Daventry takes a long look at the tiefling. "Funny, that. On the wide waves, there'd often be a 'mate who'd try to get too familiar. Ended up much like those poor cabin boys, yet a hundred leagues away from the closest temple of Ilmater to ease his sorrows."
"I buy that you hunt bounties, you've the look of it. Means you've a keen eye for detail, otherwise you'd never catch the right quarry. Also means you've got an eye for coin, and I'll bet against a Waukeener's odds that you damn well remember every detail of each encounter when you're spending a sum of your own."
Daventry stacks fifteen gold on the table. "Memory jogged at all? I want names. Or shall I take my stack and part ways with the scantest of details? I'm also guessing you opened up said book at least once, to make sure that ***** didn't sell you a blank."
Klin looks confused. "Book shop? What is that? Some sort of store where they sell books? Isn't knowledge supposed to be free?"
Triäsa glances at Klin with a grin, "Yes Klin, a book shop sells books. Though usually such places sell... well, books closer to the one that drunk dwarf had brought." She then shakes her head a bit. "Whatever made you think knowledge is free though? A great deal is made widely available in various places like Candlekeep here. But was it free to get in? Do you not think people that discover this knowledge deserve compensation?"

Klin responds: "Should not the discovery of knowledge be enough?'
Triäsa laughs. "Well, maybe it is enough for you. Most of us like to have dinner as well."
Ludolf frowns at the annoying naivety of the Klin, but doesn't say anything, his head hurting too much. Klin obviously had lot to learn about the real world, having been sheltered and nursed at that cloister.
"Yes, well I would have to thank this Yalerion in person at some point I guess." Ludolf says dryly to Triäsa as she is finished with Klin. "Prince charming over there is trying his luck on Daventry, but he is also the person responsible for bringing The Hunger to Candle Keep. He mentioned he got it from some place in the wide, Upper City of Baldur's Gate, maybe even the same shop your new friend bought the book that nearly became the end of me. We should try to find out if that is the case, that shop is our best lead to solving this mystery. I suppose you wouldn't mind having another talk with my would be killer do you?" He says with a wry smile, looking Triäsa in the eyes with his grey piercing ones.
His eyes light up at the promise of gold. "Ah, yes... now I remember... the place was called.... Bahaal's Books.... yea that's right. Ask for uh.... Karen.... she's the manager.... yea... human lady, blonde hair and glasses overweight. Now pay up then get drunk or get lost."
Based on prior rolls (and common sense) you are pretty sure he is lying to get your gold.

"So he didn't give you the name of the shop then, I'd thought he'd do anything to keep you around Daventry." Ludolf says with a wry smile. "What about you Triäsa, did you get the name of the shop?"
"He did not remember the full name of the shop. It had 'Dune' in the name though. He said it was in the Wide as well." Triäsa says.
She holds Ludolf's gaze, her dark brown eyes looking back into good. "I certainly do not mind speaking with Yalerion again. I fully intend to before he must depart in a week or so. I am not sure he knows much more though. I think we could find the place though with what we know."
For a moment she pauses. "This still seems odd. If these two... well three books did come from Baldur's Gate, why were scholars attacked here? Why not the purchasers? Or the Avowed who inspected them?"
"Yes I agree Triäsa, it is odd, perhaps we will find some answers in that shop. It has to be the same shop, and Dune something is likely enough for us to find it. Excellent work Triäsa, although I never doubted you could get this Yalerion to open up to you." He says smirking. "So it seems this investigation will take us beyond these walls. It will certainly be an interesting excursion into low society." He adds matter-of-factly. "Shall we leave in the morning?"
"I think we can't be sure if the violence was about the books, just that the books were violent Klin, but we will find out, of that you can be sure." Ludolf says to the monk, breaking eye contact with Triäsa. "And you will of course return here to the books once we're done with the investigation...that is unless something really tragic happens in the back alleys of Baldurs gate. I hear the city reeks of corruption and death."
Daventry fingers the small silver brooch, which she's tied onto a plain metal necklace that also has a small iron key hung from it. "Besides, with these, we can come and go as we please, as long as we've the First Reader's favor." She says to Klin.
Pondering a moment, Daventry speaks again. "Didn't seem like Horns-for-Brains over there did much reading of the book he bought, though the stories between him and your paramour (she flashes the bard a quick grin) seem to line up on how they both acquired their entrance books. Even then, if Yalerion was able to read his book ahead of time... then whatever changed the book into that creature must have not triggered until it got here. But, what's the purpose? Attempting to assassinate random Seekers? Attempting to assassinate someone specific in the Avowed? Some sort of ghostly infiltration?"
She pauses. "Unless you all have any other ideas on leads or stones left to uncover... Baldur's Gate might be our best bet. Should probably see about throwin' some coin together for a mule and a cart, perhaps, unless you'd all like to trudge on foot." She sighs. "Let's not go to the Elfsong if we can avoid it, though. After my last visit, I'm not sure if the bouncer there wants to murder me or marry me, or both in that order."
"Yes, a mule and a cart, excellent idea. I suppose you could be our guide to that wretched excuse for a city." Ludolf says to Daventry. "Perhaps we could acquire a mule and a cart at the stables. I could go over there and ask, but someone more familiar with animals should perhaps come along for an interview." He says looking at Pardot.
Hearing your scheming and planning Fembris pipes up, "Ah sorry to interrupt.... but... well... we don't really have mules or carts here it's not like we actually have a need for that kind of thing, most of our deliveries and things come by the sea and no one really goes anywhere... though I suppose if you brought your own they would still be there at the stable... Thankfully, Baulder's Gate isn't too far, you should be able to get there in say.... 5 days?" Fembris looks to you all hoping there is not too much disappointment. "While you are gone I'll do some more poking around on the victims see if we can learn anything else... "

"Only 5 days, yes that is reassuring Fembris, thank you for that remark." Ludolf says dryly. "I don't know about you but I have some preparations to do if we are to leave for Baldurs gate in the morning. Anything else we need to discuss?"
"A cart might be nice." Triäsa agrees. "Should be less than a week to travel if I recall. I passed by there on the way here."
She looks around the table away the group. "I suppose we all should go? I still wonder if the creatures that killed the others might still be about. Or more hidden ones."

"Hah, please." Daventry scoffs, taking on a false air of offense. "Next time try better, if you're going to lie to a lady."
She gets up, palming all but one of her coins, and returns to the group. She relays what the man said to the group.
