As Matreous walks back through the doors he turns and thanks you all again. You get a brief glimpse of the Inner Sanctum. It looks like a small city crammed behind the walls. There are trees and buildings which are dimly light by candles with more cobblestone walkways weaving between the tightly packed structures.
It sounds like you are all retiring for the evening to the House of Rest. You have already found rooms and settle in for a well deserved Long Rest. The next morning you get a note stating you will have tomes and books prepared for you by other scholars. The work may not be the highest quality until Matreous is back to strength but they will do their best. As an apology for the inconvenience as well as a thank you for finding Matreous your stay in Candlekeep has been extended from 2 to 4 tendays. It also includes 100gp for each of you for "Exceptional Services to the Avowed and Great Collection."
You now have some down time in Candlekeep. How would you spend your time? You will have things to read and study and the Avowed are happy to get you as much material on topics you have already requested or something new that might have come to mind. Would you spend time with each other or work on your own? Your only restriction is you must stay on the grounds as if you leave you would have to pay the price of re-entry. All of the Court of Air is available to you but if you try to gain access to the Inner Sanctum you would curtly turned away.
You would expect to be questioned regarding the Mansion and events though you have heard nothing yet.
Also if your activities are something you would want to keep private just DM me instead of posting it here.
Triäsa then heads back to her room along with the others. Before separating to go to their individual rooms, she comes up to Daventry. "Thank you again for watching out for me today. I appreciate it. And I look forward to you helping me with a bit of training."
Daventry gives Triasa a warm smile. "Happy to oblige. It's a hard world out there, and when you find good folk to stick with, you watch each other's backs and help them when you can. I'll see you at breakfast, yeah?"
As Daventry unlocks and heads inside her room, Triasa hears Daventry humming the tune she sang earlier.
Inside her room, after shedding her pack and blades, Daventry strips off her armor and down to her underclothes. She takes a long look at the brand on her arm in the mirror, wondering if the strange rune had changed during the day's events and if the searing pain had left any additional marks.
She removes the small key from her necklace and pulls the case from her pack, setting it on the desk and opening it. She sits cross-legged on her bed, and summons forth the spectral hand. Daventry floats the strange grimoire out of the case and into a hovering position in front of her. She spends the next few hours trying to decipher further meaning from the tome, studying by the soft blue glow of her magic, before succumbing to sleep.
Daventry begins a routine over the next several days.
She's always present at every meal served at the Hearth, particularly breakfast. It's quick to gather that the 100gp payout might be the most coin she's ever had at once, and she's enjoying the life that the single adventure has given her and, not so subtly, craves more.
At breakfast, she inquires about the subjects you all are working on, and notes when interests overlap for the day between some of you. She spends some time early on each day looking over the martial stances found in Fistandia's mansion, and has added "similar works regarding rapier and shield" to her list of requests to the Avowed. After lunch, during the heat of the day, she disappears to her own space in the Pillars, attempting to decipher her grimoire with the texts provided by the Avowed. Early in the evening, before dinner, she spends a few hours training with Triasa, who might be more suited to the staff and dagger techniques of the wizards (assuming Triasa is willing).
At night, she'll have found a casual place to enjoy a whiskey while staring at the stars, and does not turn away company or conversation. Once she retires, she spends more time pouring over the tome until sleep claims her once again.
(Depending on how her studies and the translation of the grimoire go, she might try to enlist the rest of you in helping out... at very least she's showed you the rubbings of the cover)
Triäsa nods to Daventry, "Definitely will catch you at breakfast." She then slips quietly into her room.
Once inside she hangs her cloak on a hook by the door and her lute goes next to it on another hook. She then undresses quickly, putting on a plain sleeping garment. Each item of clothing is folded neatly and put away. In little time she slips into her bed. She lies there for a while just going through the entire day, especially reminding herself that she is inside Candlekeep! Soon though she is asleep.
It's several hours past sunrise when she awakens. She tries to find a bit of water to splash on her face to wash. She then gets out her clothing, using Prestidigitation here and there to clean up any spots as necessary. Quickly she is dressed, grabbing cloak and lute, and heads for The Hearth. As Triäsa walks in, she looks about for Daventry, taking a seat with her. As they chat she agrees to join her each day before dinner for training. (OOC - Triäsa has a shortsword and dagger, though is open to working on other weapons if Daventry suggests.)
