As Triäsa's melody concludes the 50 ravens descend from their perches and former a strange death shawl on top of the nameless women. In unison their claws grab her clothing and skin and they lift her off the ground and take her body higher into the mountain.
One of the ravens breaks off from the flock, Daventry's hat in its talons. She drops it unceremoniously at Daventry's feet. It the flies off with the others.
You all move to the chalet. It provides adequate but not comfortable coverage from the elements. Getting the gnome to shelter is a struggle. She is too weak to stand but thankfully she is a gnome and small and so can carry her with little effort.
Once inside Klin evaluates her condition finds it very odd. There are no bruises or injuries. In fact she looks completely unharmed. She moans incomprehensibly and tosses as she does. Your best guess is there is something wrong with her mind or the like. Klin you also note during your examination her only possession is necklace, a gold book pendant on a thin gold chai .
The rest of your night is uneventful you are free to take a long rest and do what you will for the night. Also...
Congrats! Welcome to level 4 go ahead and update your sheets!!!
You all rest and recover for the night. Your slumbers are oddly peaceful as you have grown accustomed to nightmares and worse on this mountain. Your only point of distress throughout the evening is the constant tossing and turning from the gnome. She appears tormented, sweating profusely despite the cold mountain air.
As the sun rises on the next morning you all feel better than you have in a long time. Something about spending time near the thinning of the veil perhaps but you feel infused with a new, raw power.
The question now remains what will you do with that power and where do you go from here?

Ludolf had quickly drifted off into sleep against the ruined wall. He wakes up next morning and quickly checks around the chalet, sending Edgar out to scout. Edgar perception: 4 He then sits down outside the chalet in the morning sun, eating a ration or possibly one of Pardot's berries. Unless anything more pressing comes up he would then see to Fistandia. Assuming her state has not changed he uses his enlightened mind to enter hers, trying to study her thoughts in order to find clues on how to stop the behatted shadow and how to wake her up. (Detect thoughts)
You spend a few hours that night looking at the strange eyeball ring. It seems to glare past you as if it can see beyond you. Finally you slip it onto your finger and realize it's purpose and abilities. Ring of X-ray Vision
Before the night is up, Daventry offers the ring to either Triasa or Ludolf. "Seems like the sort of thing that would greatly help in finding the truth of a place, be it secret passages or hidden items. Though I'd watch how often you use it... seems pretty draining."
Probably will help the Scoobee Doo Crew a bit more than me, with your +lots to Investigation.
Triäsa gets quickly to sleep as does most everyone else. Up early, she is there immediately when Ludolf awakens. "So? Where did you go? What happened with you? All we saw was you jumped in the grave and suddenly the grave was filled in. Edgar just disappeared!" (Not sure if he was dispelled or just dismissed to the pocket dimension. The later seems more likely.)
"Yes, I apologize Triäsa, I was weary from the harrowing experince. I can't tell you of everything I witnesssed though. Suffice to say it was a nightmarish journey into the Far Realm as I suspected. I woke up in a desolate landscape but managed to will myself a far distance to a white domed building. When I got there the building was in ruins though. I found Fistandia there, barely concious. She said the words home and rebuild. I decided to try to rebuild the ruined building we were in as horrendous entities approached from all directions. As it was rebuilt I found a gold sarcophagus and took Fistandia with me in it and then we were transported back. You know the rest. That is all you need to know Triäsa. Now what happened on your end exactly?" Ludolf asks.
Daventry speaks up from where she sits in the morning, waving around her silver blade, with a chunk of an apple still on it, as she speaks.
"So. You went into the mists, and Edgar popped out of existance. I figured shit had gone poorly... tried to come in after you with Thavol's rope to rescue. But the grave filled before gravity had its effect on me... and found I could go nowhere."
She takes a bite of apple.
"The woman of the ravens then came down to talk to us. She said they were planar guardians, watching and defending against anything from THAT end..." she points the dagger at Ludolf, "coming to THIS side. We had a chat, I might have been a bit mad they didn't warn us about the Meenlocks first, or the grave, or a bunch of stuff. Then Mr. Shadow showed up. He was cryptic, sure, but I know a shakedown. He wanted that cube we found, and held your life as collateral..."
She sighs. "He obviously wanted a display of power, so he struck down the raven-woman where she stood, even though she had no skin in the game... the ravens had heard of others ranting about this guy and his portals to the Far Realm... the Brantifaxes and Fistandia, before climbing willingly into graves. We gave up the cube, and he started his second game - find the mage in the graveyard before he suffocates..."
A second chunk of apple disappears. "So yeah, think that catches you up." Daventry considers her hat, resting on the edge of the table. "She liked my hat. I bet we could have been friends, in the end."she says to no one in particular.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Giving his friend one of the berries he cast the night before and listening to his story Pardot notes, "It seems time is different across the planes as well. Here you were gone only a very short time. Certainly not long enough to rebuild anything."Then looking towards the gnome says, "I did prepare some restoration magick again today, though I am not sure if it will have much effect."
flat roll: 19 - arcana +2; medicine +5... not sure what it would be to know if Lesser Restoration would/might work on the poor gnome. I've prepared it regardless for the day. If Pardot thinks it might (even if he's wrong) it's safe to assume he tries to cast it
@Ludolf -- The gnome's mind is a chaotic and disturbed place. Her thoughts are filled with the horrors of the place you just escaped. Tentacles with eyeballs and mouths, worm like creatures flying through a horrible orange sky. You think you catch glimpses of the Man in Black at the periphery of her thoughts but then it's gone. Edgar scouts the sky. It's a beautiful clear day. He does not see any dangers on the mountain path.
