Princes of the Apocalypse, Game Thread

Ankita does substantial damage to the downed Duergar; it is heavily wounded.

Shrek's slash opens up the dwarfy thing in front of him and it falls down again, this time for good.

Formerly side-by-side with Ankita on one end of the battle, he now finds himself with her at the other side, by the door and now-shattered table.  Randall does his best to finish the prone dwarf/giant off.  Attack: 16 Damage: 7

Then he raises his shield, dedicating his reaction to trying to protect Ankita from the first incoming attack.

Melchor sends forth his ghostly hand again, at the same one he targetted before:

 Attack: 26 Damage: 6

 Hitting it, but having minimal effect on the creature, that suddenly enlarges like it's companion did previously.

The prone Duergar scrambles to his feet and swings at Randall with his war pick. 

Attack: 5 Damage: 5

DM check: 19

 There is a loud thump and a crack as you can see what looks like another Duergar too big to fit through the door charge the frame and lower it's shoulders, clearly trying to bust through. 2

Olaerys hears the bumping, the enlarged frame trying to come through the door, he continues to swing at the large Duergar in front of him. 

Battle axe :  Attack: 23 Damage: 10 

Shrek crowds around the doorway with the others, and with the long reach of his halberd, takes a swipe at the large beast attempting to squeeze through the doorway towards them-

Pokey pokey halberd Attack: 14 Damage: 14

As the downed dwarf gets up, Ankita tries to knock him back down, swinging her club expertly.

Attack: 19 Damage: 10

Randall is starting to feel the effects of these repeated blows.  He takes a moment to catch his breath (Bonus Action: Second Wind for 13HP) and then he stabs at the brute in front of him again.  Attack: 7 Damage: 4

The previously prone Duergar falls dead, and the one hit by Olaerys is hanging on by a thread.

Shrek's halberd poke misses, glancing off the large dwarf's belly

After missing multiple times, Shrek's rage becomes even more...ragey.  You notice that he starts to foam at the mouth, and sweat profusely from his armpits and hairy back.  It's not a lovely sight, but likely intimidating to the one's he's attacking.

Olaerys keeps swinging with his battle axe on his turn, focusing on the wounded Dueregar and attempting to bring him down.

Battle axe :  Attack: 7 Damage: 6

Melchor casts Chill Touch on the Duergar in the hallway:

Attack: 12 Damage: 7

 The ghostly hand appears at the things neck and whatever it does is clearly too much for the creature from the underdark

You hear a loud grunt and an enlarged Duergar smashes through the door, and swings his War Pick at Shrek:

Attack: 24 Damage: 19

Olaerys lands a vicious blow on the thing as it appears in the hallway from the now ruined door.

Randall's strike misses, but he manages to position himself perfectly to help defend his allies

"HEY!" Shrek yells, "Pick on someone your own size!"

Shrek lunges toward the big-boy beast who he keeps missing, this time hoping that his strike rings true-

Halberd Lunge Attack: 15 Damage: 6

Ankita turns around and joins Shrek in his attack, using her club, making sure not to get hit by Shrek as well!

Attack: 7 Damage: 5

Leaning heavily on his stick, Melchor reaches out again toward the Duergar, making a grasping motion and spitting out hard, sharp words of power as a familiar spectral hand grasps at the unfortunate dwarf…

(Melchor casts Chill Touch again… Attack: 13 Damage: 2 necrotic damage)

The giant, angry dwarf thing sheds off the barrage of attacks with ease. Enraged, and oblivious to Randall's posture, it attacks Ankita:

Attack: 8 Damage: 12

Noticing the beast reaching past Randall and himself to take a swipe at Ankita, Shrek uses this as an opportunity to try to lop off the beast's extended arm:

Halberd Swipe Attack: 18 Damage: 10