The first morning, Triäsa would want to look into getting a few things. First would be a pearl "worth at least 100 gp" that is usable for casting Identify. Now of course, she would like to spend LESS than 100 gp so she might try to negotiate a better deal if possible.
Second would be a ranged weapon of some sort - a light crossbow is probably the first idea, as that was suggested. But she is open to suggestions - especially as she as just 113 gp to her name. (And wants to but the pearl.) So she might consider a sling or maybe darts. (Or a shortbow if it's cheaper - though list price is same as light crossbow.)
Triäsa would then set up a routine:
Mornings at breakfast with Daventry (and whoever else joins).
She would then head to the Pillars to study whatever books are brought. She is happy to learn any more lore about interplanar travel. (She secretly would love to learn how to cast the spells to open a portal. And now she's rather interested in pocket planes.) But mostly she is interested in trying to find out what "Eteinrei" means (this is the unknown word she gleaned from her mother's writings). And get some idea of what happened with her mother.
Around midday grab a very light lunch and take a walk. Usually outside if the weather is fair. Inside if it is stormy. (Although one day she decides to walk around in the rain just because. Though she goes for a change of clothes after.) She would like to visit each area that they are able to access just to see it. And early on her list is to find a place to see the ocean because... well, she was fascinated from the glimpse as they arrived and just wants to see it more. After a brief brisk walk she tries to find somewhere secluded to just play her lute for a bit.
After the brief walk she goes back to studies.
Before dinner she meets Daventry and they practice.
And then dinner at The Hearth. She makes sure to meet any newcomers each evening. And now and then will play something on her lute. (She really prefers not to sing.) She will usually have some wine - nothing very expensice - and typically just one glass that seems to last her the evening. She is happy to listen to any others with a tale or other musicians if any are present. Typically she sticks to The Hearth, willing to stay up a little bit late. Though she quickly heads off to her room so she has time to rest and be up in the morning.
Pardot spends his research time looking for examples of bright stars which suddenly appeared in the sky, only to fade out, and compare it with events that have happened soon after, over the course of the next few days. He recently saw one behind the Crown and is trying to determine if there is any significance. During meal times he’ll often join with the others, though generally is quiet, happy to listen, occasionally talking of signs he’s seen behind the stars. If not recruited for any other task though, he’ll spend more time exploring the nooks and crannies of Candlekeep as a cat with Pocket, also watching the emerald door to see if a spider might be able to sneak in or not.
I think I’ll be a bit of a scout character here as well, so I kinda want to learn thieves tools, though don’t yet have a RP reason to do so during down time. We can work that out later~
Back at his sleeping quarters Ludolf at first lies down on his bed contemplating events since he arrived at Candlekeep. People could be so annoying, and yet he felt exhilarated over the company of the others this night. They were certainly different from him in many ways, but much to his surprise that seemed to make them that more interesting. Also they clearly shared some interests. He realizes he would appreciate continued relations with the others, but how did one do that when there was no longer an old grumpy elven scholar to rescue.
Somhow he was still not ready with this night so he returns to reading the tome with the annotations for a long while before meticulously doing preparations for bed. Ludolf dreams conflicting dreams of the horrors of the Far Realm and his newfound companions, not wanting for them the dark destiny that surely awaits him at the other side of the gate of his existence.
He wakes early, still troubled by his dreams and thoughts of the Far Realm. It was his destiny, was it not. It had been clear to him for so many years, and now coming closer than ever to his long time objective, he...hesitates. After cleaning himself up with magic and water he dresses and leaves his sleeping quarters for breakfast at the Hearth, hesitantly joining Daventry and Triäsa and anyone else present. He stays uncharacteristically quiet, making an effort to not complicate things with the service this morning, actually trying awkwardly to be polite and smooth things over from yesterday. Smooth over persuasion roll: 19 After a while he also tries making light conversation about topics like how everyone slept. His head hurts over these banalities but not nearly as much as he feared.
After breakfast Ludolf finds his way to the pillars of pedagogy, studying Fistandias tome until he recieves the books he ordered. Depending on what he gets he will focus on any grimoires regarding the Far Realm and after that just about anything regarding other planes of existence and how to travel there. He would take an occasional walk in the courtyard, trying to converse any of the others he runs into while doing so. At lunch and dinner at the Hearth he would try to find a place with the others, trying to be pleasant by asking them of their progress with their studies. If given the opportunity he would discuss planar rifts and gates with Triäsa and star constallations with Pardot. He would also take the opportunity to study the graceful movements of Daventry and Triäsa as the practice, staying way back to not disturb them. During conversations he will mention that he considers gold worldly matters and that he would gladly help anyone out with any purchases they were in need of. Finally in the evenings he would pay special attention whenever Triäsa would perform, whether by song or lute, quietly and discreetly shedding a tear over its beauty and over a life wasted in a grey and dusty library.