@Pardot -- From your knowledge of life and healing you know that madness/insanity is generally beyond your magics to heal. Similarly, if it were some sort of curse you are pretty sure it would not be helped by your magics. While you can always try I think you would feel rather pessimistic about the chance of this working.

(So, I guess I'm a bit behind. Time has just kind of moved along with a few disconnected pieces.)
Whenever Daventry approaches Triäsa and Ludolf about the ring, she would ask what it does. She would offer for Ludolf to take it if he wished, but otherwise would put it to good use.
Whenever she manages to ask Ludolf about what happened... "Can't or won't tell me?" Triäsa says as Ludolf begins his tale. She goes from eagerly wanting to hear Ludolf's story to mildly irritated fairly quickly. And then as he ends up, "Oh! That's all I NEED to know, is it? And you know what I need do you?" She rapidly turns her back on him muttering in Elvish. (see below) She continues out of the chalet where they had spent the night and continues for nearly 10 minutes before she stops.
For those that speak Elvish:
She basically curses him using a few choice words of anatomy that would not be spoken in polite company and imagining rather painful things happening to them.
(I presume Ludolf checked with Fistandia after that? Not sure - maybe he did that first and then Triäsa caught with him later?)
If she ends up with the ring, Triäsa will stay and attune to it wherever she stops. She'll try to find a tree to sit and lean against, or perhaps a larger boulder or something.
Daventry will follow Triäsa. Finding her leaning against a bit of terrain, she sits down next to her friend. "I don't speak the language of elves, Tri... but I know a long and detailed string of curses when I hear it."From her pack, she pulls a waterskin she had stored away, though instead of water it's full of a nice wine she bought in the tavern in Mieran. She takes a long drag, then hands the container to Triäsa. "There's plenty of curses I've had for those I care about, when they disappoint me. I won't pry... but if you need a partner to rant at, I'm not going anywhere."
Triäsa takes a deep breath, not having expected Daventry to follow. But she is not all that upset either. She takes the waterskin when offered and takes a drink and is then surprised that it holds wine. "Are all your waterskins like this one? If so, we need to hang out more," she says with a smile. "I am sorry about the cursing too. It is not like me."
She is quiet for a bit, seeming to collect her thoughts a moment before responding further. "Look, I'm just angry about what Ludolf said. No, angry about how he said it. I mean really? He's going to decide what I do and do not need to know?" She takes another drink from the waterskin then hands it back to Daventry. She sighs, "We had the same argument before he jumped in the grave - he just blew me off and decided he could go off and I could not. I hate that!" She shakes her head, "And... I was really scared he was not going to make it back."
She looks up at Daventry, near tears. But now as she talks, she seems to calm down a bit. "I would really miss him if something happened." She is quiet for a bit more, as though trying to make a decision. "Thanks, should we head back? Or would you like to finish off the wine first?"
(I will presume Triäsa does not attune to the ring, if she ended up with it, due to the conversation with Daventry.)
Daventry takes a long draw from the water-to-wineskin as Triäsa airs her grievances. "I get it. The most important thing I can have is my own agency - my ability to chart my own course, do what I view is best, keep the faith for what I hold dear."She makes eye contact with Triäsa. "Someone trying to claim my agency as their own? Yeah, I'd be pissed too. Especially if one loss begets another."She contemplates her bottle. "We came close to losing a friend today. Hells, every time I take up my sword and board, I feel a tingle in the back of my mind. If I'm a bit slow on a parry, or don't quite get the shield up in time, it wont be me that suffers. It'll be my friends. Keeps me in the fight, at least. Maybe that feeling can keep you fighting as well."
She continues conversing with Triäsa as they head back to the Chateau.
Thinking about it, and realizing that they likely have no choice but to carry the poor gnome back to Candlekeep, he heads outside and spends a bit of time shaping the snow and ice around into a frozen sled, onto which he places the bear pelts that he got from the cave a couple days ago for warmth and padding. Once it is ready he’ll head back in and say, “Is there more we need to do here? If not, we should attempt to hurry back to get her proper treatment. Hopefully my berry juice will keep her alive while we trek. I can keep the sled outside frozen for an hour, and then must re-freeze it, but that should not be difficult.”
Ludolf looks with sadness and despair on Triäsa as she berates him for not sharing all about the horrors that he witnessed in the Far Realm, and watching as she leaves in anger he again slumps to the ground against a wall. He sees Daventry follow Triäsa and decides he will wait with his explanation, if she would be prepared to listen.
Ludolf later listens to Daventry's recount of what transpired while he was away and nods. "So you traded the box for my life. I owe you all my life then, again."He says, but something troubles him. "I fear that might be a choice we will all have to regret eventually. Whatever the box meant to our nemesis I have a feeling we will find out eventually in some unpleasant way. Still, at least we have Fistandia here now. If we can find some way to bring her back to the realm of the sane I believe she be of great help."
"Unless we have some way to confront and deal with the behatted shadow I agree Pardot. Time to return to Candlekeep."Ludolf says and readies himself for the return trip.
(OOC: So what about Edgar, is he just in the pocket plane?)
(Edgar is with you I think I mentioned his scouting of the area in my last post but basically he did not see anything everything appears safe and quiet.)
