Daventry checks under the chair before helping Fembris poke around the table, opening drawers and carefully feeling for any hidden latches, false bottoms, etc.
Perhaps Ludolf and Daventry are a little skittish from all the recent attacks from furniture or maybe Fembris is right and it is just too early. Either way neither of you notice anything unusual. There are no signs of a struggle perhaps the room was cleaned after the incident but everything seems in order... No books with letters on the spine (wait wrong chapter)...
Apparently Klin is a morning person as he thoroughly explores every crack and crevice of this nearly empty room and he learns one thing... The room is empty.
Fembris seems to be waking up a little bit, "This is FUN!! We are like detectives, hot on the case of some devious plan to destroy the world!" She jumps up on the table and lands with her knees bent with her arms extended. Her eyes wide darting side to side.

After accompanying the others into the Pillars, Triäsa says, "I guess I can look for magic." She pulls her lute from her back and begins playing and singing softly:
'Life is but a weaving Between the real and mystic. It's colors remain hidden Beyond all sight of man.
Music's notes encompass Mystic threads as they do twist. Revealing their many colors To musician's eyes demand.'
"Yes, brilliant, now we know for fact that this was pointless. Shall we wake up whoever is sleeping at the other murder site so we can be off to Baldur's gate before dusk perhaps." Ludolf says dryly, ready to move on. But when Triäsa starts singing he just sits down on the chair, entranced it seems, fully content with sitting there until the performance is over.
Triäsa you feel there is a tremendous amount of magic in the walls of this room. Nothing like what you felt prior to entering Fistandia's Mansion but clearly the room is enchanted. You did get this feeling in the other study room but it was much more faint and washed out by the magic of the portal.
If you relay this information to Klin (or Fembris) they would know this is the silence enchantment that the walls of every study room in Pillars is shrouded in. This prevents noise from disturbing the studies of other rooms.
"Bah, well, at least half of me can rest easy knowing we've at least tried." Daventry sighs. "So that'll be a round on me at the Arms. Fembris, I'll buy you one when we get back. Now, hopefully we can see that other room before we hit the road, only a bit delayed."
"Is there a way to send a message? Perhaps they'd get back here with a response, given that I expect it'll be at least a tenday before we can return here." Daventry asks. (She also explains that she means a round at one of the waystations on the road to Baldur's Gate - she's not planning on a breakfast ale before hitting the road)
Prodding a bit further, "Were there any events that your order was preparing for? With the season, maybe they were focused on the crops in the heat?"
Fembris nods, pull her paper out and heads back out the door, across the courtyard. She is walking quickly and with a purpose back into the House of Rest and up to the third floor and quickly finds the door she is looking for. She pulls herself up to a full height, clears her throat and loudly bangs on the door with her fist and shouts, "CANDLEKEEP INVESTIGATION AGENCY OPEN THE DOOR!!!"
You hear a crash from the other side of the room like something falling and then sounds of scrambling and a rush to the door. The door is quickly flung open by a male hafling who has grabbed a modest rag which is all that is covering him, "I am sorry I thought the mints were free I didn't mean to steal... please don't throw me out, I just got here.. I can pay for them... please, please, please." The hafling blurts out as he tries to maintain his modesty and innocence at the same time.
The room beyond is a complete disaster. Books, scrolls, quills, food, drink, cards and clothing litter every inch of this space. It's almost as if every Bag of Holding in the multiverse empties directly into this one room.

Triäsa does explain her findings, nodding at the explanation of the silence enchantment. She will try to maintain the spell as they move on. (Duration 10 minutes - so maybe.) Assuming the spell is still active she will give the room a quick look.
She laughs quietly at Fembris' announcement of their presence and then the halfling's response. "I think you have scared the poor fellow!"
She then says to the halfling, "We are just interested in the room. Nobody is accusing you of anything."
"Yes, good luck with investigating that room." Ludolf mutters. "I'm sure you will find a lot of evidence in there, not likely pertinent to our investigation though."
Daventry has a hard time stifling a laugh at the entire situation. She isn't very successful.
"Alright, perhaps we can disregard the blatant theft of the free mints, but we do have questions. First, though, you can find whatever articles of clothing you'd prefer to speak to our mighty Avowed companion here."
Given the halfling's state of undress, Daventry gives a cursory glance around for signs of "company" he might have been entertaining.
Perception: 6
"We actually don't need to know about your business, but instead what might have been there before. Did you find any notes, possessions, or things that looked a bit out of place when you arrived here?"
Fembris caught up in the moment does not seem to notice the hafling's predicament or Triäsa calm words. She continues on, "Yea Dav's right the CIA doesn't care about your petty theft! We have bigger fish to fry. We are here about a murder! Now step aside." At the word murder the mostly naked hafling goes pale, drops his rag and passes out on the floor very exposed. Fembris seems to have a moment of clarity as she turns to all of you, "I think I got a little too excited.... It happens sometimes...."
Daventry -- You don't see anyone else in the room though the naked hafling seems to have most of your attention.

As the hafling drops Ludolf wills a nearby blanket over his exposed parts before entering the room for a brief search to make sure nothing relevant to the investigation is missed. Investigation: 20"Good job Fembris." He says dryly while rummaging around in the disaster area.
Daventry gasps at Klin. "Again? Your ways are most deadly, my scholarly friend. Woe be enemies of Klin the Quiet!"her grin is ear to ear as she turns to Fembris.
"Hah, Fembris. He's not used to a strong lady tearing into his room like a whirlwind of authoritative energy, I'll bet."
Daventry bends down to the halfling and gives him some light slaps to the cheek to try and wake him back up.
Buried among the piles and stacks of garbage Ludolf find more piles and stacks of garbage. If there was ever a clue or a hint to the crime it has long since been lost and buried. Nothing of interest really stands out though this is far from a well maintained crime scene.
Triäsa you are able to maintain your concentration across the Court of Air and to the room at the House of Rest. The constant pings as you walk are maddening. When you arrive at the room you are not drawn to anything and you do not sense any magic from any of the halflings possessions or items in the room.
Daventry you check on the halfling and it appears he will live. The color is already returning to his face and he is start moan incoherently. You feel confident that given a bit longer he will return to the world no worse than he was when his day began.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Walking into the mess of a room, Pardot glances around to see what type of person this halfling is, if he can learn anything about him based generally on the types of objects that he has scattered everywhere ((perception 9)). As Ludolf begins his more exhaustive search though, Pardot reaches up a hand to touch his campion's side, offering guidance ((I'll just roll it to save time: 4)) in his investigation.
I'll buy the leather scraps and build my own armor. Feels more in character :)
"Well. This was fun." Daventry sighs, unhappy her hunch led nowhere.
"Fembris, thanks for the tour... though next time you want to kick in a door and scare a halfling half to death..."She pauses. "Quarter-death?"Shaking her head, she continues, "You'll know where to find me."
Looking at the others, she nods. "Let's hit the road. Meet you at the gate in twenty."
With that, she heads to pick up her package of goods from the supply store and then heads to the gate, a new bow and quiver slung across her shoulder and a few more goods in her pack.
Daventry checks under the chair before helping Fembris poke around the table, opening drawers and carefully feeling for any hidden latches, false bottoms, etc.
