Sheridan knows that inscriptions such as this and the layout of the runes mean that the wall prevents ethereal and incorporeal entities from passing through it, making an effective blockade to spirits
Gents, from these runes it looks like behind this wall may be either where they're carrying out their experiments or possibly some sort of spirit prison where they're keeping whatever they're experimenting on captive when they're not being worked on.
Master, I think there is a strong chance that the soul we are seeking is behind this wall. However, there is also a chance that breaking the seal might release something foul and malevolent.
Can you sense the nature of what is beyond the seal? Use me as your conduit. Use my life force as your catalyst.
Hmmmmmmmm the runic cage is well done, if I were to unmake it using your life force I would be minus a disciple…. However if you find the alchemist who wrought its construction, and dispatch them, the matrices within would crumble and any bound spirits would be released. I can sense at least one spirit on the other side….. familiar to us… yes important that you find this spirit and release them. Knowledge they will have that will be useful to you. Your associate has already found the means of your ascension to the next level, when you are ready you should proceed and take whatever steps you deem necessary to release them
Oriki takes the key, slips it gently into the lock and turns it as slowly as he can before easing the door open slightly and peeking through the gap to see what's there...
The stairwell continues to anti clockwise up to the next and final floor. Here is where you would expect to find a solarium or observatory in a traditional maison but as you look into the the top floor you discover that the roof is closed off to the outside world with thick layers of lead. There are bookshelves floor to ceiling along one side, with four chairs situated around the fireplace and reading stations dotted about the place. A well appointed and stocked cellarette stands nearby with bottles of what appear to be red wine within. There are four recesses that appear to be sleeping quarters for the houses masters
Sheridan looks at the reading stations to see what is being researched and if the tomes would provide any clues. He then joins Draskan in looking through the sleeping recesses.
There are a number of esoteric tomes scattered about the reading stations, many are treatises on the substance of sprits and the many properties of its unusual construction, others are theorems on containment and whether it is possible to inflict pain to the already dead outside of the realms of the gods.
Poking your head into one of the recessed rooms you see all the appointments of a bedroom, albeit with one major difference. Instead of a bed you see a coffin…

Sheridan closes his eyes and speaks inwardly.

Sheridan shares this with the company
Oriki listens carefully and then nods with a smile.
Great. Let's find this alchemist and introduce them to the spirit world?
Oriki moves up to the door at the stairwell and inspects it closely, hoping to open it quietly and without setting off any traps or alarms.
The locking mechanism is highly ornate and you think jt matches the key you found. You do not think it is trapped
Oriki takes the key, slips it gently into the lock and turns it as slowly as he can before easing the door open slightly and peeking through the gap to see what's there...
The stairwell ends with a smooth wall to your left, You see the dumbwaiter to your right and two doors are in front of you
Draskan pauses as he reaches the top of the stairs, something about the left hand wall isn’t right…
Oriki looks over to Draskan, pausing at the top of the stairs, his eyebrow raised questioningly
Draskan turns to the wall, placing his hand tentatively upon it,
At the slightest pressure the wall recesses and rotates revealing a secret stairwell heading further up
Oriki nods in approval and starts to make his way slowly up the stairs

Sheridan casts Mage Hand and pushes the coffin open from 30ft away.
