Under the sounds of the storm Velan couldn’t hear a thing beyond the shouts of his new companions, but he knew histories. A voice in the wind around a group of lost souls, that seemed terribly with the sort of thing that a fey would do. That or elementals. Either way Magwynn would be right - it wouldn’t be something friendly.
Then the human-looking man spoke, mentioning Neverwinter. Why, in that moment, the hexblood couldn’t fathom. What he did know was that the best option would be to prepare for battle and so he reached for his arcane focus, a blue shard of crystal tied to a dark brown leather string. With it in his right palm, the wizard arched his arms and pressed his hands, one upon the other, over his chest, whispering the arcane words of the Mage Armor spell.
“We should reduce the distance, try to attack first.”He shouted trying his best to see something - a ultimately fruitless effort. I just hope this strange figure can’t strike from beyond our reach. “I can return fire if they are a hundred twenty feet away or closer. If they are sixty feet or closer, I can make it harder for them to concentrate and escape a grapple, for example.”
You hear snarls then growls as you see these beasts running hard in the snow. They start to close the gap coming towards the party. One is on the far right side and the other is on the far left side. There both now at 100 ft away from the party. The one at distance doesn't seem to move.
"May your arrow fly true, my big bonny lass, with any luck, you will hit it in the ass*(*&^" The last of the words of Zin's tune fade out in the snow and wind. But he sings and plays his flute that he had on the inside pocket of his cape, then readies his rapier in his right hand. The magic and sound of the words and tune reach Magwynn's ears and help her.
Bardic inspiration to Magwynn, for the next 10 minutes can add a bardic inspiration 1D6 roll to an attack roll, ability check, or saving throw.

Magwynn will turn to be back to back with Spix and pulls out her longbow. "Don't let them get you between the two of them," she warns, and shoots the one on the right.

He barely finished speaking when the beasts appear before his eyes. Hyena like creatures with white fur and aberrant mouths - their lower jaws looked parted on two, but each part seemed to have a mandibulae, filled with teeth as sharp as knifes. Bloody hells, Velan thought to himself as they started to get closer. That’s where the giggling came from. Not exactly a discovery that he was happy to make, but a good one all the same. Had the keener eyes of the party failed in notice the approach of the scavengers they would have been ambushed and surrounded. Dead in all but name.
As the elf gave words of incentive to the firbolg, the hexblood started to count the distance between and the enemies to come. Two hundred, hundred thirty, hundred twenty. Now! He thought rising the right arm, arcane focus in hand. With his mind centered, the wizard called upon the arcane energy of the Wave, concentrates and transform it, binding reality itself albeit in a small area and through a small spell, generating a mote of fire in his palm.
“Ignis!” Velan shouted as the creatures entered the hundred feet range and he hurled his flame on the same animal Magwynn managed to hit. The game begins.
On his turn, when the beasts reach a distance of 60 feet, Zin will target the beast to the right, or if it is down the beast approaching on the left. He says “Go away you scraggly beast, we will not be your next big feast, go away you big ole mutt, or we are going to kick your butt!” He speaks in a crescendo and somehow magic mixes with the words as they come out.
Vicious mockery for 4 damage if it fails a DC 14 wisdom save, it’s next attack is at disadvantage.
"Stay behind me if you can." Davis reminds the others as he narrows his eyes at the approaching beasts. He grips his glaive with one hand, while using his other to tug a throwing axe from its sheath on his chest. Holding the weapon ready, he prepares to toss it at the first beast to get within range.

As the beast charges forward the mote of fire strikes the target on the upper face and back. The flame temporarily engulfs the target then dissipates into smoke as the beast takes 9 fire damage.

Zin messes with the beasts head with his words and deals 4 physic damage
still smoking slightly the beast DASHES forward into the range of Davis. Davis unleashes his hand axe and lets it fly. It hits pay dirt in other shoulder opposite the arrow as the beast takes 4 slashing damage.
Sohk starts to dance in place trying to be as dodgey as he can
while dashing the right side beast bites then rips the arrow out then knocks the axe down onto the ground with his nose as he finally makes it to the front line party.
The untouched beast on the left hand side also DASHES forward staying 10 ft. out of range with his nose aiming for the back lines.
The bipedal one at distance unleashes his notched arrow at Velan
the above prob says tampered with but I was trying to adjust the commentary as I didn't know the results. So I'll adjust with another post for future posts in combat.
Magwynn eyes widen as the beast gets up close and personal as she quickly swaps weapons. Determined to end it's linage she swipes down hard on it's side dealing great damage to it causing it to Bleed where it stands. 11 slashing damage to right beast.
Following the lead of Magwynn, Spix steps forward trying to cut off the left beast from moving any further. Angles her weapon as lightning sizzles upon the weapon and strikes towards the top of the right shoulder and manages to slash a wound into it's flesh dealing 6 slashing damage.

Voracious, the blaze of his rudimentary spell spread through the face of the hideous beast and the smell of burnt fur took over the air, albeit briefly, following the smoke of smoldered flesh. It was a good hit, but the hyena stood, still ferocious. Should I try Mind Sliver? Velan doubted the chances of such bestial creature resisting a psychic attack, but Fire Bolt was more potent and had more range. There was also the possibility of discharging Magic Missile.
Before he could come to a decision, he noticed an arrow moving in his direction. The wizard was ready to use Shield when the wind diverted the blow. A bit of luck the beasts seem to lack for every attack his companions made seemed to hit the mark. A direct fight it is, the hexblood sayid to himself while deciding to repeat his previous offensive.
Raising his right hand again, Velan brought forth another flame, his eyes fixated on the creature at the right. As it reaches melee with the warrior, the firbolg and the elvish woman, he utters the enchantment, Ignis, his echoing with the arcane energy of the Weave as he hurls the flare mote. Let’s just see how much more damage you can take. Hopefully, not that much.

Swirling the glaive up into a ready position once the handaxe has left his hand, Davis is ready for the beast as it closes in. He will attack which ever beast is closest to him.

Velan casts Mage Armor on himself.
Sohk holds the crate tight, trying to pull his large coat over it a bit as he peers around at everyone trying to stay alert.