Ludolfs awakened mind now nearing the brink of insanity has made it possible for him to read all writing, which likely would help him immensely in his studies. (Eyes of the Runekeeper invocation.)

It is lunch time about week after your adventure in Fistandia's Mansion. The Hearth is packed full of scholars and Avowed. The room is brightly lit, there is music and laughter all around. You all have taken to eating together at night but today you all decided to take a bit of a break from your work and enjoy each others company slightly earlier. Even Klin put his quill down for the moment to join in the merriment. The first few nights you still had some trouble getting timely service but they have warmed back up to you and the ale, wine and food is flowing freely.

Ludolf has just finished his meal as he turns to Triäsa beside him. "There is a book I have been reading. It concerns the Vistani, a people blessed with the power to cross the boundaries between the planes of existence. It is called The Book of the Raven. Perhaps you would be interested in reading it?" He asks the half-elven bard. You all have noticed that he has improved his attitude and social skills somewhat since you all first met. "I also studied Mordenkainens tome and learned some basic pocket plane magic if you would be interested in reading that."He tells her.
Daventry has made good use of her windfall, and quickly has replaced her tattered and sun-baked clothing with something, as she calls it, "More befittin' a planeswalkin' Seeker o' mysteries." She's had her armor repaired and reoiled, the leather now a shiny dark brown, and has outfitted herself with a fine blue shirt and black slacks, with new long boots that match her armor's hue. The only clothing that she kept was the fog gray hooded cape, which was new-ish enough.
Today, she sits next to Pardot. "So, Pardot... I know you're always lookin' to the stars for meaning. What can ya tell me about the Warrior Women constellation? It's one of the ones in the Planetarium... I was curious what sort of divine portents you might know about it and things that, well, look like it."
Having finished her light lunch, Triäsa is leaning back, just listening to the others. She turns to Ludolf as he speaks. "The Vistani? I would like to read that book. I think I... have not heard of them." She seems to have been going to say something else there.
"Mordenkainen's tome I would like to get a chance to go through as well. I would love to learn more about pocket planes! Did you say you learned some pocket plane magic? Like how to actually create one?" She seems very excited at the prospect and a smile comes to her face.
"Umm, I came across a few references to the 'Far Planes' in my research. I know you have talked about that before. I took some notes of the books and page numbers. If you wanted to look. They did not seem very helpful to me, so they are likely nothing. But you can check if you like."
She sips a bit at her water, looking around at the others sitting at the table. "I have certainly learned a lot this last week. But I have to think if Mastreous had been helping it would have been a bit more on target. I keep wondering if that attack on him is somehow related to those other murders."
Spying the monk being quiet again, as Pardot contemplates her question, Daventry presses him. "Klin! You've made some progress on your book, yeah? Tell us about it!"She takes a drink from her ale and waits expectedly.
Tonight, she sits next to Pardot. "So, Pardot... I know you're always lookin' to the stars for meaning. What can ya tell me about the Warrior Women constellation? It's one of the ones in the Planetarium... I was curious what sort of divine portents you might know about it and things that, well, look like it."
Pardot looks up, surprised to be asked a question, and swallows his food thinking of how to discuss the stars. He then quietly says, almost the point where you need to lean in to hear him, "I've usually heard of them called The Three Sisters, but yes, Warrior Women is as good a name as any. To understand the meaning you must look at the entire picture. The Sisters alone tell us little. But when they approach the Great Tree, for example, it generally portents a strong harvest, as the Sisters bring their strength to the growth of the plants."Then, having answered the question, goes back to his food, handing pieces of it to Pocket, who is always at his side, as they share a glance which almost indicates that he and his furry companion have just shared a joke.

Tell us about it!" She takes a drink from her ale and waits expectedly.

But when they approach the Great Tree, for example, it generally portents a strong harvest, as the Sisters bring their strength to the growth of the plants." Then, having answered the question, goes back to his food, handing pieces of it to Pocket, who is always at his side, as they share a glance which almost indicates that he and his furry companion have just shared a joke.
