Gabriel tries to keep unseen as the party moves, scanning for danger as he goes. He wonders what the winged creatures could be, wracking his memory for any information.
Sylvio moves towards the walls, hiding in the shadows and casting his eyes to the best. It takes him but the briefest of moments to identify it. Front of an eagle, hind of a horse, a hippogriff. A best Gundwynd was known to breed and sell. One carrying a rider. Rick’s words came to mind. Pursuers from the nobles. Maybe that was the reason the party was not openly accused. If the city’s military caught you then you would be subject to the law and your enemies didn’t want justice. They wanted vengeance.
Sweeps voiced his guess, quite close to reality, and attest to an undeniable truth. It was time to move. Amadi and Gabriel try to do so silently, the disciple of Gond with less success than the follower of Lathander. Both identify the nature of the beast and remember a thing more. One of the Gundwynd had founded the Black Boar Tribe, a mercenary group that offered protection at reasonable prices but also acted as bouncers for the coin. They are a dangerous gang and if their fights with the Bulk Elk was any indication they had no qualms with unsavory business. The thought of a Boar provided with flying mounts was far from good. The party is being hunted and the hunters are going for the kill.
Sunny also seeks discretion when Chewy gives a bark. The mastiff points his head to a corner of the street, some thirty-five feet behind the party. The ranger is fast to identify a hooded figure, clad in grey, watching them.
Notes: In case of doubt feel free to ask in the OOC chat.
@Althax, @Paladin, @Gruba. Your characters identify that the strange flying creature is an hipogriff and have a rider. @Gruba and @Pladin. Your characters remember that the Gundwynd have connections with a violent, infamous gang of Waterdeep, the Black Boars. @Jynne. Chewy notices a strange, hooded figure 35ft behind the party.
@Everyon. What your character do? Do your characters share the information they uncovered? Do you move stealthy to avoid the hipogriff or do you ran to evade the hooded figure? (To move stealthy you will need to move slowly).
Sunny moves briefly closer to the others and whispers, "Friends, we are being watched too. 35 feet behind, Ranger I think. Hooded in Grey. Perhaps our streetwise friend should direct us through the city as he did before?" She attempts to remain as stealthy as a 450 lg, 6' Tortle can be.
Amadi nods. "The beast above is a hippogriff. The Gundwynd had founded the Black Boar Tribe, a mercenary group that offered protection at reasonable prices but also acted as bouncers for the coin. I would wager they have given them access to the air. We are hunted by some of the best at doing just that. We should stick to the more covered streets and alleys."
"Let's make haste. If it's really that important, I imagine our green cloaked friend will have to decide how important tracking us really is. I don't want to be here when those beasts arrive." Sunny offers.
Sweeps covers his eyes with one hand as he squints in the sky, trying to make out the flying creature. He grunts at Amadi as they mention the Black Board tribe “Mercenaries. Explains why the guard is not after us, the family would like to make things more … final. Stay close, I can help us remain out of sight.”
Placing his hand on the ground, he mutters to himself and a swirl of dust and silence surrounds the group.

Noticing pursues on earth and sky, the party is of one mind that they need to move discretely. With the help of both Sylvio and Sweeps you navigate the backstreets of the Sea Ward. Soon enough you find yourselves free of prying eyes, your inconspicuous figures, save from the blood and dirt in your clothes, dissipates into the myriad of faces walking through the city. A crowd ever growing the further south you walk. The Market, all of you know. Largest open space in the Crown of the North, surrounded by stone buildings that enclose a true maze of temporary stalls and carts that appear there day and night. It rested halfway between North, Sea and Castle Ward, the last of which held your destination.
That was a good thing, all of you can understand. The more people the harder it was for anyone to find you. Even to those who tried from aboveground. But the keener eyes of you notice another side to the fact. The number of guards increased the further south you went, not that any of them seemed to pay any mind to you. As far as anyone can tell they are just your run of the mill soldier working normally. If there was anything strange, besides the eventual hippogriff rider perusing over the buildings, was the fact that you could spot the well-armed men of the City Guard. Every single of you live in the Waterdeep for long enough to know that thew only guard the walls and important buildings. What could they be doing there?
Notes: Lunch time is getting closer and you are still on the Sea Ward, but close to the Market (about half-way to the Castle). Those of you with at least 16 Passive Perception notice the presence of three men of the City Guard. Those who know about the presence of these men can roll a Perception Check DC 18. If you decide to have your character keep moving, roll another Stealth Check. Tell me if you want any specification about the route the party takes (any street/monument/area you want to pass by). As always, in case of any question feel free to ask on the OOC.
@DM What PP score did we need to notice? Sunny and Chewy have a 16. If that is sufficient where are we noticing them? Just about?
Those of you with at least 16 Passive Perception notice the presence of three men of the City Guard.
If you have the 16 and notice THEN you can roll perception
Amadi had grown up in the city, he knew it well. Why was the City Guard in the streets? Waterdeep’s streets are policed by the City Watch. He quickly told this to the others. "This concerns me. The Guard is normally not in the streets, that is the job of the Watch. Are they imposters? Or is there more going on? I feel the need to get off the streets for some time, clean up and rest. We are still in the Sea Ward. I say we make our way to the House of Inspired Hands. It is the temple to Gond where I am a cleric. We can clean up, get some food and rest and be out of the streets for some time."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sweeps picks out the members of the city guard just as Amadi remarks on their presence “That is odd, what are they doing here?”Sweeps remarks in agreement and takes a second look to determine what they are doing in the market. Perception: 19.
“The temple is a wise choice, let's clean up before we go to meet the Captain. Maybe hear some more word about what is going on in the city.” Sweeps follows the others to the temple, trying not to draw the attention of the guards. Stealth: 8.
