misshapen form passed by arms. On the other side of the battlefield the last undead mimicked its, so to speak, companion, attacking Sunny.
Notes: Nice description, Paladin. The map in the Roll20 game is now up to date. The purple mark represents the exact area fro where the crow come. In case of doubt, as always, feel free to as in the OOC chat.
@Everyone, the undead close to Sweeps is still quite well. The undead close to Sylvio is quite hurt, below half health. @Althax, it is now Sylvio's turn. @Gruba, you can also post Gabriel's turn. This round he manages to take out the stones an Chewy can start digging. Roll me a d10. @Paladin, you can post Amadi's turn. It will take place after Sylvio's and Gabriel's though. @Gunner, roll me a Constitution Save throw (I should have asked before the start of your turn, but forgot. Mea culpa). DC 14.
Gabriel focuses all his efforts on digging, helping Chewy until he can see something that might have a link to the evil crow. Once/if found, he will try to destroy it/them with whatever seems most appropriate - dagger blade, dagger hilt or eldritch blast.

87Sylvio’s breath comes in gasps as he continues his assault. The dashing in and out of range, the wounds, and the horrifying burial in flesh are taking its toll on him. He quickly spits some blood to the side, adjusts his grip on the scimitar and short sword, and dashes forward once more to assist Sunny.
With blades at the ready, Sylvio lightly moves into position south of the creature flanking with Sunny and unleashes his attack with the booming scimitar and then follows up with his short sword before dancing away to the East again.
22 for 6 slashing damage and 3 thunder damage. The short sword strikes 26 for 6 piercing damage. He also inflicts sneak attack damage of 5
Amadi has little time to revel in the death of the chain creature. More undead still attack and he quickly turns his attention to the one close by, Whirling around with his hammer he strikes with Anvilfist at the undead monster.
Attack: 12 Damage: 16
Additionally he adjusts his postioning so that Sweeps can gain the advantage in the creature as they can out flank it. (Moved 5 ft north, reflected at Roll20)
Sweeps feel a sickening feeling taking hold of his body. The horrid stench of the undead in front of him suddenly becomes unbearable. His eyes tearing, his nostrils and throat burning. His arms feel heavy, his head heavier yet. It was a feverish sensation accompanied by cramps. The pain makes the genasi grin his teeth.
Gabriel, on his part, focus his attentions on removing the stones of the street, so Chewy can dig the cursed box. An impressive feat, considering that the giant crow was literally over his head, although not for long. As if compelled by an obsession the creature advances. The adventurers recognize easily that his target is, once again, Sunny.
As soon as enough stones are removed by the aasimar, the mastiff starts his excavation. Unbelievably fast, the beast uncovers a puzzle box, made of wood. Bryte feels in his bones – that is the Kotoribako. He strikes with his Eldritch Blast, but it has no apparent effect.
Amadi makes his hammer fall against the closest remaining undead. His strike just manages to hit true and sends decomposing flash through the air. The misshapen pile of corpses is visibly shaken, its integrity compromised. How much the follower of Gond have no time to discover, for the monstruous crow once again enters his reach, no doubt in direction to his tortle friend.
Sylvio smartly positions himself in such a manner that he can flank the undead he was facing. Thunder and steel cut through the enemy who seems to almost crumble under the precise attacks of the rogue. Still, it remains standing, and the swashbuckler retreats beyond its reach. At least until Sunny makes her move. Her second attack goes wide, but the other two connect, the third one finishing the exanimate. Seeing it die again, the beastmaster advances her full speed towards her companions. Maybe it was confidence that Amadi would stop the crow, maybe it was simple bravery

Gabriel moves to the spot where he saw the crow originate, waving Chewy over as he lands softly on the hard road. "Come on, let's get in here!"
Seeing the hard road, Gabriel uses his dagger to scrape at the surface and tries to dig down, looking for whatever spawned the evil spirit.
