Aranea grimaces as the bodies rise to their feet and prepare to attack. More necromancy at work here. They should have expected this. At least the last worm is gravely wounded. She can probably finish it off with her hand crossbow.
Hand Crossbow - Attack 14 / Damage 8
After shooting the worm, she moves to intercept the Baroness and lashes out with a kick.

As Aranea moves to attack the baroness, she falls back down to the floor, dead again. Well, that's convenient. Somehow these worms have the ability to raise the dead. That's something she's never heard of before.
Aranea moves toward the pile of bodies. "We need to check if any of them is Baroness Elenore." She kneels down and begins to search the corpses for any identifying signs.
Qinro shivers after the combat ends. He feels disgusted by what he has seen the worms do. “Ummm, hullo.” He says sheepishly. “Did… all of you read a book called Masque of the Worms?”

A wizard is never late, nor is he early, he arrives precisely when he means to.
Jerick is gasping for breath and drops to one knee. "Yes, horse-friend. It appears you and we have made the same mistake. I've gotten in trouble for reading books before, but this is ridiculous. Anyway, we appreciate your help and heroism. It appears the three of you have saved my life."
Then, to Aranea. "Assuming the madman is correct and that is the Baroness, shall we take the corpse back to the Baron? Perhaps... after a rest?"
Qinro takes a half bow with one hoof extended, a gentle gesture in an odd time. He looks at Jerick and says "You are mightily injured little one. Here, partake of these, they may help your injuries." He moves his hands, says a few words and casts goodberry, producing 10 berries. "Please, take what you need, heal yourself, I will keep the rest in my pouch. Maybe we can rest for a bit if you need to. Where are these vile worms coming from? Should we travel further down the worm hole after we have rested?"
"I was in a strange library and my friends and I found this book, and by some strange majick we were teleported to this place. Unfortunately my friends were eaten by the worms, consumed. I was all alone in this cellar until you came along. I found a great hiding place behind those large casks. Hard to hide one such as me. I used to be in the military, in the marines actually. I was a little panicked until you came along. It is good to have friends to fight alongside once again." He pauses for a minute, scanning each of your faces. "My name is Qinro. I would be honored to fight beside you, and perhaps we can help each other to get out of of this crazy place, back to the world where things make sense once more." His club shrinks back to its usual size and he puts it away hitched to his gear at his side.

Jerick says, "Thank you. I'm Jerick. I'll consume as many berries as you'll allow--I'm quite hurt. Perhaps a rest will do us good as well. If you've been hiding here, and now the worms are dead, this seems as good a place as any."
Jerick takes 7 of the goodberries. He investigates the area, hoping to find helpful supplies or potions.
Investigation 22
He then sits against one of the casks, hoping to rest.
Aranea checks the now still body of the woman and finds a hole in her back. There is nothing else that could be used to identify her.
Jerick searches around the cellars but only finds casks of bottles of wine. Everything else is destroyed.
"That is the late Baroness Elenore Rennet,"the man says standing up. "And I am Lebrim. For the moment it seems I am lucid.
I regret to say that this but yes I did kill my father, I think it's an effect of this house, driving me to madness. It was not something I would have otherwise done.
If any of you have heard that pulsing noise, then I am afraid to inform you that the echo fever has taken hold of you too."

When Jerick drops down into the hole he finds himself in the cellars beneath the mansion. He sees casks and bottles of wine stacked lining the walls of this damp and dirty cellar. Several of the casks have been broken into pouring their contents all over the ground. The pungent wine forms pools of red around the room.
However, Jerick is not alone down here two large monstrous creatures lurk down in the darkness. They are long and cylindrical in shape. One end end finishes into a pointed tail, whilst the other has a large circular mouth filled with rows of sharp teeth. The creatures feast on a pile of mangled bodies. There seems to be a total of twelve different bodies all dressed in fine clothing and wearing masks. These must be what remains of guests of the masquerade guests.
Behind the worms is a blood-stained tunnel in the wall the leads up into the manor. Providing another way in and out of the cellars. However, there is another tunnel which leads down underground.
After Jerick gets his bearings, he is joined by Glugrug.

After investigating the body of the Baroness, Aranea stands and nods once at the centaur. "My name is Aranea," she introduces herself curtly. "Mind that hole. There are probably even more of those nasty creatures down there."
After speaking with the centaur, she turns to the man who has revealed himself to be Count Lebrim. "I believe you have some explaining to do, Count," she says. "What is this 'echo fever' you speak of? Where did these monsters come from?"
Jerick looks down into the hole in the ground and sees that it reaches down for about ten feet before it collapses. It would take days to excavate the tunnel.
"The worms cam up through that hole there," Lebrim explains. "Somewhere deep down under the ground is where I believe these worms live. They seem to be drawn towards madness, but I don't know where they came from before that.
As for the fever, it seems to be something to do with this manor. It plays with your mind. Makes you hear things that are not there. Eventually, it can have an ever lasting effecting on your mind."
Jerick continues to rest, sitting on the floor with his back against a relatively intact cask, but he speaks up.
"If that tunnel is collapsed, perhaps we are currently safe from more worms for the moment. Shall we rest here, or shall we take the corpse of the once-Baroness back to her widower?"
Lebrim nods his head, "Yes, you should be safer here a short while. However, I don't recommend staying here for too long. I can already feel the echo fever taking hold of my mind once more."

"Well that's not good. Let's return the Baroness to the Baron. I can rest on the way."
Jerick, probably with the help of the others, pushes casks under the hole and climbs up. He also helps lift the Baroness's body up and out of the basement.
Panting and tired, Jerick says, "Ok, let's go."
