Legerdemain: A Little Hocus Pocus

Val and Keth standing on the foredeck at the wheel you can see the light is directly in front of the boat, Keth you recognize the source. It's a lighthouse. The boat is sinking, it will sink within the next hour if you do not move quickly you will go down with it. There is still time to investigate the deck. You did not when you came up only to find the wheel.

(OOC: Can Valwarin use the wind to push the boat near the lighthouse and buy them time? )

“We’re sinking fast and we need to get to that light. Aerlin look up here for whatever it is we’re suppose to find. I can’t control the ship. I’ll go down and see if I can stop the leaking. Val keep the boat going. Maybe a little extra wind will help us get there faster.” 

Keth says knowing we don’t have a lot of time. 

"I will, I can also cast the same spell as Vale, I don't know if it'll be too much for the sails though.." Aerlian starts to head down the deck looking for anything out of the ordinary.

Perception 10

"Keep your eyes open down there Keth, we never checked the hold, whatever it is could be there too!" 

"I don't know how much I will be able to keep it. Wait until I lost it!" says Valwarin to Aerlian

(OOC: Duration is 1 minute, I used two rounds in combat, that lets us 8 rounds more or less to push the boat forward...)

OOC: I'm afraid gust isn't going to be enough to fill the tattered sails. Abandoning ship seems the only way forward.

Aerlian looking around on deck you notice there are lifeboats on deck as well as the rigging still there to lower them into the water.

"If Keth can't stop us going down there are life boats here, we can abandon ship if we need to" Aerlian shouts at Val "We may not have long, and I don't think we can move fast enough in this crate before it sinks, better to be ready to go."

With that he starts to check how to lower the boats

Trying to fill the sails but seeing that it's not enough Valwarin lowers his arms and let the wind go. He then goes to help Aerlian in preparing the lifeboat. He yells over the sound of the storm

"Do you think we will make it in this one?!"

"There's only three of us - unless Keth comes back with something massive I think we'll be fine! Let's work out how to do this." he says gesturing at the rigging.

Investigation 16

OOC: I'm assuming a lifeboat on a ship would accommodate at least three people, 

Not knowing whats happening above deck Keth is going down as far as he can below deck looking for the source of the incoming water.

Perception: 6

It accommodates twelve. You do know how to lower the boat into the water with your party members on board. First however you've got to get aboard and swing the boat over the side. It will take two people STR check DC 12.

The boat is tossing in the waves on rough seas, once in the water I'll need a survival check with advantage from Keth to make it ashore.

"We need to get Keth back here!" Aerlian shouts to Val "I'll be back in a minute" He moves to the hatch and goes looking for Keth, shouting his name and that they need to leave very soon. 

Keth you do find the source of incoming water, a large break in the haul as if the ship had run aground then was broken free by the storm. There is NO way to repair it. You shipmates however are calling you back up on deck.

Val tries to do as told and prepares the boat waiting for aerlian to come back with keth to lower it. He checks that the lifeboat is not broken (I guess that he cannot lower it alone but for when it’s needed: STR check: 6 )

Keth comes running back up almost running into his human companion. "Nevermind; the hole is way too big to fix. We need to find a way to get off now." As he says that he see's Val getting inside a lifeboat and says "Yeah just like that. Quickly get in everyone."

Once the three of us are in Keth will help lower the lifeboat and use his boating experience to keep the lifeboat from capsizing in the stormy waters.

As Aerlian sees his companions struggling he tries to man the rigging to lower the boat down to the water. 

Strength 18

"What kind of test of magic is this?" 

“Do you think this is part of the test?” Replies Valwarin lowering the lifeboat

(Look at the bright side.. we are already wet due to the storm and the waves XD On second thought perhaps the harpies were trying to rescue us from the sinking boat... XD )

"Honestly, I think the entire thing is part of the test, where the hell are the rest of the candidates and the crew? No, this is all the test, but we need to show them our skills, I don't think there is any point in refusing to play, we'd fail, or die, neither sounds good to me".  He says the last with a smile to try to ease the tension a bit. 

The party gets into the boat and lowers it overboard into the lashing waves.
